KOF Player Tries Street Fighter for the First Time

- Usually you hear about people trying King of Fighters after playing Street Fighter for a long time. Or at least, finding out about SNK stuff from Capcom games like CVS2. But for me, it's the other way around. I've played KOF games for years, but never given Street Fighter a shot. Will it impact my playstyle or feelings toward the game? Check it!

I love both SNK & and Capcom, but I do prefer SNK Fighting Games mainly KOF. KOF always gave you more moves and mobility. But I'm really loving SF6 so far. I feel like they finally KOF'd Street Fighter by giving them more moves and is more Combo heavy. It's not going to past KOF XV for me but it's getting up there. I love this Game. Anyway, I'm subbing since you're an SNK Guy.

You said near the end that KOF has multiple jumps and such, and Street Fighter doesn't, and you said that could be seen as a reason why KOF is not as hard. I disagree with that. Imagine a video game with 18 different types of jumps/hops (instead of 4) that can be used in different situations to possibly produce a different outcome. Would 18 types of jumps/hops make it even easier? No. It would make it harder. So the jumping and hopping (not even getting into some more demanding super moves and such) make KOF more difficult to learn, not less so. One question (that is probably anathema to most KOF experts) is if a future installment will introduce a "Modern" control scheme like Capcom did with SF6 (to go along with but not replace the current controls). If well implemented, I'd use it, but I'm a pleb.
I see your arguement, but I wouldn't say KOF having more jumps makes it inherently harder to learn. It just gives you *more* to learn. Jumping in SF is a lot more punishing than KOF because everyone is accustomed that single jump and has immediate answers for it, whereas in KOF your ability to mix up which jumps you use makes it a lot easier to successfully jump in. So even though SF has less to learn, utilizing that one thing is harder than utilizing the several options KOF has.
At the end of the day though, I don't think KOF is much harder to learn than SF or vice versa. Maybe in some capacity, but not enough to create some huge divide in skill.
Kof is the more difficult and technical game . 🤔
Boggles my mind that a KOF player would have never touched Street Fighter until now.
I find Street Fighter harder tbh, the more restrictive and punishing air game destroys my ass, because I can't stop jumping to save my life.
