Gun is a Western-themed[2][3] action-adventure video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Xbox 360 (as a launch title) in 2005. The PlayStation Portable version was released a year later under the title Gun: Showdown, this version features new side-missions, a multiplayer mode, and other additions that were not available in the console versions.
During its first month, the game sold 225,000 copies across the four console systems for which it was initially released. The game had sold over 1.4 million units in the United States as of October 2008. It was well received by game critics and won several awards, including GameSpy's Xbox 360 Action Game of the Year.
Gun features an action role-playing game environment, including side-missions that add to the story. Players control the protagonist, Colton White, from a third-person perspective. Side-missions improve the player stats. Players can purchase upgrades using money obtained from these optional activities and by mining gold veins.[citation needed]
While traveling from town to town, bandit attacks are frequent and players must either escape or defend themselves. Players can hunt and kill various animals like buffalo, wild horses, and even stray dogs and farm animals. The player can also cause mayhem within communities, but can attract attention from lawmakers and other gunslingers by doing so. They act as gunslingers protecting righteousness or seek reputation as they face resistance fighters, local lawmen, renegade soldiers and vengeful Apaches and Blackfoot. A Town Patience meter goes down every time a civilian is killed. Once the patience meter reaches zero, a showdown ensues between the player and the locals.
Several minigames are included in Gun. As the player progresses through the game, they can choose to complete side missions, including poker tournaments, cattle herding, law enforcement, time trials and bounty hunting.

This game makes me think about my dad he bought this game and had me teach him how to use the ps2 controller and he loved it thanks for the good memories. I lost my dad two years ago so this was nice.
My condolences for your father
@@EkarDGames Appreciate that he was my best friend fuck cancer
@@EkarDGames same here
Gun and Red dead Revolver our favorite game me and my pa he passed away 10 years ago we're not really close but we both love wild west stuff
2+2=4
This game was way ahead of it's time. Definitely deserves a remake and a sequel
Definitely needs a remake. Would love to re experience the memories
I remember it being quite short, so if they ever do that maybe they could make it longer.
Man I loved this game when I was a kid the nostalgia I'm getting is crazy. Thanks for reminding me of my childhood, i remember being so proud of myself when I finished it.
"I Remember when I was Just A Young Buck!"
Well you are right to be proud, I managed to beat Hollister just thank to a glitch when I was a kid.
Thanks Dad, he introduced me to Gun, then Six-Guns, then Red Dead Redemption, then Red Dead 2. I miss you Pa
This was my Red Dead Redemption before Red Dead Redemption. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Edit: Don't forget about the secret stash of unlimited ammunition in a hole in the ground next to the chimney of Coltons childhood home in the plains where the buffalo graze. You need to grab a TNT barrel from Empire City and carry it all the way to the house, set it next to the chimney, then blow it up.
theres tnt in a mine near it :D no more carrying tnt that far
I wish I played this game😂
What about read dead revolver
@@base21 RD Revolver is so different from a gun that's no point comparing them. only thing they share is a western theme
@@aelfwynn94they’re pretty similar. Even the main characters dress alike.
This game was my childhood tbh I’m glad to see it still being played
You can tell Jayvee stopped playing Valhalla because of how happy he's in his videos as of late.
This game was so much fun back in the day, I remember my friend owned this and we would play it nonstop until we beat it
Onr of my first 100%achievement games
did you beat it with your friend often
I truly thought no one else knew about this game, crazy nostalgia
Dude I loved this one! Totally deserving of a remake or something. Or a sequel!
BTW Jayvee, I'm loving this new approach in your videos. It's super fun to watch lol. Keep it up dude.
oh thanks man!! I'm having a ton of fun so I'm glad people are enjoying :)
Remake ? We got RDR2 so thats it =)
It’s called RED DEAD
@@Code4You1 so just cause it's a western, it's all good? This is the same thing when people say Ghost Of Tsushima is Assassin's Creed in Japan... It's not just about the setting and the gameplay, the LORE of Assassin's Creed makes it an AC game. Same with a Gun remake, it would be Gun lore, Gun world, not just a western themed game...
