    It is that time again my friends. We are watching everything rapidly evolve as we begin ticking off everything needed for Starship Flight Test 5 and as you would expect, it has been absolutely action packed. SpaceX Finally Unveils New Starship Flight Views, and Upgrades Explained in here around the new flame trench and potential 35 engine booster. We have Falcon 9 action, and also movement from Blue Origin. Even Firefly were back kicking one off late in the day, and what on Earth happened here? Indeed, some bizarre scenes, but also holdups and setbacks. One thing's for sure, a week in space is never boring!

    If SpaceX is going to move to "routine" launches, say even one a week, the propellant delivery to the launch site needs a major upgrade. Ideally a pipeline or at least a rail line could deliver the volume required. The road network and trucking resources are a massive bottleneck.

    9:10 speaking of the drone shot of Starship launching... The next time, instead of being a static drone shot, they need to have that drone fly upwards trying to keep pace with the rocket as it launches. Try to stay above the rocket for as long as possible until the speed of the rocket overtakes the drone's capability. That would be epic!

      You wouldn't even notice a difference between the two videos. By the time starship reaches the altitude that the drone is at, it's already flying faster than the max vertical speed of the drone. It's like mounting a camera at a drag strip vs handing a kid the camera and telling him to run with it as soon as the cars launch, they'd both look identical.

      I mean... that's assuming Starship is capable of returning that much mass. Lifting that much mass? Sure. Obviously. But returning that much mass????? Maybe not. I'm not sure Starship was designed to return *any* substantial mass beyond the weight of the ship.

      @@robnobert It'll depend on fuel mass for fore-aft balance during sky-dive, and having enough of the fuel pressurizing the tank section for rigidity.

    I would like to see "Marcus House" provide an episode on the Starbase engineering and construction personnel. Sort of a "day-in-the-life" of a SpaceX employee. The complexity and speed of planning and construction is first-class and there has to be a lot of talent being hired from all over the world!

      Elon keeps saying the best part is no part. So they did their engineering sums and decided to fix them in a permanent 'out' position.
      They don't seem to have changed that for the Falcon9 boosters, but that may be because they would have to do a whole lot of test flights to keep their ?certification? perhaps?

    • @GntlTch
      @GntlTch Před 4 dny +1

      @@David-yo5ws IIRC, it was a trade off between a slight increase in drag vs a large decrease in weight and complexity. The Falcon 9 is well into its "design frozen, we've got better things to do" stage .
