I've had so many great dogs, and I have to agree with you. My doberman, Ladybug is 11 years old and the best dog I've ever known! I'm glad I got to know Malamutes, Akitas, Standard Poodles, and a few mutts that were in the mix. But my doberman is simply the best dog I've ever had. Like I said, you are correct in everything you said!
Thank you so much Sharon for the support and love! Your Dobie sounds amazing! Yes, all breeds are truly great in their own way but once you get to know a Doberman, there really isn't anything like it is there? Sometimes I feel like they should be their own species!
Ladybug is such a great name! I had 2 Dobermans. I am a crime victim. They are such good companions and I feel so safe with them. Scarlet is the best dog I have ever know. She is so smart, affectionate and a beautiful clown.
Where do you get your Doberman?? Any good recommendations on breeder??
I have had six Doberman pinchers in my lifetime. I got my first one when I was 19 years old because I thought they looked cool and menacing. I quickly found out that they are so much more than that. I am 62 years old now and cannot imagine life without a Doberman pincher by my side
🎯
Amen.
I am 21, I want a black male Doberman pinscher but first I want a good income and need a place so I can have one
@@azcardinalds2360
When that day finally comes for you you won’t be disappointed. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders because Doberman pinschers are a lot of things but they are not cheap. They are also incredibly high energy so having a good place for them to get exercise is key . He will be the most loyal, best friend you can ask for.
@@georgehermans2187 yes I hope so, I choose European if so cause sometimes American can be to lightweight for other dogs
❤ I completely agree! The Doberman is like no other dog ever and they are truly the Best of the Best. I have two Dobermans, Nico 4 - Black, and Scarlett 2 - Red and Fiery. I had a Doberman prior to these two, Cinderella (Cindee for short). She passed away just before her 9th Birthday. That morning she was fine. I went to work and later had an evening business meeting. I got home around 9. She did the Doberman lean into my leg and i just knew something was different and wrong. It was like she said mom, I waited for you….and I’m not doing well. We raced to the Vet and she passed away in my arms on the way. That wonderful, amazing girl had waited until I got home from my meeting to pass away. A flood of emotions. She was my heart.
We are blessed to belong to Dobermans. ❤
9 years old seems so young. Did you find out the cause?
No. I talked with the breeder though and she said that every year past 9 is a blessing.
My Cindee wasn’t sick at all. That morning she was running around playing like normal. She hadn’t eaten anything she shouldn’t have. She wasn’t hurt in any way. I didn’t have an autopsy done.
As a biased, lifelong Doberman mom, I completely agree! There’s no other breed that comes close!
🐾❤️🐾
Great to hear that you feel the same way, Lori!
They just have so much more personality than most other breeds. It can be challenging at times but mostly deeply rewarding.
I agree. Other breeds’ personalities seem so bland’
Nothing better then a Dobie !
Can not say that enough
And John is right very different then other breeds none more loyal .
At one time we lived in a rural area kinda scary but we slept good knowing he was there and protect us to the end !
Get and love a doberman they will love u back 10 fold
They do have a lot of personality! One of the most fun things about them is seeing their facial reactions in different situations!
@@DobermanPlanet arent doberman a one person dog vs like a rottweiler that have a family pack mentality? Doberman usually has a alpha mentality.
What things do you find challenging about Doberman?
You hit the nail on the head. Having had many dobes over the years, no one will mess with a doberman, mine were all friendly once you got to know them but all were very wary at the onset. Which is a good thing, if i wanted a playful dog I'd get a lab or golden. People used to cross the street when I'd walk one on a leash. If one was in my car they didn't go near it. Which is why you have that dog. As far as I'm concerned dobes are the best personal protection dogs around and they aren't these giant dogs that drool on everything in sight that will drag you down the street or eat you out of house and home.
