- This is my progress on ukulele with recordings throughout my first 2 years of learning the instrument! I'm being really vulnerable sharing this, as it's surfacing my older, cringier youtube videos (lol), but I wanted to share my improvement with you guys! I hope it gives you some encouragement that ukulele takes time and practice to get good at!
UKE RECOMMENDATIONS
This is the first ukulele I owned if you want to check it out! I highly recommend, and I still play it today!

Hey guys!!! My sister, Eden, just posted a video on her 6 month ukulele progress and it's great!!! If you want some more encouragement, here is the link: czcams.com/video/lneXjD9Cz0I/video.html
Elise Ecklund hey! When will you make a new stream?
Elise, this video is great both of them are very nice 👍🏼😄💞
Elise Ecklund ONG THE YEAR AND FOUR MONTHS WAS FUR ELISE THAT MY FAVORITE PIANO SONG
Elise Ecklund hi personly I think your sister did a good job
Elise Ecklund I absolutely love your videos, I hate to be needy but I’ve been trying my best but can seem to play these two songs: “Fool” by cavetown and “tongue tied” by group love and I would love if you could post a tutorial❤️
her day two progress is literally better than my one year progress!!!
Eita
these comments are really not fun
Same
That's alright. She was trained in similar instruments. You can get better👍🏻
Same
Her second day:
*plays a song and sings*
My second day:
*cant strum can’t sing can’t remember notes*
Me too lol🤣
meee
yeah but she played guitar before that
@@autisticburrito1056 yeah exactly. She was amazing at guitar so she basically had to only learn the chords
Ive playes for a day and i got the really basics down
I have been playing ukulele for 0 days and the one challenge I have come across is not owning one

I'm hairdresser and a musician, lots to watch in this video!! 😂😂
How inspirational is it that she didn't start off with riptide?! 😂
@cuteFuzzycat123 lmao 😂
i thought riptide will be easy, but all that strumming and singing at the same time is so hard :D
Her second day- playing and singing beautifully.
Mine- putting my mouth on the sound hole to check my echo...
haha
Chandna Awasthi literally same 💀
Litetally Me😳
Haha I did same! Echo echo echo club
I know THAT I am like the 6th person. to say same but, SAME
I cant believe you've only been playing for 2 years you are so good!
awh thank you!!:)
it's not that hard I had this skill after a couple of hours practice lol. But I'm already skilled with guitar
She also played guitar already so her 2 day progress is not typical of a beginner. But I love that she is so positive and encouraging with her community.
I’m Hawaiian so I grew up with ukuleles in my house and occasionally would pick it up when I was younger. Around 11 years old (2011) I learned how to play my first songs, just some basic stuff like twinkle twinkle little star and happy birthday but it wasn’t until 5 years later until I seriously started to play. You could probably guess who my inspiration was lol. After finding tøp I wanted to learn how to play their songs and since Tyler plays ukulele I wanted to as well and play just like him 😊
Edit: actually you too Elise! Finding your channel really helped me learn the songs I love in a really simple and easy way that I needed especially when I was a beginner so thank you so much!
hey fren
yup. After I saw tyler play the ukulele I was sold.
Yoooo me too!!! my grandmother is Hawaiian so I had a very nice ukulele in the house and I picked it up a few times before finding the pilot boys and becoming inspired to continue and actually learn to play like tyler did !!! and we share a name so that helped shhfhsha
2 days practice, you already know how to sing at the same time STRUM THE UKULELE!
Meme Otaku well i think she played guitar beforehand so she kinda knew what she was doing
I could do that the day i started playing my
Invisible ukulele that I don't have 😏
Nothing special
She played guitar beforehand, so she was more familiar with singing and strumming. She also knew how to transition pretty good because of that guitar experience, she just had to learn new chords.
funny cat13 samme
Meme Otaku She played Guitar before she played Ukulele so that helped her.
I've been playing for almost 6 months and getting a little discouraged but this video makes me feel better about my progress. It's not really fast progress but it's steady. Now I'm inspired to keep going and pushing along.
Yes! I'm so happy to hear that!! Keep pushing forward!!:)
I've been playing the ukulele 6 months as you and i started learning Bodysurfing by Honoka and Azita :) learning the ukulele i think is just a question of time and a lot of practise, i'm able to do intermediate fingerstyle and doing the E chords or bars chords don't bother me anymore xD but well i practise ALL DAYS so i recommend you the same to reach a high level :3
Alaska_Jan how on Earth are you learning that beautiful song? It’s really difficult!...where can I learn haha
YAAAAAAAAS I MADE A CAMEO
fiorella yea
Omg congrats lol. 👌😁👍
Eden Ecklund cool!
Cutee
Your voice gave me shivers!! 😊
I’ve been attempting for just under a month. Progress is minor, cursing is high
accurate
very
Don't give up!!
i've been playing for 3 weeks and sometimes i get so mad but still continue and hope i can strum normally. And btw how is your uke journey going?
Why didn't you say cursing is *major*
You sounded so good when when you started and even more later on
awh thank you!!:)
Elise Ecklund your welcome ps I can’t believe you replied you made my whole day
You inspired my to play the Ukulele
That is awesome!! I'm so happy to hear that
Same
Me too I bought one today lol

