The Waltons had many recurring characters - The Baldwin Sisters were two of the most fun. They made "the recipe" and Miss Emily spoke frequently about her lost love Ashley Longworth. So it seemed only fitting to also share memories of working with Jonathan Frakes as Ashley Longworth Jr.
Helen Kleeb (Miss Mamie) and Mary Jackson (Miss Emily) were two of my favorite recurring actresses and watching their interaction with Will Geer, Ellen Corby, Michael Learned, Ralph Waite and Richard Thomas made for great television and memorable moments during filming.
I've been asked a lot about these two wonderful characters - hope you enjoy!

• The Waltons - The Bald... - Zábava
I live with my sister in a brick home. Neither of us married, and our last name is Baldwin. We are ALWAYS being called The Baldwin Sisters, and people ask us for "the recipe." lol 😂😂
Funny!
Hope you are able to take it in good humor. :)
🤣
@@judynorton2598 Oh, definitely! No one has ever said it in an insulting way. Besides, we love the Waltons and the Baldwin sisters. 😊
That's funny.. love the Baldwins, are you ladies up in years?
The Walton's wouldn't have been the same without the Baldwins. Their characters added spice to the show.
I agree!
lol in more ways than one.
That is true Jim but I would take it a step farther and that all other characters on the show made it a community of wonderful citizens who cared about each other, looked out for each other and willing to help out when there was a need. Walton's Mountian was truly a great community!
@@michaelkemp2696 I fully agree, but there was something about the eccentric nature of the Baldwin's that was out of place for the times, but worked really well in the show.
@@michaelkemp2696 excatly. Just like having all the ingredients makes for a great coke. Ike,Ep,Baldwins, they all made the show great.
The Waltons is one of my favorite shows along with Little House on the Prairie. Both were good clean family shows. I never tire of watching every rerun. As long as the networks will play them I will forever watch❤️
Me too! I watch the Walton’s everyday at noon
The backstory of Ashley
Longworth was golden. She never got over him 50 years later
And to find that letter that papa hid regarding the proposal to Emily to meet under the maple tree. That was heartbreaking, and finding the ring in the Maple tree.
Always loved when Will Geer's character would stop by for a sample of The Recipe, and when he got home he'd get the cold shoulder from Ellen Corby.
Including when he found Miss Emily's shoe, the one she lost when she and Miss Mamie fled their home when Lutie Bascomb broke in to the recipe room.
I loved how he mentioned that Miss Emily offered him a kiss or a taste of the recipe, and he took both, to Grandma's "You old fool!!" response
Absolutely
@@judynorton2598 I always wonder how true to life that was for Mr. Hamner and his family.
She was always mean to him. It was always you old fool and a shove. I did not like grandmas character, she was an ugly wife who was never kind to Zeb. So judgemental about everyone and everything. Zeb would be in a good mood and she wouldn't like it at all. Even in the Season 7 opener where it's looking back at grandpas death, they show flashbacks of them and I'm not sure if they never had a tender moment, but the flashbacks were even of her being mean to Zeb and pushing him away when he grabbed her leg a few times and called him some mean words while he was trying to be romantic.
@@julieNskip You should watch The Separation....
I still watch The waltons because it takes you back to a time when family was family and United and full of love and helping each other we have lost this in America.
The big family suppers are a thing of the past. Children have no respect for their parents or other adult. I remember being lucky to get 1 gift at Christmas and loved getting fruit in my stocking. Not today. God bless
@@cherrymccall4806 Cherry, very true. I went to large family dinners, cookouts, beach barbequing, etc, when I was young till my teens. Then the older relatives passed on. The new generation are so into their lives, they just aren't social the way it used to be. I belonged to a church and we would do the same. But that to has ended. I miss the gathering, cookouts, and fun 😊
Luckily we still get together... although my brother snd I aren't parents yet we get together with my uncle and cousins...we're all too old for presents but always get each other something lol.
I like old shoes from my childhood
The 1930s weren't like and neither were the 1970s.
I remember writing a letter to Mary Jackson when I was in High School back in the 1980's telling her how much I enjoyed her on the "Waltons" and her storylines. She was so very kind and generous. She sent me an 8x10 autographed picture and a note that I still have in an album to this day. The Baldwin sisters really did add their own special touch to this series. Thank you Judy for your behind the scenes look at their journey on the show.