One of the reasons I personally want a Doberman. My neighbor has one, and is ALWAYS off leash, never leaves his open yard, always alert, and waits for the twin girls to arrive off the bus. I had grown up with a GSD, she was sweet and loving, loved everybody, but when another dog was showing signs of aggression, she would flip a switch and scare off that dog or their owners by her appearance. Now that I’m nearly an adult, and will be being more independent in public, a Doberman is absolutely on my list. The training, protection, and their ability to read human emotions is something I look for in a dog. Plus, they aren’t as hairy as a GSD lol.
You want to see an intimidating dog. Look at a 145 pound cane corso with his 700 pound bite force barking at you. You will think your little Doberman is a puppy
Yes, love the last three points you made. Those are "little" things that people often don't think about when getting a dog, but they are details that make a big difference!
My dobie was behind a fence and the neighbor wouldn't even get out of his truck to drop off some mail that was mistakenly delivered to him. "This is yours, I'm not going to come any closer!"
Me: lol "I understand. Thanks for dropping that off!" 😅
I got a 4 1/2 year old brown/tan girl in January and she is already fully trained. She is sweet and gentle but will protect me. People stop their cars while they are driving down the street to tell me she is beautiful. And fast is an understatement.
I have to agree! I'm a little biased, as an owner of 2 of these amazing creatures. Diesel 6 y/o black and rust, Molly 2 y/o red and rust.
Diesel and Molly are perfect for you, Dennis!
Having a little trouble with reactivity with Molly, but slowly improving
Mine was the greatest athlete I ever saw. Always had my back. He never allowed any bad behavior from any dog or person. But he was friendly with everyone. He knew he was the King. He also weighed 110 pounds and was clocked at 40 MPH on multiple radar guns. God bless his soul. I will miss him every day.
Agreed. They are the consummate diplomat. Trustworthy around other animals, babies and all humans; but if one has ill-intent, the Doberman WILL pick up on it immediately and pre-empt or intervene as necessary, generally without requiring a "flash-bang" (or worse) technique, although very capable of one if needed. They are very intimidating when necessary, but wholly judicious in unpredictable security and protection situations and will put the potential threat immediately "on notice". It is completely understandable why they were enlisted during WWII. My best friend was often called upon in small breed training classes to assist these dogs in getting comfortable with "the big, bad world" and socializing them. He was an amazing specimen. I could go on and on but I know I am preaching to the converted. ;0)
As the proud owner of a 10 month old female Dobie, I agree with everything on this list. But with one BIG asterisk.
They are the summit of dog perfection...IF you are willing to put in the work of proper training AND you have the patience to go through the DoberShark puppy phase...that for us has been lasting 7 months now. It will be worth it though!
Yes they love to bite hahah mine just turned a year it was a process
The Dober-shark-puppy phase is difficult, but so worth it once you come out on the other side!
if you get through it without having your sheet rock eaten, you're either lucky or someone is home all the time. I love my guy! They grow out of it by year two.
I have bad news for you - they go through a slightly aggressive/ I'm not-listening-to-you phase around 22 months. Mine's just coming out the other side of this and it's been difficult! Not that I'd change him for all the money in the world :-)
I am really glad you said this. These dogs are not for the faint of heart. I am not a professional dog trainer, but the amount of time and effort I have put into HiJinks Henry is probably 6x my vizsla (and they consider that breed high maintenance-lol). Apparently, I was the only person not aware of this because when I discuss him with others, people laugh at me and concur.
Had Dobermans literally since I was born. A Dobe was waiting when I came home from being born,. Mom was able to put me on a blanket and tell Major to 'watch the baby's and if I got a hand on the edge of the blanket he would pick me up by the diaper and put me back in the middle of the blanket. Poor thing, I hope they were clean diapers.
Omg!! Loved this, laughed out loud..what a great dog!
Haha what a responsible Doberman - taking the job very seriously!
I have a border collie and a doberman, my border collie can open the fridge , deliver a beer and go back to close the fridge, but there is nothing that beats my doberman. I sleep like a baby at night because of my doberman, she is everything you said and more. And personality plus, she gives 200%. They are both fantastic dogs but the doberman always has my back. The border collie is a true sweetheart but she can be bought with a ball or frisbee.
