How to Make an Envelope Throw Pillow

  • This is by far the easiest way to make a throw pillow cover. This pillow cover features an envelope closure opening on the backside to allow the pillow insert to be installed inside the pillow cover. This pillow cover is made from one complete plate instead of multiple plates making construction easy and fast. Because the envelope opening is rather deep it virtually eliminates the gap typically found on envelope throw pillows that do not use a button.

    Thank you for this amazing tutorial! I'm ashamed to say I have had pillow fillers for about 6 years, and I have been intending to sew covers for them. However, I was intimidated by zippers and piping, as simple as they seem. When I ran across this video, I decided to switch to an envelope style cover, and I'm so happy with the results, as well as the low time and cost commitment! Thank you!!

    Just made four very professional looking cushions. I don't have a hot knife so just used very good scissors, and folded the hems over twice. I stitched the seams twice for added strength, and blanket-stitched by hand to stop the edges fraying. You don't have to do this, but it doesn't take long (and I like hand sewing!). They look great. Thanks for the tutorial. What's great about your measurements is that there is a very big overlap and you can't see the pad at all from the outside.

    awesome video, made me think of when I worked in the TWA Fabric shop, the things we made were awesome, seat covers, inserts for the back of the seats and so many items.It was an awesome place to work, I miss working. I do upholstery work on the side and have a 211G156 singer Sewing machine with a walking foot, I am blessed. Husband died of Cancer and I fill my days with sewing projects and stumbled onto you site. Great tutorials, you have a soothing voice and great instructions. going to check out your site, I have some coke seats that need to be replace and need a Red and White checkered patter and outdoor fabric to do the job, think you have it? I will remove the COKE decal and resew it in the cushions 6 of them. Thanks for sharing, do any senior discounts for us retirees? LOL!

    I really like this method. I have a question. How would this work with fabric that let's say has a big rose on it that repeats. If you want one of the large roses in the "front center" how do you make this work using your method? I'm trying to figure out how much fabric I would need and how to do the markings etc.

  • @nestlevalley
    @nestlevalley Před 9 lety +1

    I'm using this ! I bought the faux leather material so I don't have to worry about fraying but I want round corners. I'm not a person who sews but I plan on sewing half-moons on the corners, then trimming the excess material off. What do you think?

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  Před 9 lety

      DesertRiver Last Yes, that should work great, just sew a nice curve at each corner and trim away the excess. Here is yet another video with Boxed Corners slightly different approach, but it too may be helpful: czcams.com/video/ZVaHuJQGAIY/video.html