My pleasure.
How special ❤
Thank you Judy Norton. ❤
My family grew up watching the Waltons. We were a large family of 13 kids! My mother used to get upset with us when we were being rambunctious and she'd ask us, "why can't you be more like the Waltons?" At night we'd all say "goodnight" to each other the same way the Waltons did. lol Thank you for some great memories.
I love that! Wow - 13 kids - what an adventure that must have been growing up.
I love the way, Emily couldn't get Ashley off her mind. The Baldwins was such an asset to the show.
Loved the way Grandpa and Daddy liked them too! Of course not so with Olivia and grandma.
Oh yeah!
Ah yes, since I am in my early 60s, I already get a far away look and recall the days of young love. In my case, I married him, but none are sweeter quite as the first loves.
@@m.e.d.7997 I like the way that, when they were conversing and one got impatient with other, she would say, "Sister! (and then whatever correction applied)." That happened especially more in "The Homecoming".
@@kathypellette2509 Same here! I married my first love. We just celebrated 37 years married. It’s fun to reminisce about young love together!
I love how “generous and kind” you are in your description and attitude toward everyone you worked with. It makes listening especially nice and memorable.
Thank you so much.
I do too! You’re very sweet and kind, Judy. Down to earth.
@@lamarshalewis5380 I agree her narration is easy to listen to. It comes across as genuine and her vocal tone is pleasing.
Hey Cousin Debbie! LOL. I actually have a cousin named Deborah but she has a different last name.
I always loved your tone of voice on the show. My favorite is when Curt and Mary Ellen were each flirting with another and they both confessed to each other. I love Mary Ellens little talk with him, so understanding and that voice, so comforting.
We love the Waltons. Such good characters and plot, the Baldwin sisters were truly funny, great characters.
The Baldwin sisters were the result of brilliant writing, for me it was their chemistry with grandpa that brought a smile to my face, I love their moments together !
Such fun characters and so wonderfully acted.
I once wrote on my Fb page that the funniest line I ever heard in a drama series came from Miss Mamie and Miss Emily. Hearing a creeping noise coming from the outside door to the recipe room and frightened, Miss Emily said, "Sister, do you think that could be Papa's spirit.?" Always the logical one, Miss Mamie replied, "Oh, no Sister. Papa always used the front door." Miss Emily and Miss Mamie came straight out of those Southern gothic short stories by William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, and Flannery O'Conner. I loved them. Still do.
I remember that: in "The Fire": everyone suspected it was Lutie Bascomb wanting to get a hold of The Recipe.
Later on their shifty cousin Polonious, and his cohort Colonel Tecumseh Henderson, tried to get the Sisters to give up their recipe stills, saying that a meteor piece was their father expressing his displeasure
Brilliant!
❤❤❤❤😂🤣
Whoever pick the two ladies playing The Baldwin Sisters they did a good job They were perfect and if Earl Hamner pick them thumbs up
It was mandatory in my house to watch the Waltons every week my mom loved that show and she insisted on it.
The Baldwin sisters added so much to the show, they were absolutely hilarious, and acted their lines to perfection. RIP.
They were such a great part of the show.
Loved that scene where they try to adopt Jason and the Dad's response.
I was also going to make the same post. I also Love how the mother reacted. It was both comedy and drama, at the same time; and handled with true professionalism.
"Thank you, ladies, but we're not putting any of our children up for adoption this year." John was almost always very tactful and very diplomatic. And he was understanding about the fact that the Baldwin ladies were somewhat eccentric.
I love Olivia's response when the Baldwins wanted to adopt Jason
Loved the " Baldwin Sisters" characters. They seemed to dress eloquently and their hats were very stylish. Thank you
Hillarious and wonderful. "The Good Son" Jason would have done the Baldwin girls proud!