1000% truth in every way! My doberman knows the plan before I do more often then not. He is like a third child honestly. Great video thank you for helping spread the word about how incredible these dogs are.
That's great to hear, Evan! So glad this video resonated with you!
Our first Doberman was a God sent perfect specimen of a Doberman looks, attitude and so in tune . I will never forget me and my daughter were at a park got to the end of a winding stairway of a tower when I made the final turn there was a young man there he startled me and I said wow because I was surprised, she was going crazy I thought she was going to tear him to pieces, I calmed her down and apologized and explained he did nothing wrong she was just protective because I was startled he was nice and understanding. Also every time we let her out in our yard she would run the whole perimeter as if doing a security check, and we live on an acre. What an amazing dog and she was so loving. We miss her so much. But we now have 2 more and they are good also just not as amazing.🙏
Love my Doberman, love my other breeds, different personalities, different reasons. Dogs are the best no matter which breed ❤️
No doubt every breed has something different to offer...just a bit biased over here. Lol. What's important is that you feel connected and in-tune with your dog and take care of him or her well.
I have my first doberman, he is 4.5 months old, he drives me and my family crazy, but we all love's him so much! He is absolutely special and wonderful!
Love this video!! Dobermans are the best!! We have owned only Dobermans for the past 22 years, and we currently have three in our family. Two were rehomes and one we have had since a pup. We love our Dobermans!!!
Me, too (only Doberman living with me since 1993!): they are awesome!
That's great to read, Joan! Keep up the great work rehoming them. No doubt they each have a special place in your heart!
Everyday our Tyson amazes us. At 7 months, he is so smart...sometimes too smart. We've never had a dog so in tuned to everything we do. It was so much fun this morning when he went outside and experienced his first snow here in Northeast Ohio...He didn't know what to do. 🤣
We are in northeast Ohio as well! Our boy turned 4 months old today! He's going to hate the snow!!!! He wouldn't go outside yesterday lol
Tyson's first snow sounds like so much fun, Dione!
NE Ohio here as well. My Doberman is 3 months old and a pistol lol
@@VchaosTheoryV somehow we lucked out with our boy, he is so calm and sweet to any human. His brother however...who has a few screws lose is a different story hahaha! The Dobie still won't go out in the snow unless you leash him and make him, my shepherd will live out there tho!
@@ryanmolnar6783 I know the feeling all too well! i kind of kick myself for getting a pup like a Doby in this weather because she hates the cold as well lol
Truth! I think my girl is literally reading my soul as she looks through my eyes....LOL.
Dude I just got my first Doberman and have had her about three weeks. She is 14 weeks old now and everything you said is 100 percent correct.. She learned how to sit with a new owner in just two days.. Crate training??? Never had too she preferred it right from the start! All the traits you are talking about, she has and I find it so awesome how they can read you even at such a young age. I had a Jack Russel before and he was really smart but he would really only listen to me! My Doberman well she actually obeys commands from even my 7 and 8 year old boys.. Not gonna lie I been watching the crap out of your videos as I am a first time owner and I am really trying to learn as much as I can about this bread. Your videos are part of my success so far with my dog. THANKS!
My dog was half doberman half German shepherd.he looked exactly like a doberman. He has been the best dog I've ever known.l lost him last week and I'm devastated, he was my soul mate and best friend.i will miss him forever.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Our fur babies take a piece of our heart when they leave. Peace and love to you. 💔❤
@@victorialove9104 thank you Victoria, your reply meant a lot, bless you.x
I’ve been binge watching all your videos for the past three days trying to learn as much as I can about Dobermans. I’m 100% positive they are the breed I want. Thank you for all your content and information on this breed.
Let us know how your journey goes.
From buying the puppy to training it.
Once you have one you will never want to be without one.
