(HOW TO) use 2K clear on model cars/clear over decals

on this video I will be showing you how to use 2K clear on model cars. everything I mentioned in this video I will provide a link so you can find them easy!
when you are spraying 2K clear coat do 2 to 3 even coats or until you are satisfied!
if you want to do clear coat on top of clear is do so. if you would like to clear your body before you put on details you can do that. put on one to two coats of clear on the body. let it dry for at least 7 to 10 hours at that time is touch dry and you can carefully put on your decals. be very careful do not press on the cricut because it is still curing at that time. then put on the second part of clear less than 12 hours. because the clear you put on before the decals it is still curing at that time.
clear coat dry time
a clear coat is touch dry in 7 to 10 hours but do not handle it as much. clear coat to harden takes 1 to 3 days to fully dry.
airbrush.
if you have a gravity feed airbrush spray between-------10 to 15 PSI
if you have a suction ear bush that has a cup on the bottom spray
between------15 to 20 PSI
& I use a 1.5 ml needle.

I am about to spray 2k clear coat over water transfer decals on my Harley-Davidson gas tank. I have heard that the 2k clear coat with urethane reducer can dissolve the decal. What are your thoughts on this topic? Currently, my 2k paint/clear coat paint job is 25 days old and the water transfer decals have been applied 7 days ago. I am just concerned about damaging the water transfer decals with a protective coat of 2k clear with the urethane reducer. Thank you for any help you may offer on this topic.

House of Color intercoat clear will work for decals also. It's like spraying base coat paint but it's clear. You can also use it with there concentrate candy's. It dries really fast. Then finish with clear coat.

Great video. Although instead of using automotive clear when I decal I’ll use a Createx clear #5604 then use the 2K on top of the decals because it dries much faster and I’m sure something in the uvls line will work as well. I also believe you’re probably using a .15 needle you said in the video you’re using a 1.5 and in the description. A 1.5 needle is an automotive size needle.

I love your paint job and clear coating. Big fan. I'm a beginner and I just having a bit of spots on my paint job and I haven't no idea what I'm doing when wet sanding.

Nice work, I used the Spray Max 2K clear coat (rattle can) ($25/can at Auto finishers paint shop) when I repainted my Girlfriends motorcycle, it works well. I basically used 1 can on the tank, 1 can on the front/ rear tins. Anyway downside using rattle can have to use it within 24-48 hrs, If know how you want to base paint your models just get a group of them ready for clear and spray them all in one shot. Should cover about 5-8 models, I don't have an airbrush so all of my jobs are rattle can. What part of NYS you from? I am from Fingerlakes region, you just got a new subscriber.

Hey great video and amazing result. I have one question, it looks you apply clear coat over clear plastic (windshield, etc) right? I ask because I have just finished a model and I want to apply 2K clear coat over whole model but my concern are decals and clear parts. Thanks

Just bought mine, do you have any tricks of how you might store? I used the first time and noticed that a crust developed on the rim of the container.
Preventing a skin or hardening is a issue after exposed to air. I use a small quart container.
Nice video but I was wondering why you can’t wait longer to apply a second coat of clear since you don’t sand down the base coat before applying the first coat so it has to stick to smooth surfaces …
Can you use Acrylic Clear over decals? I just have Tamiya spray can clear

So, “2K Clear” really just means automotive 2 part clear with the clear and the “Activator/hardener”? Can they be sprayed on top of an Acrylic model paint like Tamiya, Vallejo, etc?
You didn't mention temperature ranges needed to spray. Here in E. Tennessee 40 degree days during winter are normal. Can you spray in lower temps and if so, what are dry times? Thanks for any help.
That’s what the reducers are for. Slow, Medium and Fast depending on temperature. You will need to look at the specific brand temp ranges.