I really loved the scenes with the Baldwin’s I was always so impressed the gracious way they greeted Grandpa regardless of how he was dressed The middle of the depression and still southern hospitality was evident. The Baldwin’s had such a rich background of stories. Love this episode Judy. Still can’t believe I am talking to MaryEllen. I still have the catchers mitt I bought when you bought yours. Better choice than that dress. -Heather
Lol...I say to my husband...Mary Ellen told me this or that...he looks at me funny...yes Mary Ellen talks to me!!!😁😁
Awesome! Love that you have a catcher's mitt!
Does he think I'm your imaginary friend? lol
@@judynorton2598 he must😁
I loved the waltons when i was young . My whole family watched the waltons every week. And now im watching the reruns. Every night they come on, and i watch them over and over. I never get tired of watching them.
I always loved the episode where they were trying to convince John and Olivia about adopting Ben. That was classic! 🤣 The show would definitely not have been the same without them.
They wanted to adopt Jason, not Ben.
That one just cracks me up
Oh yeah it was Jason they were wanting to adopt wasn't it.
Ì remember the stoŕy aboùt going òn a picnic. And they took the Bàldwind sisters along. They sang on thè way back hòme. "Bý The Light of The Sillvery Moon"
@@danieljones4601 Indeed it was. It was Jason Walton is who they wanted to adopt as he was the musicial, talented one of the family and they loved the way he played the piano and wrote music.
Always loved the episodes featuring the Baldwin sisters, don't cha know.
Always loved when Mrs. Emily said that. Aww the pureness and innocence the old times
@@RichieB40444, the characters they portray are very naive. Probably from never having sex or a life and living in their fathers home even after his death and only not knowing too much about life. Sad Emily remembers Ashley Longworths only kiss and never knew of the ring he left her at the maple tree because of the letter their papa hid.
@@julieNskip Yes! That was so sad about the ring!
The Baldwin sisters had such GREAT chemistry together. I can't imagine the series without them. Another GREAT episode, Judy! Thank you.
Thank you so much!
i love that episode
I loved the relationship between Grandpa, John Sr, Johnboy and the Miss Mamie and Miss Emily. They would treat them with such care. Always watching out for them. ♥️
Loved the episode when Miss Emily was left a ring by Ashley, in a tree. The two Baldwin sisters were such an asset to Walton’s mountain.
Wouldn’t have been the same without them.
@@judynorton2598 Amen, to me the show never shied away from the reality of life in the hills of Virginia during the Depression.
Jonathan Fraakes in his prime and in that Navy uniform...🔥
Yes indeed!
Eye candy, for sure!
He was in his prime for several years!
A real looker!
I loved the one when Grandpa drove the Baldwin sisters into town to pay the Walton's electric bill and Grandma got jealous.
Yup Grandpa liked and appreciated those two!
@@m.e.d.7997 What Grandpa actually liked and appreciated was The Recipe ...
@@basilmarasco1975 Right.
@@basilmarasco1975 But I think he liked them too. You could tell. Grandma NO.
Grandpa slept on Ike's pool table. Love it.
Judy Norton does a most EXCELLENT job of narrating the history of behind-the scenes of the Waltons. Norton's narrative voice has a wonderful intonation that captures the listener's attention. Looking forward to hearing/seeing more videos from Ms. Norton!!
Thank you so much.
I love Judy Norton's narrations and information from behind the scenes of the Waltons. They're in good taste. She's great. God bless you Judy and I love the way the cast members got along.
These 2 women had an onscreen chemistry!!!!! They worked so well together!!!! Paring them together was brilliant!!!!! They worked so well together!!!! I wish we ALL could have met them!!!! It would have been a wonderful time!! They were great actresses. They played their parts very well. The love between Ashley Longworth and Miss Emily will never be forgotten! And don't forget about "Papas' recipe"!!!!!!!!! It was always funny how they wouldn't admit that it was bootleg whiskey!!!! They HAD to have known!!!! Great women!!! Thank you, Judy!!!!
True treasures.
I couldn't believe that on the new thanks giving special ,that grandma put the recipe in her pie ! That was just wrong. They will never be able to recreate a Walton special of long ago.
Really, just took their parts from Arsenic and Old Lace. But, they did a wonderful job at it, must say.
Jonathan Frakes went on to protray Commander William T. Riker in Star Trek "The Next Generation". The Baldwin Sisters were a hoot for sure.. Thank you ...
