  • How many steps per day should you be taking to lose fat as quickly as possible?
A few years ago i began using walking as my primary form of cardio for myself and my competitive bodybuilder athletes who I coach. So what have i learned? First of all, walking has many forms. From the casual stroll to the incline treadmill the intensity and thus caloric expenditure can be vary different.
I have seen many 30 day challenges for 10k steps or even 20k steps and watched some amazing transformations. These 30 day challenges like the one I did can set off a great change in our life!
Steps don't need to be limited, in fact those who are naturally more active maintain a lower body fat than those who are more sedentary. Still this diet is the problem, well it can be. Even those who move more are capable of out eating and gaining body fat.
Breaking down the science behind fat loss, rapid fat loss, and how to lose that stubborn body fat such as the love handles, the lower back and even the core or abs which can seem to be problematic.
Remember, fat is not stubborn, we are!
How many steps per day to lose body fat as quickly as possible.

I can’t stress walking enough everyone thinks I’m nuts but I swear by it the most important cardio needed . I’m currently at 20,000 to 22,000 steps a day which is 8 to 10 miles I’m 48 and built like I’m in my late 20s early 30s . Currently just dropped 31 lbs to 181 I do everything Paul says and he is spot on . I’ve been in this game for 35 years trust me he knows what he’s talking about . My days start with the treadmill and end with the treadmill . 60 minutes each session. Listen people

I used to be very confused when I go somewhere with someone and they tell me "I'm tired, let's have a break". And all I can think of is "From what? Walking?". Not everyone can do it, but it is definitely the best long-term habitual solution when it comes to activity.

Hey guys just lost 100lbs in 9 months this is what I'm doing. 10k steps a day.
1-1.5hrs weight training and 30min cardio. Now the cardio doesn't count towards your 10k steps. For cardio i do 15 min of elliptical and 15min of treadmill 3.0 incline 2.7 speed couldn't run when i started and im still doing the same thing. Fyi i do also meal prep but start slowly. I'm not using supplements or anything. I started at 361 and am now 257 still losing more but slowly now but this is a marathon not a sprint

    • @TheWesrocks123
      @TheWesrocks123 Před 3 měsíci +2

@@sanjam11 so on average last year I would get like 6k steps a day. This is what I've averaged each month this year:
At first I wanted to hit it hard.
      Jan: 16k
      Feb: 21k
      March: 15k
      April: 14k
      May: 11k (so far)
It was very intentional. Either walking on a treadmill or walking my dog.
Like the video said it's kind of slow but just stick to it. I only recently started watching what I eat way closer. I did stop eating crap though when I wanted to slim down.

I am 67 years old. I have adopted this lifestyle for 2.5 months. I was at 240lbs 8 years ago.and lost 35lbs and kept it off but plateaued. After watching the channel and adopting steady state movement as my cardio plan I have dropped from 203lbs to 192 lbs! I have not been at this level since I was 24 years old. I follow the plan. I walk 11-15k steps a day, eat high protein and understand my macros (protein/carbs/fats ratios). Yea, I record my intake religiously and pump iron 4 days a week with intensity. The only change I can honestly say has been more movement. Last year I avg 3.500 steps a day. I have increased movement by 8.5k steps for last 11 weeks. This is the only notable difference to my behavior. over the time period Gratifying I have broken through my weight plateau and steadily my fat is coming off. Thank you pro physique!

    Totally agree, and great video!
I, like you, am a natural bodybuilder, and I have the following habits that keep me lean:
    1. I never stack my fridge full of food. I always end up eating the same stuff repetitively and throwing out food a week later. This is why I go to the store every single day and get fresh groceries. At least once. Sometimes I go there for every meal. It's about 6 minutes of walking there. Then 2-3 minutes in the store and another 6 back. It's not a lot, but it stacks up. But that's not all. I always try to avoid the nearest store, so I go to a bigger one that is about 20 minutes of walking away and 20 back, along with 5-10 inside the store. I have between 15 and 75 minutes of "grocery store cardio" almost every day.
    2. I have 2 gyms around me. One is 5 minutes away, just accross the store, and the other is 7 minutes in the opposite direction. Which one do I walk to? The one that is just past the 20-minutes away store. So I get 22 minutes of walking to get to the gym, and another 22 back. If I have more time during the day I walk to the gym that's 55 minutes away, so that's almost 2 hours of cardio on top of my workout. It's much easier than spending the same amount of time on a treadmill, or even half.
    3. Sometimes I go to the store on behalf of my girlfriend and do the groceries for her and then bring them to her, so that's more cardio.
So if you think about it, there's plenty of opportunities to create habits that will keep you active without even trying, or spending time at the gym. I rarely do cardio in the gym, except when I also do a workout or when it's raining or too cold.
Create habits that fit your lifestyle and you aren't even gonna feel like you're putting too much effort.