@@Code4You1 bună românule
"Gun," was my first and only western game until RDR2 and it was a great game with a solid story.
Well if youve played 2 already if you havent yet go play 1
I loved this game and played literal hundreds of hours of it. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, I haven't played this in probably over 10 years, but it was cool to see the crazy cinematic cutscenes with all the great voice actors, music and camera movement. Can we get a part 2?
I like how the creators of Tony Hawk pro skater made this. Sense they NEVER made a western shooting game they all underestimated there skill and focused all there energy into Story and story writing. By hiring Western movie Directors to create and direct the story. But it not only made a great story but also great gameplay.
The controls are wonky by modern standards but the whole game still holds up
Absolutely loved this game growing up! The voice acting was top notch too. You got Thomas Jane as Colton (The Punisher), Lance Henriksen as Thomas MacGruder (Alien), Brad Dourif as Reverend Reed (Chucky), Ron Perlman as Hoodoo Brown (Hellboy), and so many more! I honestly took for granted how many well known actors were in this masterpiece of a Red Dead knock off, and you can’t convince me otherwise!
Kris Kristofferson as
Ned White, and Tom Skerritt as Clay Allison. Damn I miss this game.
Its not a red dead knock off red dead came out like 1 or 2 years later
@@universeyt2410 no I was referring to Red Dead Revolver which came out in 2004. Red Dead Redemption is essentially a spiritual successor to that game
@@MisterMcSquishy oh i see i would like to offer you my sincerist apology
@@universeyt2410 and I accept it lol
Man haven't played this in 15 years man I feel old but this is a classic that I think didn't get the respect it deserves.
before we had red dead redemption we had this masterpiece, the good ol days
I'm so glad this game has not been forgotten, such a good game
Still remember going to my cousins house when i was 5 years old watching them play this game!
Love cousins
I remember turning the music up on my old ass box TV when I would replay the intro because for whatever reason the game never truly saved. A truly beautiful soundtrack. The Webb & Rudabaugh boss fight was always so intense, and I never fully beat the game back then because I couldn't kill Reed in his battle at the boat. I remember thinking it was so cool you could blow limbs off of Hoodoo when his body was on display after killing him. A fantastic classic, and one that deserves a spot on the top western games list.
Glad to see other people who remember GUN. This game was one of my favorites growing up
I genuinely liked Gun as much or more than RDR.
Great memories with my dad playing Gun. So underrated lol. This game is probably the reason I have 100+ hours on rdr2
I completely forgot i played this game back in the day,
thanks for the memories
Honestly this should’ve been a movie
Honestly, no
Gun was a masterpiece..
Please finish it!!!! I had so much nostalgia with you
Gotta say, Jay I’ve been here since the fallout 4 days. I’m loving this new approach, and I feel like you could do this kinda video (which it seemed like you enjoyed making) and then I would love to see some more of the video essays you used to do when you would review games and give feedback to developers. And I also understand that as a creator sometimes you have to do sponsored videos, but I prefer to here your “true” opinion. That’s just because I think you got good opinions. Anyways, love it, keep it up
really enjoy these kind of video on old games from you Jay. you should make more of it, there's still a lot of hidden gems out there :)
So glad you’re enjoying!! These are so fun to make so I’m definitely gonna do more :)
(10:15) "Jenny's kind of a second priority I'm really here to get some scalps" lmao this is a pretty interesting game
Holy fuck i had a nostalgia trip, i remember playing this on my ps2 and being blown away from the graphics, also i remember at the end of the game you can get a broken ass shotgun by defeating the final boss, and at some point you blow a giant bridge, oh brother the memories
"No, this is Ned Talking"" (starts shooting) I loved that line.
this is what's holding Rockstar from launching RD4 already
My dad bought me this game as a kid. Absolutely loved it, just as much as red dead. Scalping was pretty lit too
This shit needs a remake asap, top tier game
such a good game man, its quite insane to see how fast gaming has developed, i remember this being pretty high end back in the day lol
I fucking adore GUN! My cousin and i played it to death just going into dodge and becoming wanted and blowing people’s heads up and then gettin’ outta dodge!
