    You drilled holes into your "folding support" to save some weight, have you not thought about doing the same to those roof beams/supports? They look to be about 12 or 14 CM wide by 3 or 4 CM thick, I'm sure you could lose a significant amount of weight that way!

    • @dansbuilds
      @dansbuilds  Před rokem +1

      Hey! Yeah I did consider that, however was just a bit over drilling holes haha. Drafting up the plans and getting everything CNC'd would be the way to go. The roof beams are 12mm thick ply, excluding two at the front which are 24mm.

    Smart with everything you need and good head room. Practicality is what we all want to achieve and it seems you have nailed it. Are you OK with the width?

    • @dansbuilds
      @dansbuilds  Před 2 lety

      Hey cheers dude, yeah the width has been fine for us. Although might go wider for the next build so it’s possible to sleep side on rather than length ways.

  • @jollyandwaylo
    @jollyandwaylo Před rokem

    It's a good idea to coat all edges with epoxy so it there are any leaks around windows, the plywood doesn't start to rot. Let the epoxy soak into the edges. You might even want to thin the epoxy a bit to let it soak in.

      @@user-zf2rw8ms8c sorry mate can’t remember!
      If you weigh your roof and /4 you should get a rough idea what you need. Better to over engineer it I reckon!

  • @razamatazbaz7021
    @razamatazbaz7021 Před 2 lety +1

    Nice work mate.
    What's the "dry" weight?
    and
    How is the canvas attached to the body?

    • @dansbuilds
      @dansbuilds  Před 2 lety

      Never weighed it but me and 4 friends managed to lift it on by hand. So guessing roughly 350kg.
      The canvas is attached with the ‘poor mans fiberglass’ method. Essentially painters drop cloth and PVA glue. Then finished with house paint 👌.

    Do you still know for how much kg the gas struts are rated for?
    …and if you would replace it, which ones would you choose?

    • @dansbuilds
      @dansbuilds  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I can't recall the exact amount... I just measured the weight of the roof then divided by 4 (the number of struts)
      Then you just get the gas strut suited to that weight. Be sure to take into account any solar/other roof storage in the weight calculation.. I forgot to do this haha

    • @dansbuilds
      @dansbuilds  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey mate I used screws with a plastic washer. As metal sometimes makes canvas perish quicker if it corrodes
