    Is it normal for pressure cooker to form condensation on the outside, also my pressure cooker has steam coming from the outer top lid? I did a custom recipe with chuck roast, do I press the steam release right when I start the pressure cooker starts cooking? or does it have to stay closed from the beginning until close to the end of cooking time? When do I release the top button

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 2 lety

      Yes there can be condensation from time to time on the outside. If notice it or any steam coming out the side I press down on my lid to get a firmer seal.
      You do not release any steam til your cooking is done. Some recipes call for Natural Release. This means you don't press the steam release you let it just sit and slowly let the steam out. When you do this you will not see steam, but it is releasing.
      If the recipe say to release the steam right when the time is up that is when you hit the release steam button.

    How do I alter the recipe for a frozen roast?

    Meat leaves behind Fond😁

  • @craciopio
    @craciopio Před 3 lety +1

    Didn’t see.. did you place oil in the pot to sear?

  • @jacobsnewadventures
    @jacobsnewadventures Před 4 lety

    Also, can you put frozen chick and frozen beef in it? If so, what is the difference?

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 4 lety +1

      You can cook from frozen. I would add a little more liquid and about 50% more time. But that is the best part of a Quick Cooker or Instant Pot you can start with frozen meat!!

    • @jacobsnewadventures
      @jacobsnewadventures Před 4 lety

      Awesome! I just got mine washed and put together and I need to find out how to do the first test, I think it’s in the book. Looks like it takes awhile to pressurize, then cook, then depressurization...so longer than I initially thought

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 4 lety +1

      It takes time depending kn how much you have in it. All the liquid needs to come to boil to make steam which is what starts the cooking 🙂

    • @jacobsnewadventures
      @jacobsnewadventures Před 4 lety

      Pampered Chef With Katie well, that’s what it would do on the stove too so I can think of it that way. I’ve also never had a pressure cooker so this is all new

  • @theresajopson4157
    @theresajopson4157 Před 4 lety

    I cannot find much in my book on how to sear can you explain? Thx !

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 4 lety

      The sear function is just like using a pan on the stovetop. It is like a medium high heat. When cooking meat searing the outside helps keep all the juices in when you cook it. Or if you are making a quick dish and need to cook your onion or carrots before hand so they soften up. When I make cheesecake I use sear to cook down my fruit topping! So good and I only dirty 1 pot. Hope that helps!

    • @theresajopson4157
      @theresajopson4157 Před 4 lety +1

      I know what it is for what I was asking is how to do it on the machine? Does it need to preheat?

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 4 lety

      @@theresajopson4157 sorry. It needs just a few seconds to heat up. It gets up to temp very fast.

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 4 lety

      @@theresajopson4157 and you just turn the knob to the sear function and hit start.

    Why does it need to naturally release? Would it not cook all the way if you manually release?

    • @PamperedChefWithKatie
      @PamperedChefWithKatie  Před 4 lety

      Truth I just follow the recipe. I think it is kind of like letting the meat rest. The heat shuts off and the the steam slowly releases. But truthfully that is a guess.

    • @jacobsnewadventures
      @jacobsnewadventures Před 4 lety +1

      That makes sense because it does need to rest. Was moist when it came out or did you let it rest longer after taking it out? I just bought the quick cooker because I’m a single mom and this mom ain’t got no time ;) so I need to save time and hassle and this looked like it would do that. Do you have other quick cooker videos? I love how real you are and I thought you did a great job!

    Enjoyed watching your video. Great job! You are good at this (-:
    Piece of advice, however. PLEASE do not touch your hair and face while teaching us to cook. Also, sink clean or not, do not take kitchen tools to use if they've been in your sink.