I replayed it on my crappy laptop my freshman year of college a couple years ago and still had a blast
This is literally the game that made me consider Red Dead 1 when it came out. Although I'm pretty sure our brains remember it with better graphics 🤣
riiiiight I just told my brother a minute ago that I remembered it with awesome graphics lol
We need a remake of gun and
Darkwatch
This is awesome, I’m so glad I came across this video, I remember playing this game so much when I was younger on my PS2, such and awesome game 💯
man, having only Nintendo products at home and a PS1 when growing up. This was one of those games on Game Cube that blew me away. So gritty and mature. Lmao, I love Gun so much.
I was thinking about this game the other day.
I absolutely love this game! I remind people about it constantly, it's one of the many games I believe deserve a remaster
ive been watching all these old games having some awesome yet sat nostalgic moments I miss the simplicity in these days thanks for going back and replaying them.
Thank you for reliving my childhood, wow this game is so nostalgic!!
The gore in Gun holds up even today one of my favorite parts of the game.
you activated a childhood memory of watching my brother play this game I didn't even know I had.
Before Red Dead Redemption... this was our western
The Alhambra’s on fire 🔥
This game had so many great voices in it. Thomas Jane, Kris Kristofferson, lance Henrikson, Ron Perlman, Brad dourif, Tom Skerritt. Loved playing this wish it would get a remaster or a sequel.
I'm almost 19 yrs old now, this game was and still is my fav game for sure, I remember when I had my classic xbox, I used to play "Gun" on afternoons, my mother always asked me if I alr had complete the game every time she saw me playing, now I play this on PC to remember those golden memories of my childhood 💛☄️
You just brought back a memory I never knew I had , incredible
Played this game more than twice when I was a kid, it’s kinda amazing how this game made its way to China, albeit pirated, and became a huge part of my and many others’ childhood. Just bought this game on GOG to thank the devs for the incredible experience.
Thank you so much for sharing this, it brought me soooo many memories of my childhood!!!
All the nostalgia!!!! What a game .... Am liking the way you're showing old games some love keep it up my dude
fucking banger of a game, both great games but:
gun > red dead revolver
@@Suspicious-Carl tough honestly
Both were good actually
Ahhh man this game was the greatest! Wish there was a remastered version, luckily I still have it for the PS2 I should play it one day.
I remember trying to play this game on my "gaming rig" at the time... It ran... um... reasonable. I mean, it was an awesome slide show with 2 maybe even 5 FPS at times! Sadly I never finished this game. I remember getting stuck at the part when you had to shoot the arrows on the bridge. Couldn't wait for the cut scene to finish, so I just started doing something else. Never touched this game since. Maybe it's time for a revisit...
Every minute spent playing Gun was an absolute delight, I couldn't get enough of it.
I remember me and my dad used to play this every night after dinner ,you can see so much of this in the red dead games
This game seems remarkabley well made for its time. Man there were SO many good ps2 games
I love this game! This video encouraged me to dust my PS2 off and hook it up again to play. As a kid playing as someone with the same name as me was really cool as well.
This brought back serious memories. Thanks for the awesome flashbacks!
Wow. This brought back some memories. I hope some day we can see the world so simple again.
Great video. I remember playing this game a lot when I was a kid as well. I have beaten this game 12 times and still love it to this day! :)
I've been trying for so long to remember the name of this magnificent old game that I used play when I was little. Man, just when you went into the city I knew this was it. Thank you and nice gameplay👌✌️
LOVED GUN! OMG this brings back memories! I loved this game so damn much when i first played it on my PSP, waaaay back in the day. It was RDR way before that game came out. It is probably the reason why i was so damn into RDR when it finally released. Made me love Wild West games over all i honestly think.
That makes two of us who remember this game. I would always do the TNT barrel spot for unlimited ammo. I 100% this game for the cannon gun and everything, masterpiece.
