The thermal imaging camera found the problem straight away. Really a good time saving device. Cheers Dean.
Very expensive but it seems to be well worth it in his case
thats the thing, they an that expensive now. cameras like these would have cost 1000 only a few years ago.
Look a great machine what time saver, and another great fix by Dean 💪👍👍
Love seeing Virutex. Their gear is very specific for use, but highly regarded for quality in industry. It was nice to see/hear you not talk shit about them.
16:56 When you say it's been awhile since I've worked on a tool it's always like you did it yesterday! A good memory now days is almost non-existent. The reason I watch your videos
Good memory and good attention span are as rare as it gets
This Channel with Dean's encyclopedic repair knowledge of these power tools is an extremely valuable resource. There are a few like this Channel out there and will be referenced more and more as we get older and forget how they get repaired. I'm typing from experience unfortunately. I hope these videos are not lost to history.
I bought one of them in 2006 paid 1000 euro new at the time, did hundreds of doors with it, always stored it in my house to keep it dry when not in use, sold it last year for 750 euros think they are 1600 new now, best investment I ever made, can't do doors anymore, my back is shagged, but they are worth their weight in gold on time saved
And another tool I've never seen befor. Wow, great job Dean. Love the helpful heat thing. Gives ya look at things ya can't see warming up. Very nice
That is a very nice tool Cutting several mortices for locks on a build is a pain, so this is a lovely solution.
What a strange tool, never seen before. My brother could have used it in his previous life. Good job on the repair!
First one I’ve seen dean and I’ve been in the trade some 30 years nice one
Almost 40 years a joiner and never seen or heard of them.........As you say Dean a specialist tool for someone who just hangs doors. I've got one that you manually clamp on the door and use a SDS drill with the supplied cutters to remove the timber for the lock.
When it comes to grommets that Bosch one is basically all you need; fits most brands smaller tools. Thanks again for the vid!
Bosch spares to the rescue. They fit Parkside surprisingly well 😅
Wow amazing how easy you make it look 👍
Which is how we know how difficult it might be and how bloody good Dean is at his profession. 👍👍
Excellent video, Dean. Well done.
thanks!
I've used this very type, the boss bought one for our commercial side of the business and it was a beast you could do all the doors on a site in record time also could be set up to "router" the face plate in too with minimal chiselling to finish off! The on off switch is a pain though stiff and temperamental.......🥵
I wish the butchers that build my house had used something like this. *EVERY* damn lock in the house is off in some way or another. Door hinges are the same. Some of the hinge pins were bent due to the hinges being installed out of kilter and I had to hammer them straight and then try and rest the hinges so it wouldn't happen again. The bathroom was so bad it had an automatic opening door.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Fascinating stuff. Thank you for posting a rarer tool.
That was a very satisfying fix. What an interesting tool. As others have said, like a proto Domino.
These are great machines if you have the volume of work for them.
I paid about €1000 for my one nearly 20 years ago so they aint cheap.
It looks like a manual festool domino from the past
Brilliant job Dean
Great job
Thanks again Dean!!
Thank you Sir
Fun fact: The circlips are actually directional. You can put them on the right way or the wrong way. They are stamped out in the manufacturing, so one side is more rounded and the other side is sharper.
Thanks a lot for the explanation, well done.
I picture Festool making a Frankenstein of a tool like this, when they were designing their Festool Domino.
Any idea how much longer it may have taken before you settled on changing those bearing if you didn't have the thermal camera? As you mentioned they felt ok and you couldn't feel the heat of the bottom one. I suppose it wouldn't take that many jobs like this one before it paid for themselves in your time alone. I was just wondering what came first, the bearing press accessory tools or the socket? 🤔🤷♂
*Thank You* for the videos Dean. They are very much appreciated and because of what you have showed us I am going to buy an Einhell / Ozito budget brand rotary hammer drill for a DIY job at home. I don't think I would have purchased one without gaining the knowledge your videos about them have provided. *Thank You* for that also. 👍👍
Brilliant
Must be brilliant when making the door itself or any other furniture with 2 - 4" stock where you want to use lose or regular tenons.
I like different 😊
Hi Dean can't seem to find a locking pin for my DeWalt d28113-lx have you got any links ,cheers great show by the way
I admire these tools BUT I hate working on them. So many parts, so much going on and the drawings here in Australia are horrific 😵💫
Hey Love the repair and the video.
Great repair of the VIRUSES 😂😂😂
Keep it up, fantastic content!
Looks expensive and complex, isnt there really simple jigs for the same thing this does?
So its for doing multiple doors?
Just wondering about the alenkeys. Are they good, you seem to have them a while and if there are good where do u get them.
Damn it. Another tool i don't need but want..500+ doors and I'm doing it wrong.
Thumbnail says "Viruses" 😁
Another expensive machine saved from the dumpsite and given a second life.