ive been playing ukulele for 10 months now and this is very encouraging :)
I'm so happy to hear that!! Keep on strumming friend
caitlin morgan really?? Me too, ive been practicing for 2 months and I watch elise's videos everyday
You see, I am right now in the beginning state of learning uke like you were. Hopefully I can do the same thing in two years!
Sol Studios ii8
Hey, how are you doing now ? :D
6:47 The moment, she realized, that memes and playing ukulele can possibly be combined...
I really need to buy a ukulele because you inspire me so much
Same here! Elise inspired me so much and I am buying a ukulele! ❤
|-/ :)
Did you get to buy a ukulele yet fren? I just got mine and I love it so much
Me too
Ive been playing ukulele for about a year and a half now and my biggest struggle is strumming patterns idk what it is but it's hard for me. I don't practice every day so there's that I guess. I played guitar a little when I was younger but wasn't very good at it. I figured uke might be easier since it's smaller and less strings (I'm a small person so it matters). Of course twenty one pilots got me into playing the uke but I'm glad I made the impulse buy off of amazon while I was Christmas shopping for my family. It's fun and helps me relax after class. I just look up how to play a song Ive had in my head that day and practice til I'm happy with it. Along with you and a few other CZcams tutorials too I can't thank you enough for making your videos. Your vids help me tweak my style to make it better and inspire me to try new techniques and practice more.
Ahhh that's so awesome that you've been keeping it up for a year and a half!! Keep on going and practicing those strumming patterns! I know you will achieve your goals eventually!:) Thank you for sharing your story! I'm honored to hear that my tutorials have helped play a part in your progress
when i play ukulele i try to sing and it just get confused and the strumming goes from DDUUDU to DDUDUUDDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDD
That Weird Kid that happens to me too. try starting with single strums while singing so you can get use to the chords. you have to drill the strumming pattern into your mind
That Weird Kid
I usually would mute the fret board with my left hand and say the strumming pattern while strumming. Hope that helps
Goes from uke to Run and Go by TØP lol
Im sruggling with strumming..
Wow this must have taken years to film 😂😂
zanna thomas she just used the clips she already had recorded and posted

Everyone like: her 2 day progress is better then my 1 year progress
Me: does no one remember she played guitar
i keep forgetting, i had to constantly remind myself throughout the video that she has experience with other instruments so i don’t need to be discouraged hahah
That's what I was thinking!
*crys with fingers hurting, my ukulele tuner and stand coming later and not sooner*
Imagine being this pretty
and this good at playing so many instruments
and such a fast learner
and this smart
and this funny
and this good at entertaining.
You're amazing Elise!
Edit: *1 year 10 months* we have upgraded to Wii. Time to rule the internet
OH SNAP BOTH SISTERS UPLOAD ON THE SAME DAY. name a more iconic duo!! I dare you!