@timgraddy2418 Our family watched the entire Waltons series. A few years later, we watched Star Trek. Very interesting to see Mr. Frakes in that series.
In fall of 1979 my college roommate and I were working in a family restaurant and we' were informed by the manager that we needed to come in costume for Halloween. We didn't want to do ghosts or wizards or whatever so we were kind of stumped. Then we came up with dressing up as the Baldwin sisters. I am taller with black hair while my roommate was a short blond. We were recognized for what we hoped instantly. And the manager put us serving the drinks to every table instead of our assigned few. It was unbelievable how many people asked us for the "recipe". Fun times. And we won the costume contest by the way.
I think the Sisters' performances stole the storyline on a few occasions! 😉
That is so cool!
I used to love it when Grandpa and the Baldwin's would get together. Their acting was so believable that they really did know each other from the time they were kids. When grandma would catch him being with them was always funny.
Very sweet.
Judy, I just love you. I recently lost my best friend.. my brother, and wanted to share a memory with you. We were kids when the show originally aired and were huge fans. My brother and I not knowing what the recipe was because we were kids used to pretend we were drinking it. 😂 Our recipe was iced tea, and whenever one of us went to the fridge to get some iced tea we would say "Recipe Sista?" I have so many fond memories of the show, and my brother and I enjoyed reruns right up until he died of sudden heart failure. As adults we both commented on what a superb actress we thought you were, you really conveyed Mary Ellen's emotions well. All I can say is thank you. You truly brought joy to our lives. ❤
So very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing all these very sweet stories.
There was that episode when the school burned down , and they found some temporary space in Ike's store . The Baldwins came in to buy something, but instead decided to sit in during the class in session.
Very cute.
That scene was hilarious.
I remember that episode, I think the reason they did it was they never went to school, they had private tutors!
They were delightful
I was just thinking about Ashley Longworth, Jr. His scenes with the Baldwin sisters were great. I always loved the Baldwin sisters: they seemed like people I knew.
Judy, one of my favorites is when John Boy is graduating from HS and, he goes over to the Baldwin Sisters and they give him the tie clip and he kisses Miss Emily on the cheek and Miss Mamie's hand..and, those looks that they give each other is simply amazing ❣️
Yes!
It speaks to the character and the professionalism of the actresses - Ms. Kleeb and Ms. Jackson in regards to how much rehearsing they did and back story on their own time and in their own manor. Pure time tested stagecraft no doubt learned over years in their profession so that when the cameras rolled they could relax in character and work on performance. Clearly by sharing your fond memories of these two jewels in the series' crown, the Baldwin sisters and their portrayers - were as much a gift to the cast as The Waltons was a gift to its audience. And remains so...
The gift that keeps on giving...nearly 49 years later. Blessings to you Ms. Norton for sharing so much with us this year. I always have such a smile on my face hearing about your experiences.
Just love these two lady's
I love the reactions of John and Olivia when the Baldwins want to adopt Jason. But it ended very sweetly with them being invited to dinner.
Oh the Baldwins sisters. Those two kind sweet ladies. What a delight to watch them interact with each other.
I never watched The Waltons as a kid back in the 70s because I was more into space shows and detective shows, but at the beginning of this year I finally caught an episode on MeTV and fell in love with it.. It became a daily thing for me for a while in fact. Very well made and sometimes can make you mad, laugh or even tear up.. Thank you for the great insight Judy!!
Shout out MeTV
The Baldwin sisters are underrated and not shown enough love. So glad Ms Norton appreciates them!
Yes, Miss Norton does indeed love them and takes the time to also respond to all the fans of the show, which is very gracious of her to do.
My favorite episode with the two Baldwin sisters is when they found the room off the side of the wall leading to the stillery
Loved the episode where the Baldwin sisters decide to adopt Jason!
Me too!!
Me three
It seemed like the perfect solution to them. Olivia’s reaction was hilarious.
It was funny
Loved how they were going to name him Jason Walton Baldwin!