You are SO SPOT ON. We have had many dog breeds over the years, and at one time, we had six Dobermans. And it's true: there is no other breed to compare. Their loyalty, their willingness no please, their drive to protect, their Einstein-like intelligence, and their uncanny ability to read our thoughts and moods. To me, they are The Ultimate Dog Breed.
They are the best breed of all dogs in my opinion...I've had 4 and all 4 were so smart. I had 2 Dobermans at the same time once, a female and a male. They were so smart. When it came to feeding time, I would have them "sit" at their food bowl side-by-side. I would tell them to "wait", and I would bless their food while they sat and drooled. After my blessing was over, I would say Amen. Then I would say "ok" and that was their command it was ok to eat. Great dogs they are!
My 2 1/2 year old European Doberman is everything you said and more! Zelcro by my side without fail. Wicked smart. Strong. Beautiful. Tender. Playful. I could go on and on. When I come in the door (even if I'm gone for 10 minutes!), she's SO excited to see me. She jumps around, excited, and then wants love. When I came in the door after major shoulder surgery, she went totally still. Instantly, somehow, she knew I was hurt. She adapted within seconds gently coming up and trying to lick my shoulder so very softly. Amazing. I've had my arm in a sling for 6 weeks, and she's never come close to pawing it, or bumping it even we play. And I could write a novel about how affectionate she is. 90lbs of love. Life is richer with her.
The intuition / telepathy was absolutely spot on lol! Mine does exactly that, often just stares at me for minutes (I make a game and try not react), but I can see him searching for something in my thoughts and eyes, and he does just seem to know things.
The training and intelligence though - this is a double edged sword; they're so clever they know what you want but can choose to mug you off anyway!
There is no better loyalty and love than that of a Doberman. I'm on my third one, and will not even consider another breed in my house.
Your opinion is absolutely right! Had so many different breeds. I will always some sort of other breed too. But I will never be without at least one dobe.
It's great to hear from your experience of owning different breeds, Starla! Dobermans do great with many other different types of dog breeds, so it's good you expose yours to others.
My daughter has a Doberman. I was amazed when I came in contact with this breed, for this first time in my life. I relate to everything you mentioned, I was amazed how much they focus on their owners, and want to please, on top of that she's an amazing deep red brown color, every time I take her for a walk people love her, and want her, or a dog like her, and always ask us where they can get one.
My girl is in heat and boy is she needy. She is always alert. She did off leash for the first time last weekend and did wonderful. Velcro dog for sure.
My Doberman is exactly as you described on and off leash. She is a dream dog. I would say this is the best dog ever.
Wow! Very impressive. You must have done some great work with training along the way!
About 30 years ago I bought a Doberman pup from a lady selling Doberman pups on the side of the road. The lady was asking $150 each but there was a runt of the litter of seven. I bought the runt for $50. The lady asked for my phone number because she wanted to keep track of her litter. Approximately one year later the lady called and when she found out that my runt turned out to be the largest of the litter at 93 pounds, she was shocked. She may have been shocked but I was blessed to have one of the smartest, most loyal dog I have ever owned. We named him Rusty and you can probably guess why. Not only was I blessed to have the greatest dog ever but he lived to be 16 years old. Keep up the good work.
You are so right with everything you said. I've done doberman rescue for a couple decades now. I would never consider having another breed. I love Dobermans so much and they are just the best
Completely agree. We are 1000% in love with our Dobie. She is the 3rd child. First Dobie for us and Best dog I've ever had. ❤️
Dude, I started considering one when I discovered your channel but this video just sold me on getting a doberman!!!!😮........ excellent video!👍🏾
That's great to hear! They are pretty great -- you won't be disappointed!
👍🏼 I was on the fence about getting a dobie but after this …….
It reminded me on why it was number one in the que ….
Thanks again👍🏼
Many years ago my partner was walking our doberman and our other dog. They were attacked by a neighbours husky. Our dobe, uncommanded, untrained defended my partner and our other dog, driving the husky off multiple times - not getting into a fight or chasing the husky but driving it off then returning to my partner's side each time. It's just built in to a doberman. I still miss her.
