- Here's Kate's appearance on The Late Late Show broadcast by RTE1 in Ireland on March 25, 1978. This is the video posted by "katebushfilms" a few months ago but sadly, that channel no longer exists. Hope he/she doesn't mind me re-upping this rare TV appearance for us poor fans who can't get enough of Kate. ;)

Well I definitely remember this performance. As a nearly 16 year old in Ireland then it made a HUGE impression on me. It was just so new, so different at the time. Exotic and mysterious. Probably defined my future musical tastes. A huge fan ever since.
Great singer, great sonwriter, great dancer and so heavenly gorgeous. Talented all the way to the very bone.

one of the most beautiful talented eloquent unique and modest artists of all time. The talent is from her Irish side obviously. My first real schoolboy crush. I even went out with a hire who looked a bit like her❤

Oops.someone wasn't organized. Simple for the tv crew to either plug her mic in or keep the shot tight enough so we cannt see the end of the cord. Funny how this was missed. Not Kates fault, she was awesome. After watching many of her live music or interview vidoes, it seems to me she never had the " right" manager helping her. If she had someone like Brian Epstein helping her, she could have done even a global tour, and more publicity, but all in a high quality way, and all in a way that would have made her comfortable...but she never found that help, and so it is. I'm am greatful to her team for helping her with all we do see on youtube. Thank you!
She refused to have a manager. She had seen singers be destroyed because at first they could only get small time managers and got tied into horrible contracts with them. So she avoided them altogether. You have to think when you begin or are in the midde ..only small managers or middling managers will work with you ..she understood that was fair enough ...but it was why she always avoided them.
Also I think KB never wanted to do touring, and in the interview she specifically mentioned her intention to keep her mother's maiden name private. She is a private individual, I can respect that. Her career was mostly spent in the studio. She's a smash star either way, an absolute treasure.
Personally I find some of her later material pretty bland, I suspect that was due to all the marijuana.

Just like listening to the official video. If you closed your eyes and listened, you’d think it WAS the official video.
You don't get that boldness in solo performances very much on TV these days. The audience looked baffled and she carried on regardless. She has always struck me as half prim and proper wallflower and the other half is a wailing banshee (but in a good way).

The time code, was fixed, on the original VHS tape. Impossible to remove when uploading onto CZcams

A shame she mimed. She did have a dose of a cold/flu though, on this day.
I bet she was singing just possibly not as polished as the mixed album. I mean there was no band there either, so that must have been recorded too. In any case we are all watching it on CZcams which is itself nothing but a recording.
Imagine having been there in that very small audience that night!
