What a sweet ride! My daily driver is a blue 1957 Racer that I converted to a fixed gear after the coaster brake gave up. Everything is original except the wheels and chain. Shimano Dura-Ace tracks hubs front and rear laced to 26" polished Rhyno Lite rims. Currently running Schwalbe Marathon 1.75 and loving everything about this bike. I'm thinking about throwing a studded Marathon on the front for the impending Chicago winter!
warms the heart to see such love put upon a machine.
Thanks for sharing Bikeman, this one is extra special as I was "put in service" in July of 1964 as well. I like to think it was a good year. Cool bike.

So happy to see you appreciate such a cool price of American history.
Beautiful. I am picking up a 1962 Schwinn Racer in black tomorrow as my next project bike. I can't wait to get started on it. This bike will join my current project a 1964 Collegiate also in black. Your videos have inspired me to dive into the old Schwinns. I am loving the quality of workmanship and the simplicity of design.
I scored a beautiful blue one last week. Lights and 3 speed work well. Seat is not original. No rust. Saving it for retirement in 15 years.
Gorgeous bike.
Hey bud had a awesome Schwinn as my first . It was bought at a yard sale in the yr 1975 -It was the size your showing , it had two speeds a granny gear then a higher gear with a generator and light . Haven't a clue what the yr or model was but it was a Schwinn . It would fly once you was able to pop it in to that low or high gear - Thanks dude awesome . Bicycle theft was high back in the day .
Man you got an eagle eye on classssic bikes! No doubt!
Nice! I’ve got a 63 racer and 75 Speedster.
Great vid. I'm going over a 56 Schwinn Racer now.

That's a sweet bike!
COOL MAN!!
...I had one just like that about 50 years ago...except it had the fin shaped front fender...went from there to a blue Continental...then a yellow Super Sport...always wanted a Paramount...never got one...
Who doesn't love an old Schwinn? I still take out the '77 Varsity now and again just for kicks. It hasn't always been carbon, "brifters" and 11 speed cassettes kids!
Totally agree, keep all original. Clean, lube, polish, yada yada yada. Although, you do want cables & brakes to work too! Maybe a Jell Seat? Haha, kidding of course. Lol's
I shave a 63 racer. Did some come without fenders?
On The Hole it looks pretty Good ....
I’ve got an old blue 1967 schwinn racer with generator/headlight/tail light that still works
good bicycle
I used to have this bike and for how heavy it was it was pretty damn fast
I had the same bike but in black in the 60s, I remember the bike having hand and pedal brakes. I raced a kid on a mini-bike and beat him. Great memories. I'd like to buy one just like it.
I just picked up a Schwinn Racer model which when I did my homework on the serial number, it looks to be one that was made in May, 1966.... However, the decals on the frame are not where yours are located, the Schwinn signage are on the top bar and not the diagonal bar... Could this be because someone was trying to restore the bike and put it there mistakenly..!!!
Schwinn has been around a very, very long time
I'm with Tenspeed, shine her up and don't touch a thing, but entirely up to you.
I have a 1978 Raleigh Competition GS in almost perfect condition. All I am going to do to it is replace the bearings and give the chain a good cleaning. The former owner hardly used it. The Brookes saddle is still rock hard. My poor ass is going to break it in this spring.
It was a great find. Several months of Kijiji browsing. I have the original bill of sale and it was a $750 bike back then. Before winter set in, I drove it to work and it comes in my office with me. I lock to my desk, just to be sure.
It is pretty pristine. Since I took the the computer doo-hicky ring off the front hub. members.shaw.ca/michaelvester/bike.jpg
My local bike shop has a Schwinn racer but Its a men's beach cruiser vintage
It was "Rocky" Balboa Jr. in the fender. Nice guy. Hell of a fighter. You might'a heard'a him.
Had a black one w/ a period childs seat on the back.
I have that exact same bike same color same model mine is a 1964
Does it say Chicago on badge?
I have a black one like that and it flys
I literally just bought a Schwinn Racer just like that one.
Tires are very confusing for these bikes
Especially if it's certain Schwinn models because if I remember Schwinn back then you had to go to your local Schwinn dealership to pick the right tire for the model you had back then be it a Schwinn racer Traveler or if you had a early 50s Schwinn Town & Country tandem or a Schwinn middleweight yes indeed you had to go to the Schwinn dealership I guess that was the way they can make a good profit back then.
Hello Friend! My name is Jose. I buy a bicycle for $5 at a garage sale. Then check at home and have 3 speeds with your typical Sturmey Archer in good condition, then look your logo area and say: JC Higgins made in England and it also says: Sears Roebuck Co. And then look at your Sturmey Archer Hub on the back tire and it says: Sturmey Archer THREE SPEED 55 5, and I found a serial number on the front on the right side and it’s H58459. Now! My question according to your experience, is my bike ORIGINAL of the year 55 for $5 OR NOT ?? Thanks or GRACIAS AMIGO for your ANSWER !
Does anyone know how much this exact bike worth I just bought one exactly the same to it all original besides the tires and several chips off the paint no rust I paid 200$ for it can anyone help me and give me an estimate as to how much this bike is worth?
Depends where you live. In the Midwest they get about $150 for such bike
I have a 1950herculesade in England
It's on mint condition
What did you pay for it?
This was before they invited Walmart
How much did you pay for it, Bikeman?
BIKE MAN - * Suggestion* for keeping I.D. on a bicycle , we always put our private info on a 3x5 card , Laminate It , and then tape a string on the back , Roll the laminated Card into a tight roll and slide it UP INSIDE the Seat post tube with the string hanging down , if the Bike is stolen & later discovered - The real Owner can ask the police to take off the seat and pull the string!
rentatrip1 What if the criminal checks inside the seat?
Better yet cuts off the cable.
A big shit fly has just landed on my dinner.
Just bought one like that for a lot of money. Baby boomer in the USVI . 🌴🆗
I have one in all original
I have the same exact bike mine was left out side and was turned into a coaster bike years ago. But then I found a girls 3 speed with new wheels and nice rims and even handle bars and stem and even a cool schwinn approved child carrier for my cooler . Anyways the pant is a little rough but I love this bike. Its kind of the star of this video > czcams.com/video/I71DLp9yNQo/video.html