Wow, what a rollercoaster!
I had been watching your videos extensively and repeatedly since around 2 years ago when I was starting to prep myself heavily for my doberman. Man, was that a journey. When I brought her in I incorporated everything learnt from you mainly also others, and implemented at my best. During the period of past ~1.5 years that she’s with me I have not been watching much of your (or any others’ content). Now after such a long period I came across this video and COULD NOT EVER AGREE MORE ON ALL THE POINTS MENTIONED. She’s incredible, a total blessing (also a huge work, but it pays off so immensely). Back then knowing that they look into your eyes scanning, how clingy they are, how protective and how great they are all together sounded like a fairy tale. Do I feel all these and more now. This experience has been life-changing, and I cannot thank you more, John, for being there for me (though virtually, but still very much there).
Cannot thank you enough for debunking so much none-sense around the breed, for advocating so fairly and transparently, for educating.
Watching this video today made me really emotional 🤍🤍🤍
Just got my third doberman puppy. Wish Doberman World was around for the first two! Thankful for the great support here Doberman Planet. I think it's such great PR for the breed too.
Hey John, I have a Doberman, a black lab, and a boxer. Each one of them has pros and cons. I would say that the Dobbie definitely is more obedient and stoic than the other two combined. The Dobbie is also completely attached to me, so I am with you 100% that these dogs are exceptional bodyguards
Just one dog, he passed away at 14, he was a German Shepherd Wolfdog mix. We lived out, which is the only place you can have this type of dog, and three times ( twice with humans, once with a pack of dogs) did this beautiful noble animal turn into something that sent all three threats running, but kinda scared me a bit as well. That pack threat had 2 dobermans and some pit mixes about 7 dogs in total, they didnt see me with my wolf dog and ran forward for an all out attack on my 17 year old daughter who had crossed the street to get the mail. My dog leaped up into the air all fangs and unholy growels and the entire pack went running in the opposite direction. Most wolfdogs may or may not be like that, I actually adopted him as a rescue, but he morphed into a very frightenin creature. Twice, after a walk, when we were headed up the steps he swooped in between the steps returning with a very dead possum. It was so fast I couldnt, didnt even see how, it just was. He passed away at age 14, and my heart is still broken. Definitely not all wolfdogs but this one was better.
I thought that I would add that I had my wolfdog on a harness with a horse lead rope, he was never off leash, and he weighed about a hundred pounds. The other incidents were with male karens. I didnt get him for protection, my mom had died, I was back from Iraq and wanted a friend so I looked through the spca. Did not find out about the wolf part until I was paying the fee.
All other breeds seem mournful compared to a Dobie. Simply, majestic in all departments, period.
John, this video is 💯 on point! Dobermans are so intuitive, this breed is magical. I wish I knew years ago how amazing this breed is. My Dobie Stella is my ❤❤❤
Please give Stella hugs from a fellow Dobe person!!
So glad you agree! Give Stella a treat from us!
My goodness, you must really really live this breed, can see it in your eyes and soul ❤❤ i hope to get a doberman one day, really
Right on! I am 65 years old and am on to my 8th doberman. Have had them for 47 years. They are the ultimate dog. However I would say that they are a handful to own and are not a "beginners" dog.
