Hey guys, there is no need to be afraid of a colonoscopy. My mom had 3 colonoscopies and they didn't even hurt afterwards (she was under anaesthesia). My mom had stage 4 colon cancer diagnosed at age 64. She had no pain at all!! Only an occasional small sharp pain as if ovulating. My mom went through operation, radiation, and chemo, and she did not lose her hair, did not have nausea. The radiation made her uncomfortable and obviously surgery was painful. But for all of you that are scared of just having a colonoscopy, trust me it does not really hurt. My mom's did not hurt at all. She is just sorry that she did not have a colonoscopy since 50 yrs old. After one year since being diagnosed, she is perfectly healthy today!

I just had a colonoscopy last week. It did not hurt one bit. The stuff they made you drink was the worst. Use apple juice and mix them so you don't heave like I did. They found a tumor which we are waiting on the biopsy results. However, my doctor told me to cancel everything I will be having chemo. So its cancer. My bowels started changing awhile ago. Sometimes I'd have terrible pain when I went. Then a couple of months ago blood and a terrible smell started. My stools became weird, sometimes I only pooped blood. Felt like I couldn't empty myself and needed to go back to the toliet. I got the colonoscopy and that part was easy with no pain. Better to get checked then end up 6 ft under folks. Go get yours, please!!!

I went with the government issued stool test which returned positive for blood , so had the colonoscopy and a small pollop was removed at the same time, had no drama a very slight inconvenience with prep , not recommended but got myself to the hospital by public transport , just one more bowel evacuation before bedding down waiting for the theatre porter , then woke up quick after procedure went home no problems , one more unusual bowel movement next day and bowel came back to perfect working order in no time.

Copayments for colonoscopy are very high. i spent over $250.00 on these lately. I have Iritable Bowel Syndrome and finding a way to have more regular bowel movements was very important. So far so good after 30 years.
