Grima is the GOAT. Gleb and Max Sysoev are brothers and the geniuses behind Grima, Second to Sun, and Ultar.
Gleb’s vocals are absolutely incredible, he’s probably my favorite black metal vocalist. Seriously listen to them, please. Tales of the Enchanted Woods, Will of the Primordial, and Rotting Garden are all phenomenal albums. Frostbitten isn't quite as strong, but still has a couple really good tracks.

Great video! I'm genuinely surprised Forteresse didn't even make the honorable mentions list. They're easily in my top 5 of all time list. Also Kaevum not being there is surprising as Natur is one of the greatest BM albums of all time. Probably my top two BM albums are Metal Noir Quebecois from Forteresse and Natur from Kaevum. Both released after 2000.

Decent list, glad to see Spectral Wound here. I need to add three (?) more bands though: Misþyrming, especially their album Algleymi is nonstop brilliance, Harakiri for the Sky in general, (I love all their stuff) and Saor as well. Also, even if it's more experimental and changes style from album to album, but I have to mention Thy Catafalque, because it's my all time favourite and it's from my country. Grima is not the LOTR reference. I've been at their show and asked one of the founding members about the name, he said it's their original idea and it's just a coincidence, but they respect LOTR. Seems like they didn't even know about Grima Wormtongue existing when they came up with that name.

Great list, but I think that "Sworn" from Norway would deserve a place in the ranking. Their recent albums are great, the last one "A Journey told through fire" is a blast.☺ Oh, and I would replace "Der Weg einer Freiheit" with "Imperium Dekadenz" because the latter creates one of the best melancholic, somber atmosphere of the whole scene. Their album "Dis Manibus" is hard to forget...

Havukruunu I actually found out about through your channel, I think after something like 3 -4 skit videos Havukruunu started showing up in recommendations.
Nocturnal Depression in the honourable mentions I can see because that is definitely an acquired taste you have to already be down the rabbit hole for that one.
20 minute long songs & of course Intermezzo from the Soundtrack for a Suicide:Opus II with the Columbine 9.1.1 call…chefs kiss as the kids say.
With Lifelover they broke up out of respect for the member who passed away I can relate back in college the band I was in back then we lost our drummer & our friend to suicide & it just felt weird playing those songs without him. So we all agreed to end that band.

A very small band I discovered on a local festival about a year and a half ago is "Daemonesq" (the 'ae' sometimes is the danish version but I don't know how to type that on a German Keyboard and the website and the youtube channel e.g. are just written with a normal 'ae'). They're a female-fronted Black Metal band (don't judge them on that yet, give it a try, Raeginas voice is pretty dope and not what u might expect thinking of female-fronted metal) founded in 2020 and have only released a first EP called "The beauty of letting go" yet. However, they did have some live experiences at e.g. "In Flammen", "Metal Frenzy" and "Rage Against Racism" and some recordings of these gigs do exist here on youtube. They had been on Spotify for quite some time but seem to have either quit that or intentionally made their way off of Spotify. However, all of their songs can be found on CZcams or bought on their website / bandcamp both as files or on CD.
Edit: I just realised that their last acitivity was over a year ago, so I don't know if they decided to quit or are just inactive for a while. Couldn't find any statement about that.

My issue with these bands is that I never know what I might like and it might turn out to be NSBM.