Just got a blue Doberman and everyone is shocked at how smart and protective he is
Loved this video! And I love my Doberman! Thanks so much John. I broke my leg when she five months old and I couldn’t do anything for three months with my beautiful puppy! Broke my heart. My husband did his best but he’s not a dog trainer. Now she’s eight months old and she’s definitely coming along. It’s only been about three weeks that I’ve been able to follow again your advice and training tips and she’s really improving. I’m still having a bit of a problem with the heeling especially when she sees another dog. She wants to go play. She learns very fast so I’m hoping she’ll get the heeling thing soon. The reason we got a Doberman is because we travel to Mexico every winter so we wanted a dog that would definitely protect us if something awful happened. Thanks John keep doing what you’re doing. They really are an amazing breed. 😘
I took my doberman after the park today off-leash ,played chuckit, she got the meet several other dogs. First time in over a year I was impressed
Hi John, you are absolutely correct, there's no other dog breed like them. My wife and I have had 13 . They are amazing!!! We love your channel!!! God Bless You Mark and Somya
I have had an American and a European Doberman Pincher. Both were awesome. Yesterday we looked at puppies at the Humane Society and there were a few nice Lab mixes. I am worried if I get a rescue that I will often think about the Doberman I could have had instead. It may not be fair to the rescue puppy if I am not 'all in'. With inflation and the stock market in shambles, I am hesitant to spend four thousand dollars for a puppy. Maybe I just will go another year without a dog. Life without a Doberman seems a bit empty to me.
There are some amazing doberman rescue centers across the country 😀
There are so many poor dobermans looking for homes in shelters. Blows my mind. They are young and beautiful.
If you are serious about wanting to get a Doberman from a shelter, check out the last two websites in this article: www.dobermanplanet.com/best-places-to-find-doberman-puppies-for-sale/. Petfinder.com and Adoptapet.com are two great resources for shelter dogs. You can search by breed within your area radius. This resource will help! You can also Google "Doberman Rescue near _____ (your town)" and drive there to rescue one!
Awesome! The first time I experienced a Doberman ("Amos"), I was amazed at his muscularity - the entire body is like one huge muscle that flexes in a single movement throughout his entire body. Nothing like this breed.
I love your channel and I'm so excited to get my baby dobie in some weeks ahead, I know it will be challenging but I'm ready and your videos on training are very informative! Keep it up!
I just brought home my 2nd Doberman and I’m in love with the little monster already 😂
I loved all of my Dobbies
Have had Dobbies from a young girl, now I’m 70 got another beautiful Dobbie
Fiona is 8 months now super smart, never leaves my side . Love her very much.
Honest and well said, I couldn’t have said it any better myself. I completely agree with you, and unless you’ve had a Doberman or two or more, most people cannot understand this!
This is so true , just completed a year with my Higgins an let me tell you she has me amazed every day .
Just got my beautiful 3 month old blue dobie a week and a half ago and I’m already obsessed with the breed. First Doberman I’ve ever had and I’m impressed with how quick she’s learning.
I got my first Doberman at the end of August after a long time of researching the breed, including watching this channel. They're amazing. Challenging durring this adolescent stage but she's amazing.
Hey I’ve had Dobermans since 1973. Always had a Dobie or two. The best breed in the world. Loyal, smart I could go on forever. It is an experience like none other!!!
I miss my Dobermans. I've had 5 over the years, but after my last 2 passed from DCM I switched gears to a bulldog lol. I never thought I'd find a dog as loyal as my Dobies, but my bulldog is! He is as velcro as my Dobermans were. HOWEVER, he is goofy and a beer short of a six-pack compared to the Dobes! He certainly isn't a protector like my Dobes were, but my .45 will serve that purpose. Dogs are great.
We have now our 3rd Doberman - all rescued dogs with different personalities but the best breed for sure!
Doberman,best dog ever!👏👏👏👏👏👏❤🐾🐾
Totally agree, SIlvia!
Dobermans are the ultimate canine to own. They are totally devoted and read emotions better than some human beings. Great video thanks
Very personal Doberman Fan video...full respect for Doberman Dogs they are an awesome breed. But under no circumstance would ever consider over my Malinois...what some call Super Dog and what I call my Super Love.
I am 100 % agree with you. I used to have one. Still missing my lovely YONKA.