She is FAB always dou!!
I played ukulele for a while but I quit. You inspired me to start playing again! Thank you!
May_Rain 72 ahh that's so sad! Keep on trying. I thought I was hopeless but I eventually have gotten better and it really impresses people. I even am playing it for my class for a project! Good luck! Ily!💕👍
Kylee Walling thank you so much! After being inspired by Elise, I’ve been able to learn a song, now I’m working on a second song!
May_Rain 72 great! Have fun ! Uke 'n Do It!
Thanks for the inspiration! Good luck with impressing more people with your ukulele! Also, have fun with your class project!
May_Rain 72 hahaha thank you! Bye!😊😘
Thank you for keeping going with your ukulele playing, and for documenting your progress! I'm a music teacher, and I have already shown several of your videos to my students in class, especially since my 5th graders are going to be learning the uke this year! Thank you for your part in bringing the ukulele into mainstream popularity, and for providing my students a solid role model on what can happen when you keep going, and keep practicing.
I started ukulele a month ago and I feel like I should give up. But this video boosted my confidence. THANK YOUUUUUUU
kermit fam I’ve seen you before roaming in the comments 😂❤️
Same
kermit fam how's it going with your ukulele progress? I just started two days ago and was wondering if you have any tips?
Microwave it has been twomonth since I started and I’m self teaching myself. I was stressed out about strumming but one day I just got it. You need to practice at least 5 minutes a day. And bar chords also become much easier. It was on the tenth day I learned how to strum. I was such a great achievement. Keep on going you will be much better. :))
kermit fam glad to see you didn’t give up I just got a uke from my gf for my birthday and can’t wait tell I’m good at playing it
Words can't describe the amazing progress that you have made.
I just discovered your channel and even though I haven't seen all this growth first hand, i still think its so cool how far your covers have come in 2 years. I didn't really decide to truly push myself until earlier THIS YEAR!! (and ive been playing for 5 years) all in all im impressed :) you go girl!!
Hi☺ I just wanted to say that you are one of the people that inspired me to play the ukulele. I found a ukulele randomly long ago in my grandmas house (where I live because we live together) and I decided to come back to it and try it out. I ask my grandma if I could have it and she said yes. It is missing some strings so now I am looking forward to buying strings and learn to play it.
Wow I’m literally SHOOK! This is exactly why I’m subscribed!
In the beggining...
ELISE WAS ALREADY A LEGENDARY.
😍😂❤️💕 ILYSM ELISE
I am so loving your videos!!! You and your sister are so very kind to eachother, and I love that you not only show the progress you've made, but you also explain for the rest of us! Its really nice to study as someone interested in music, and ukulele technique. Thank you for posting these!
You’ve come such a long way! You’re such an inspiration! I’ve been playing off an on for about a year and a half, but you inspire me to be more consistent! Thank you for everything!
YOU ARE MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION.
Not only for playing ukulele, but for everything, that's why I love you!
Btw I'm playing uke for a month and, thanks to your tutorials that I saw even when I did't have a uke, I'm proud of what I'm able to do (even if I'm not very good yet)
I'm so excited! I'm ordering a new ukulele tomorrow! Your videos inspire me a lot Elise, thank you!💖
You are legit! I am absolutely encouraged by your progress! I just purchased my first ukulele and ready to get to it!
It's been like 7 months i've been playing ukulele, and definitely you're one of my biggest inspirations! Your videos make me wanna learn more, I love your style!!
And I'm really proud of your improvement 💕
OH DANG. So proud of you for this practice!! But also, thank you for posting this. It will hopefully be something that keeps encouraging me and reminds me to take a deep breathe whenever i start making too many mistakes in a row. I’ve only been playing for like, 2 months more or less.
I just started teaching my friend how to play ukulele and I’m so excited to see her evolution. Great work!!
OMG I’m in love with your voice, Elise!
I’m starting to play and I’m having lots of trouble switching cords fast, there’s a lot of buzz, and sometimes my fingers get stuck in the strings when strumming. I try to practice everyday and your videos have helped me so much!💕
I'm so happy to hear my videos have helped! Keep on strumming friend! You will reach your goals
If your fingers get "stuck" when you're strumming up, try relaxing your fingers and strumming naturally. I'd say 8/10 hours is what it takes to subconsciously form muscle memory for proper strumming! Keep "plucking away" at it, you'll get it in time :)
Have fun, it helps you to learn faster and concrete them skills. And you will practice more!
Playing your instrument will feel more like making sweet love, than a one night stand. What I'm trying to say is, you'll like it :)
I've been playing for a year and you've helped me improve in the past 1 year!!!#spreadthe💖
Love you Elise baiiiii😄😄💖💖!!!!
This is so cool! I have only had my uke for about 4 months but this just encouraged me to practice more! At first I really stuggled with just being able to strum and sing but it has gotten better! I cant wait to hopefully be at your level someday!
Congratulations, Elise!!! I'M SO HAPPY AND PROUD OF YOU! Love u
It’s so wonderful to see your confidence grow!! You inspire me to continue learning to play, so thank you 😘
I play since 3 months and half and my challenges are to get better at singing while playing and also trying to be good at muted strums
Amazing video, love ya
Thanks!! And keep on strumming!
I've been playing for just over 3 months, I have a lot to go, but this channel really helps me. Thanks!
I'm so happy to hear that this channel helps!! You're welcome! Keep on strumming!:)
I’ve just started learning today after discovering your channel two days ago and being seriously impressed. I picked up a random ukulele at a group the other day and it just felt right, and now I’m seriously going to learn. Thanks for the inspiration.
I haven't started yet to play Ukulele but am intrigued with it. I appreciate that you explain your experiences within the 2 years - like how long it was into it before you felt like you didn't have to look at your hand when changing cords. This help me a lot because I always tend to imagine I'm just not as good at things as other people are and the challenges I'd face I'd tend to think are harder for me than other people so the perspective is very helpful for someone like me.
Everyone: learns a song a month
Me: i cant even hold my uke correctly
Frustration :'(
I started to learn to play my first song( House of Gold by TOP) on ukulele a couple weeks ago without any instrument experience (except for a little recorder in elementary school )and I played through the entire song today and I can sing to it now which was very difficult at first, I’m really excited to play more songs and would like to thank Elise for the amazing tutorial I used to practice 😊
chubbycat 18 I first learned house of gold as well a week ago. I don’t own a ukulele. I somehow learned house of gold on my friends ukulele. Without it ever leaving her house. That’s the only song I know on the ukulele. Now I have convinced my mom to get me one. Woo hoo
jgsregrate sounds like a great Christmas gift 🎁 lol
You are the reason why I started to play uke!! I have been playing only one month and I can see the difference! Hugs from Finland😊♥️
I find this video really cool! watching people progress through something they love is amazing, and it's given me so many ideas to progress myself! I haven't thought of songs like little talks and radioactive on uke, thanks for the ideas!
My inspiration was my doctor saying music therapy helps when you get to be a age when you notice problems remembering and some other things. I told him I have no musical talent and he said anyone can learn the ukelele.
I picked up one 6 days ago I believe I'm making decent progress, if nothing else I enjoy just sitting down and strumming it. My biggest problem is I have short stubby fingers making some chords impossible to play, but I'm having a good time and I'm able to remember the chords I can play.
Whether it works with me with my forgetfulness during conversations or not time will tell. For such a young woman you are a very good at teaching. Do you teach professionally?
Your videos are very good and entertaining, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
my inspiration for music is twentyonepilots and im going to be getting a ukulele soon but i am practicing guitar right now
That's awesome!!:)

