That one trucker at 6:40 had the right idea though. When those gates came down around him, his only option at that time was to smash the guard to get off the rails. I would much rather get cited and pay for the guard and a fine then lose the truck.
In the US and Canada anyway, the crossing gates are purposely made to break away. I don't know about other countries. But if faced with a choice of breaking a gate or dying, I think I'd chose breaking the gate.
I’ve seen a video from Virtual Railfan that included an SUV getting stuck in between the crossing gate. Everyone got out okay, but everyone in the comments was talking about how easy it would be for the driver just to just break the gate down and drive off. In their defense, they may not have known that the gates were ment to break like that. Thanks for helping spread this info about the gates.
@@chukowiley3823 When my kids were learning to drive, I took them to the most complicated RR Xing I could find and we ran simulations of being stuck on the tracks. I made damn sure they understood how to get out the situation, whether driving through gates, ramming the stopped car ahead of them or driving into the ditch to get off the tracks. They understand that Dad won't be mad if the car is totaled so long as they are alive.

Most trucks stall because they stuck at the high peak of the road which crosses the railway tracks. The track are higher than the road, so if the crossing is made with a high steep, the bottom of the truck stumble on it. These crossings are not built for trucks, only for passenger cars, and it's usually a big "NO TRUCKS" sign on these crossings. But, who reads stupit signs anyway?

In the US, there's a telephone number posted at every crossing along with a location ID. If your car stalls on the tracks for ANY reason, you need to immediately call that number so that the RR can stop any oncoming trains. YOU DO THIS BEFORE CALLING 911. The system is set up for this exact reason, and it will take 911 an eternity to identify the crossing, who owns the track, who dispatches that traffic, what phone number will actually get through to the right people, etc.
If you ever stuck on a track and see a train approaching always exit the vehicle with all lives in the vehicle, vehicles can always be replaced but a human life or animal can never be replaced, get out your vehicle soon as you see the train coming, trains are coming faster than they seem

It's like they can't imagine breaking the tiny wood barrier but the semi and train plus ties and track that all need repairs later are an acceptable loss somehow. And you see it again and again. Hell, they are made to break so just drive and it will be repaired at a couple hundred thousand dollars less than all the other damage.The one trucker at 6:58 realized it wasn't worth getting hit, drove through that barrier from a dead stop like it was nothing, just as it was meant to be done.

Why are all the videos always trains hitting trucks? Isn’t there a way to notify the train engineer that there’s a truck blocking the road with all the gadgets we have today? The train need a lot of distance to stop so there has to be like cameras at cross section so the engineer can make sure the intersection is clear. The engineer can get a sound alarm beforehand so he can stop or at least slow down. The train companies needs to make an app and put cameras at every intersection.