They definitely spoil you for other breeds! But you have to respect and love them enough to know when your situation isn't right for one in your family, like mine now. Great memories, and get to appreciate them here, thanks!!! ❤️🙏💞
I just got my first doberman a few weeks ago, and I can already see a lot of this
U nailed it ! We have had the pleasure 2 have 10 dobies all rescues except one we got as a pup .rescues take a little time and patience but once they bond there yours .we r blessed 2 have have had them . We have red girl we got from craigslist she is a Akc girl and is our love and such a lover and loyal. Thank u 4 your work
I sure would like to hear more about your rescue experiences, maybe Doberman Planet could interview you and others who did rescues so we could learn from that. I would love to get a Doberman as my next dog but as an older person who has had many dogs (and even bred a litter of Collies) the time has come to rescue dogs who needs a home rather than buy one though that can be iffy with certain breeds.
JOHN..GREAT IDEA.
Do a video w multiple rescuers about their experiences & problems.
When u get a rescue they need time patience and love ! Lots of former owners have mistreated or not understood a doberman . Our 1st rescue I thought it could leave him outside wrong they r home bodies mostly people persons want to be with there people . Dobies have enriched our lives soo much . But will say there has 2 be a alpha or they can want 2 rule . Please think about getting one I am 65 so older is not a issue they are so loyal and loving.!⁹
Would like 2 send a video of our girl April she was named by former owner . Loves belly rubs and a funny girl !
I get it about being the alpha, have had a number of stallions who live life thinking “who’s the boss, you or me?” Lol.. of course I may be getting too old for that. The young Pitbull we have right now is a dream so far and doesn’t challenge. I gave an alpha smooth collie who has tried and gets put in his place but they are a soft mouth breed so that is always something to think about and weigh the pros and cons as we age.
Perhaps ANOTHER VIDEO IDEA on seniors and getting Doberman’s??? 🤣🤣🤣 if we keep going we might come up with a series lol
Dobermans are just so connected with there owners..and smart as can be!
John you are spot on! love the dobie. We just lost our second one but, trying to move forward. My wife and I are lookkng forward to our next one.
As a Doberman partner, I can't claim to own Koa, I agree with all the points you made. I would like to add that Koa understands everyone he comes into contact with. He normally ignores new people unless I introduce him, however if he shows distrust of anyone I become wary. He reads scent and body language perfectly. When he comes up to me and starts sniffing my ear I know that something I'm doing is confusing him. I'm 78 and have shared this life with a lot of dogs, one in Alaska was quarter wolf and one in New Mexico was half coyote. There have been none that formed the bond that we have with Koa. Thanks for all the help you gave us raising this wonderful partner. Your videos have been invaluable. When we got together with him he was less than seven weeks old, a sickly skin and bones 3.8 pounds. Today he is 16 months old, weighs 90 pounds, and is the happiest dog I have ever had the privilege of sharing the joy of life with.
I love my doberman- she is nearly two and so adorable. So smart and loyal - Learns new tricks so quickly and easily! Very friendly dog - great with other dogs and all types of people. Great at guarding our house - let's everyone know - this is my place 😉👍🏼👍🏼
It’s makings sense because they we breed to work with people! Very in-tune with you!
Your channel had already convinced me and my wife that this is the dog for us but this video just added to the confidence that we’re gonna make the right choice thank you!
Well 11 days ago i had put my pit down she was with me 10 years. I could not be without a dog so i went to the shelter and got a 4 month doberman poppy❤ male iam amazed i have no words i mean before the pit we had two german sherbert and me now with 37 owning this poppey a week long have to say i can see the end result this breed is unbelievable and everything mentioned in the videos is 100% accurate iam glad i found this channel
I love my Doberman, but because he was an abandoned dog, it took a couple of years for me to get him to be truly bonded to me. It was a long process fraught with some significant problems. He's very loyal now, but it was something of a battle. I worry, though, about the fact that Doberman's have such a great predisposition to developing DCM.
Congratulations on sticking with him, firstly.
Secondly have you looked into dietary requirements for dogs (I'm sure you have). EPA and DHA are supposedly good for reducing heart disease - mine is raw fed so we manage his diet as we see fit and can control pretty much everything nutrient-wise for him.
