    Everybody loves Cary Grant. I've always had a love for black & white movies. Black and white movies are the absolute best.

    Yes. I think it’s Cary Grant’s time when most of the real gentlemen exist. Great video again! 👍🏻

    YES!! Bring back the classic, well dressed, stoic gentleman!! 'North By Northwest' is a masterpiece!!! It's what you hope you would be as an "every man" who finds himself in dire circumstances. NO ONE looked better being chased in a cornfield by a biplane!!!

    My favorite movies are To catch a thief and Charade so I truly appreciate and agree with this video. There were cool guys like Steve Mcqueen and Paul Newman but there was this relatable thing to Cary that made him really enjoyable to watch.

      I always enjoy his relaxed poise and wit. Of course he did have a script but he presented it so well. To catch a thief is one of my favs too, i also liked Philadelphia Story. Thanks for watching and enjoying.

    My late Grandfather Arthur Lyons made the famous suit for North By Northwest. And made many for Cary .

    Great video on arguably the most stylish actor of the Golden Age of Hollywood. It's interesting how most of the clothing he wore throughout his career actually came from his own wardrobe. For instance, everything that Grant wore in To Catch a Thief came directly from his own wardrobe that he chose himself for the role and what he believed what the charachter should wear.

    Speaking of Cary Grant movies... My all time favorite is Father Goose. He is not suave and sophisticated. But, DANG! It is a terrific movie. He even talked about how much he enjoyed playing a different kind of character.

    I think nostalgia is overrated. We have plenty of gentlemen around today if you do the work and look for them. George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hanks and Barack Obama are all great examples are true gentleman. I'd even include Timothy Sands.

      @FashionableFather  Před 4 lety

      Great point! I actually thought about that while editing. When I first saw Clooney in movies he also reminded me of those stars, but you’re wrong this is not nostalgia...this is genius.

    Unfortunately the actors you use as examples: Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, etc., were mostly unhappy and dissatisfied with themselves as adults. They acted confident on screen because they were good actors. Instead of acting and relying on props to support a role you think you should play, just try being genuine.

    • @FashionableFather
      @FashionableFather  Před 2 lety +1

      Story throughout history has been a way to hold a mirror up to ourselves to inspire or create a model to live by or not live by. That source today is tv and film; that’s the point of the vid/conversation, to take a look at what you’re modeling yourself after.

    • @LL-xt7yo
      @LL-xt7yo Před 2 lety

      @@FashionableFather Seek out real people to model yourself after who have accomplishments in the real world instead of tv and film characters. TV and film is escapism, perhaps based on some life experiences but mostly not. Remember what Cary Grant said about himself, “Everyone wants to be Cary Grant, even I want to be Cary Grant.” He knew he was play acting. Take inspiration from someone such as Abraham Lincoln, instead of an actor portraying Abraham Lincoln.

    my question for you would be if you admired the men of style and good taste back then and how we should want to emulate them, then why did you make this video dressed so badly with no color or taste yourself? Edith Head wouldnt have approved of you and your sense of style thats for sure and I think that Carey had a flair for style because he was a closet gay and so were many others but they always payed more attention to style and colors than boring men would!........

      You remind me of a fantastic quote, "You will only be criticized by the people doing less than you, never by those who are doing more."