So you just answered one of my questions. Although I'm unable to walk much, I've had three lower back surgeries, lost partial use of my right leg and supposed to wear a leg brace. I've found I can ride a stationary bike just fine, so I just purchased one last week. and do 10-15 minutes after each meal and a 30 min somewhere in between. Which you said was fine. Would that also apply to resistance training? Like do a set of squats, then an hour later do a set of pulldowns, then an hour later do a set curls, etc. etc. Or should I do all my resistance training at the same time? For example, do 45 minutes upper body twice a week, and 45 minutes lower twice a week?

Ha!. I love the mental gymnastics when he says "I would never tell someone not to drive faster........ because it's dangerous........ if they like racing cars". Getting shredded is fine but if someone chooses to shoot up some "enhancements" I'll be the first to tell them not to. They may think they're aware of the dangers but deep down people think "it won't happen to me" and then regret it later. So yes definitely tell people not to driver faster. Drive at a moderate and safe pace. You don't want injuries in the gym or future medical problems from PEDs.

I’ve noticed in winter months I’ll put a layer of fat on as an evolutionary survival product. I would go from California to Scotland and change nothing, keep my diet dialed in and still put a layer of fat on, nothing changed other than the temp, as I train and eat rigorously. I believe it’s a survival thing where we put fat on for warmth in colder places or colder months. So with it being summer that helps in and of itself to help lose weight evolutionary wise mixed with proper diet and exercise.

    Question.
Started a calorie deficit weeks ago from 187lb. Losing weight week after week on average.
But once i got under 180lbs, why does my weight stay 100% the exact same for 7-10 days and then one day it will drop 1lb. And then repeat.
For example, i was stuck at 178.7 for over a week. Scale was exact same every morning. I weigh myself after i get up and after i pee) Then one morning, 177.2. Then it was stuck at that weight again for the same time period and i dropped to 176.3. Again, over a week at exactly that weight and this morning, im at 175.2lb.
I eat literally the same meals every day because thats whats easy for me to do.
I know your weight will fluctuate with water etc, but mine stays 100% the same and then one day drops and i cant find anything as to why.

Vary the incline throughout the workout and also change walking speed. The more adaptive you become , the more body has to change to overcome plateau. Bump up your incline every 2 mins . As you up incline you can bring speed down and vice versa. I am now going all the way upto to max incline to 25% . This is the pinnacle. My walking speed move from 3.8 to 4.8 on avg over 45 mins

I’m a physical therapist and yes, I think it’s smart to not jump right into 25-30000 steps if you’re currently nowhere near that, simply because a massive jump can cause overuse injuries like plantar fasciitis. Some people adapt quickly but others don’t, and age makes a difference, too. As we get older, it can get a bit more difficult to recover from doing too much too soon. See what your body can handle to start off with and increase from there!

It´s true with just walking you can burn a lot of Calories. 16000 Steps are around 1000 Calories. But if your Insulin is high and your diet is rich in carbs it won´t work. The last job I had was as Storman. I walked at least 30000 Steps a day only at work. I restricted my diet in carbs and used intermitted fasting and that worked damn good. I lost 5 kg of body weight in just one week, and it kept burning fat even when I slept. Difficulties can be having enough protein intake and enough energy to do a workout each day. As far as I experienced it is bodyfat perfect for everything that has a low intensity and lasts long but if you pumping weights it may depend on how efficiently your body can convert protein into glucose, because for such activities you need something that supports fast energy.

So any movement was going to start to drop weight from me. I tried incline a few weeks in. But wasnt right time so stuck to flat walking increasing steps. Along with weights. Went a little goggins for awhile. Lol. I would say last 3 week consistantly did incline. Started on 2 miles an hour. My treadmill doesnt have incline so got creative to create a hill. Now on second week of joining gym. All weights and incline done there. Can get up to level 25 on 30 incline treadmill. This helped alot. So did having less weight. I do pace 2.4 at whatever height I can talk at. 1 hour 5 x a week. But sweat alot. Wish I could show you pic fkr inspiration. On Coach Pauls current challenge. The coaches and people are amazing.