@@OpinionatedMonk I was just doing a little research regarding diet and DCM, and it seems that there is a connection between the amino acid taurine and DCM. Deficiency of this amino acid seems to be connected. Another possible connection, strangely, may be the feeding of grain-free foods. There seems to be an increase in cases with dogs fed grain-free food. I found this interesting. The studies on this are not complete.
You can get them genetically tested for it so you know if the are at risk. This channel did a video on it, when Arlo was a pup.
@@jeffkramer3029 I'm aware of that test. I don't know what good it is, since it can't heal the condition. If I found out he was not predisposed to it, that would be good, but if I found the opposite, it would make things worse for me.
@@dooglitas It still may be a good idea so you can help take preventative measures to not make the condition worse should the dog develop it. You may even get an extra year or two longer
I love it!!! You are soooo right, thank you and God bless!
I will get my 3rd Doberman in 3 weeks. Our family is beyond excited!!!!
I’ve owned 2 Dobermans and 2 German Shepherds. Both have excellent qualities. Both breeds were owner focused. Doberman rules for one big reason. They are less likely to challenge the rules. Example: someone left the backyard gate was wide open all night. Next morning guess who didn’t leave on an adventure? Even though the two were best friends and equally trained, the Doberman stayed with that all night temptation to take a hike. ❤
I totally agree!! ❤️ This is why I had Dobermans all my life! 👍💯💯 I've got so many experiences with this breed that can speak strongly! ❤️ 🤗
My Dobie is very in tune with me and I agree with you, they are super smart
our Dobie has a sense of humour he doesn't return when I call his name but if I shout CUDDLES he returns immediately, which is a bit embarrassing if we are on the beach with loads of people
This is very true, my doberman focuses on my every move and command. He also continues to look to me for guidance with the eye contact. When we're entering the house, he always pauses to let me go ahead of him. I was able to teach him to rollover, get between my legs, fetch etc very
I've only ever had German Shepherds so I'll have to report back. I plan on getting a Doberman next year.
Yes!! They will not only look at you but look right thru your soul!!
Parabéns pelo canal! Realmente os Dobermann's são incríveis! 👏👏👏
Love this!!’ We just got our European Doberman. 9 wks old. We already see many of these traits.
I totally agree with everything you said in this video John. Great content as always
I do believe you John. My girl is a Dobey mix and she is the smartest dog I've ever seen. She
has to be able to see me no matter what I'm doing.
Absolutely correct. They are and will always be my favorite and preferred breed. Have had many in my time. Thanks for point of view.
💯
Totally agree!!! These dogs are amazing and loyal! We love them so much!!
Yeah...spot on!!! Raised with doberman's since I was a kid and you are exactly right!!! For me, doberman dogs are the most beautiful, loyal, obedient, protective, loving, dogs!!! I absolutely love them and I am very grateful for your channel!!! Thanks and you are awesome!!!
This video made me so happy me and my Dobbie both. And my cat.
My Ziva is the best dog on the planet. She rescued me from doberman rescue of the Triad in North Carolina. She's my third Doberman love the breed
They really are the best...its not even really close....they are a high protective lap dog...its like having a person in the house.
You nailed it sir!
Sadly mine died in my arms about 6 months ago. There’s still a Massive hole in my life where he used to be. Thinking early next year of getting two males so they have company for each other while I’m at work but would like to hear your thoughts on it mate. You’ve been kind enough to reply to my comments many times over the last few years and I would just like to thank you again for all the invaluable information you e given me on this channel 👍👍👍
I’d have to agree with your key points. In my 64 years I’ve always had dogs except while I was in college. Strength, agility, loyalty, and intelligence all top the charts.
1000x spot on. My Doberman knows everything. He self taught himself that if my phone gets locked I’m getting up or doing something. He is doing exceptional at learn tasks as he’s being trained to be my service dog and just all in all pure amazing. From until the end I will forever have a Doberman