This was my favorite game growing up and I was glad I played it what an amazing and underrated game. I’m so sad it never got a sequel 😔
had this on GameCube I remenber... dude you unlocked some core memories of mine lol love the vid man forreal
I think the mansion was my favorite mission if I remember correctly its later in the game
I remember playing this game when i was a very young child it was a lot of fun as well it deserves a remake or a remaster.
This game was awesome from the voice cast alone.
You literally unlocked some good memories with this video dude, damn I loved this game😎
RE4 came out in 2004 on gamecube btw ;3
also nobody gonna talk about the epic voice cast in this game
Thomas Jane
Colton White (voice)
Lance Henriksen
Thomas MacGruder (voice)
Brad Dourif
Reverend Reed (voice)
Ron Perlman
Mayor Hoodoo Brown (voice)
Tom Skerritt
Clay Allison (voice)
Kris Kristofferson
Ned White (voice)
So good! Love the story, and there's so many well known performers in this: Thomas Jane, Kris Kristofferson, Ron Perlman, Brad Dourif, Tom Skerrit. Such a good western
Yeah, sadly it doesn't get recognized much for it. The cast is beyond amazing.
I just can't believe I found the title of this game after these so many years.
You are my legend, bro. Thanks!
One of the first games that my brain retained from when I was young, loved it! And what a story!
I think about this game ever once in a while it was great
0:52 holy shit same, the way he fell just triggered some nostalgia lmao
I was too young to have seen Jenny killed like that.
Great game n Great memories 👍👍😎
Everytime I hear Jenny tho, I can't help it by hearing "Jenny" in Forrest Gump accent 😂
this video brought me back to somewhere i missed being, thank you
i had this on a few things it was one of my favourite games growing up, i can still remember how so of the bad guys looks
This game an the first Call of Juarel really got me into western genre, also at the time a open world western game was mind blowing to me after watching The good, the bad and the ugly. I have a psyhical copy of it for PS2 and I still love looking at the cover after many years, it looks amazing
My grandpa bought me this when I was 6 because he's always loved westerns. It was a bit awkward when he saw me scalping people in it though 🤣
*GUN was my childhood*
Jenny: "He's coming back inside with me."
And... childhood's over 'cause today you are a man, cowboy. =)
🤠
I replayed this a few years back and I still enjoyed it just as much as I did when I was a kid
Makes me happy to see someone play this game it's been too long
My brain exploded. I totally played thid game when I was a kid!!!!! It is such a weird feeling to see all this stuff you remember for some reason but can't tell why. I LOVED THIS GAME and all this time I thought I had played red dead revolver lol but it was GUN
Damn. I remember playing this game at my cousins, just me and my brother played all night. Then years later i forgot the name but remembered the tutorial and the boat fight but couldnt find it. Eventually years later i bought a ps2 with the game. When i started playing it i had no idea that it would be the game i played all those years ago. Such nostalgia from a game i played one time for about 12 hours lmao.
WHO IS NED
🧐
The *GOAT*
NED IS GAVIN
@@hanahmichele6566 😂
Kris Kristofferson does his voice I believe
DUDE how many games do you play in a week! god damn your content the last weeks has been packed! Loved all of them, but sheesh do you play 24h a day 😂
This game was an absolute certified hood classic, i remember doing the glitch/ cheat the start of the game where you would crouch between some rocks, and get all the guns and stuff, good times.
I remember playing this game as a warm up while waiting on my Red Dead Redemption pre- order. Time flies by.
YESSS THIS GAME IS SO NOSTALGIC TO ME thank you for this video
Omg you just brought back suppressed memories of this game
brooooooo i forgot about this game, and ive never felt so nostalgic watching this
Bro this was the first game I ever played so crazzyyy good videoooo 🔥
This game was ahead of its time. Just plain fun!
Wow this brings back so much nostalgia I absolutely loved 😍 this game!
I’m convinced that I’d not have enjoyed red dead as much if I hadn’t played this before
This is one of my favorites for sure actually played it twice lol
