Funny how so much of life comes back around to everything you learn as a child. Be nice to everyone. Get along. Be a team player. Work hard. 😁
1. Be friendly and get along with people
2. What your colleagues in your program say about you
Mike KS thanks
6:02 no none cares about what you got in organic chemistry 🤣🤣
Lol “loved” orgo so much, I took it 3 times LOL (it’s a joke of course... I got a F D then C)... but God is good and I was given a second chance at the med school journey and I just took step 1 on Friday :)
Love it, great advice
Thank you for this❤️
Great Video!
Great video.. I noticed that as well with our hiring practices at the hospital.. You may have all these credentials but can you mesh well with the team, and are u a good person to get along with other coworkers. Etc... Great video...
Hey Dr I was impressed with your's
Thinking . God bless you and have
a happy life with your family.👨👩👧
Love this
Could you do a video about vascular surgery - A Day In The Life?
I love ur videos bro
What steps can I️ take to gain research experience if I️ have none upon entering ms1? I’d appreciate the advice. Thanks!
I am currently a junior in college and I have to retake organic chemistry this spring. I have been watching your channel for a while now. Definitely nice to know that this won't matter after I get through these Chem classes and the MCAT.
This is for fellowships not med school.
Ecle ctic yes it’s mainly for fellowship, however CK can still apply the information in this video to med school. I am not sure if you paid attention in the video. Be nice/gets along with people.
@@Lukether Yes, soft skills are always important. I jumped the gun in my previous response.
Great!
Hey Dr.Webb! Great video as always. I’m going to start my first year of college soon. I want to do medicine but I am scared based on some of the things I’ve heard that I won’t be able to focus on my life outside of the hospital, like forming and family, because medicine is so time consuming. Any tips or thoughts?
You should do a video reacting to the announcement that USMLE Step 1 Exam will be Pass/Fail beginning 2022. Also if you have any insight or if you could contact current higher ups of orthopedic surgery residencies and ask how they will now determine who to accept into their residency programs now that they will not be able to use a high Step 1 score as a heavy criteria. I would love any advice what I can do to make myself stand out to residency programs where Step 1 scores aren’t a factor because this change will take place with my class being the first to go through it
Hey Dr. Webb, I am a foreign medical graduate currently applying to residency in the United States. It has always been my dream to train in the States. I have always been extremely passionate about Orthopedics and especially Sports Medicine. However, due to the competitive nature of Orthopedic residency international graduates find it close to impossible to match into it. As an alternative, I would like to do a fellowship in Sports Medicine post IM/EMD residency. Could you provide an insight into this subspecialty and maybe even do an interview with a Sports Medicine Physician you know? Thanks and keep up the great work.
contact him via email
Hi Dr. Webb, I have 14 years of spine surgery experience in China, but for now I have not taken the USMLE exam yet . Can I apply for the fellowship program?
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dr. Webb, I would love to hear your thoughts on affirmative action and the impact on the black community. Maybe even your wife can offer her thoughts. I recently viewed a video and that was the topic. It definitely has me thinking about some things. I am half Hispanic and half white, so it is an interesting topic.
Affirmative action certainly makes grades matter less lol
Negatively affect Asian candidates to top tier schools.
@daniel boom That may be in some cases true, but it is unambiguously true that a black person doesn't need to work nearly as hard or succeed to the extent that a white man would to have the same result. I have two friends that illustrate this well: both of them have a 3.6 GPA and a 520 MCAT. The white one has an insanely good application, my black friend has a much more modest and "cookie cutter" application. White guy got into a state school, black guy has multiple Ivy acceptances. Yes, a black person has to perform and succeed to get into med school (or residency for that matter) but whites, asians, and men need better numbers and experiences to be on the same playing field.
4th comment love your channel btw
Hi doc, I have a doubt. Does our MCAT score affect our USMLE journey or is necessary that you need to get 40% percentile in MCAT to apply for USMLE?

Hello! I'm doing my MBBS 3rd year in India. Can you please elaborate on the opportunities for img in US?
Dr Webb just repeated what I’ve Been saying all these years
Thanks!!
Well yeah...those don't matter when you're black as long as you pass...
Unfortunately, in many schools, you are correct.
You do realize you need the grades to get in and pass in the first place 🙄.
They do matter, stop manipulating people’s emotions, if they don’t matter you wont be where you are.
He means in addition to those obviously. You can’t get in the door with just your attitude but if your attitude isn’t a fit there are always people with your score and a better attitude 🤷🏾♂️
do you understand nuance? i think not
this is for fellowship not residency or medical school
An Entity For fellowship!!! Watch the video again 😒