wow, you can really tell the difference from start to end. you have really inspired me. love u 💕
I started playing the ukulele around early January 2018, and today I’m proud to say I’ve improved a lot! This channel was really helpful when I was starting out, and I hope you keep up the good work because your videos really do help. 🙏🏼💗💗🌙🤗
The year after this comes the ages of kids bop.
Early ILYSM, and your a great player and the progress proves that you can’t just give up you need to keep moving. “ If you cant’t fly, you can run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. All you need too do is keep moving!” :))
I will be getting my first uke in less than a month. I am researching videos for before I pick mine up. Your channel is the one I've watched the most. Thank you!
I have recently began my journey on learning to play acoustic guitar (not ukulele related I know) and I came across your channel in the process, your videos are really good and they inspire me to learn more everyday. Thank you for the funny/epic content!
Elise:After 2 days can play a cover and change chords really good
Me:After 2 days is till tuning
Me playing one month : i can't play G chord.
Me playing two months: wtf is the strumming? How to strum?
Elise playing two days: sings and plays in one moment. And the chords are Em , G and other hard....
Edit: I am not English there are many mistakes
YES! G is so difficult right now for me
You didn't even edit your comment😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤦🏻♀️
Your videos inspred me to start playing a Ukulele. At first i was confused but also had some experiences playing the violin for over 9 years. Your videos allways made me more self confident at playing the Uke and the tutorials you make are just awsome... I jope you keep on making videos like theese ...
your videos have been so helpful to me. it’s almost been a year since ive started (however for awhile i stopped playing) and the first actual song i learned was riptide. i was struggling with strumming patterns and i watched your riptide tutorial and got it right off the bat. the past few days ive been using your tutorials and now i can play bits and pieces of songs :)
This gives me hope. I'm not gonna give up.
This is really cool! I can see the progress I could make if I stick to it!!
You just sound so chill!
I’ve been playing for almost 2 months, and I really love this video. Is great to see how far you’ve become with the ukulele :)
I am getting my ukulele, and I think i'm going to try doing this!
First, you're so pretty! I love what you did with your hair for that video❤️
Second, I also noticed that in the first months / year your struming was pretty guitar-ish and in the last year it became more uke-ish... idk😂
Thank you!!! And yes! I understand what you're saying! It was a bit of a challenge figuring out how to transition from guitar to uke:) it just took some time!
You have been my inspiration!!! I’m so excited! I get my first Uke this weekend. And I’m PUMPED.
I started uke about 5 months ago in January and I'm quite proud of my progress. Your tutorials have helped me along the way so thank you for that.
You are so amazing!!!

I've been playing my uke for almost 7 months now and it's literally one of my best choises in my life😍💖 But actually now I don't have much time to play because of school so I have a little problem with switching between chords smoothly but I'm getting better so that's ok😂🤗
i’ve been playing ukulele for 9 months and i think the most challenging thing was singing and strumming at the same time. i love your vids, keep it up♥️
I started five days ago and you’ve been the best teacher! I’m shocked you’ve only been playing for two years. Now I’m inspired to push myself once I’ve, you know, mastered actual strumming...
OH, QUEEN, *SLAY*
OMG, Getting a reply from you makes my day 😘
who is here now after 3 years of her playing?🥺❤️
I have been playing the ukulele for the past 6 months and I can play Fur elise and sweet child o mine finger picking quite comfortably and I've been experimenting with melodies too. All thanks to you , I learned a lot many songs , just by seeing your tutorials. Keep up the good work.