The Waltons was one of my favorite television shows as a kid. Every Thursday night, sponsored by Tide laundry detergent, if I recall correctly. My mother also loved the show because it reminded her of her own childhood growing up in the 30's and 40's. I've recently become reacquainted with the show, thanks to the re-runs and while it was only a television show, I feel like all the characters were all part of my own family. I can relate to so many of them and especially The Baldwin Sisters. There's a fussy old lady I know who is still alive and is the walking, talking epitome of Miss Mamie. I'm pretty sure she has some Mason jars full of "recipe" in her basement. Thank you for posting your memories of the show. Please keep them coming.
Really liked the episode when they discovered their Papa's secret room.
Me too.
The episode where Miss Mamie plays the recorder was on last night and we were cracking up, of course one was playing off the other in the scene and it just looked so organic. Even better to know they really worked at getting each scene just right. No wonder they are such perfection to watch.
@California Screaming Thats one of my most favorite scenes from the series😀
So many memorable scenes.
Hello 👋👋👋
ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS WAS YANCY TUCKER HE WAS JUST SO FUNNY!
He was one of my least favorite but I guess he was kind of funny and eccentric. Maybe I need to take another look.
I liked Yancey also! Always in sorta trouble!
@@jeanmarcks6269 I remember when he gave Elizabeth an egg shampoo. He also play Exidor on Mork and Mindy
@@jeanmarcks6269 That’s true. As I remember some of the boys liked hanging out with him. Lol
That episode of the house burning down Yancy got a big part because Ben went to live with him. That had some super hilarious moments in it. I still can’t believe that Olivia allowed him to go stay there. “Do you got a nail?”
The show was awesome. Takes me back to the 70s when I watched with my parents..
I revolve my life around the Waltons. I never miss an episode. I enjoy the Baldwin Sisters very much as do I enjoy the rest of the cast. Please continue with behind the scenes with Judy Norton-they are very informative.
Aren’t the Baldwin sisters the best?! Love these characters and the ladies who played them were brilliant.
I love their characters. So believable and the recipe so funny. I’m so enjoying ur videos. Glad you are continuing them.
Glad you like them!
Judy, since the first time I saw those episodes, every single time I witness a shower of autumn leaves I picture Miss Emily and Ashley Sr.. LOL
A classic Baldwin sister line is on "The Statue" where Emily (i think) says to Mamee, "Papa would never had permitted you to marry a fairwhether, They've only been in Virginia for 100 years"
Love that!
The Baldwin sisters were yet another example of characters who were cast perfectly! There scenes were always fun.
Totally agree.
The recipe spread lots of cheer 🥂
And got actress Elvira Drum and drunk!
not too sure olivia and grandma would agree with that one.
They complimented one another beautifully. They truly did act like two sisters that would have lived together for many years.
Like the bootlegger sisters on Mayberry.
I loved the Baldwin sistes. They always were reaching out to others.
.
The Baldwin sisters were a wonderful story lines in the show. Love this show. I am 61 years old and still watch it. ❤️
Ashley took liberties don't you know! Kissed Miss Emily under a swirl of maple leaves!
I loved the Baldwin sisters!!!!
And their house was stunning!
Thank you 4 your reply means alot ths k you again
We all did!
The writing for the Baldwin sisters and the acting were both superb. I always love any scenes they are in and hearing how they developed their characters through rehearsal and research is no surprise. Their timing was immaculate. Lovely, also to hear how they generously provided Mary with mentorship and support. Thank you Judy for sharing xxx

I met Helen Kleeb several years ago. She was so very kind.
It was so funny that Erin and Ashley is kissing and producer said ,the camera is off! Erin said , oh really I didn’t know it was off? Lol 😂 I like the way you said it Judy, so funny!
I truly agree! She enjoyed the rehearsal even if it isnt always such a great thing to rehearse a kissing scene. I loved Jonathan Frakes on Star Trek and I well recall his being on the Waltons. I surely enjoyed that episode.
Erin and Asley: "OK, we're ready for the next scene!!"
Thanks.
Jonathan Frakes, so handsome. Miss Emily and Miss Mamie, were wonderful and were really like sisters. Every episode with them was special
I always ADORED the Baldwin's & any time they were on screen it made me smile.
It seemed like later seasons gave them increased screen time ( which to me is a treat).
They were so consistently brilliant!
The Baldwin ladies had amazing chemistry! They could have almost passed for real-life sisters, since they worked so well together! They were very dignified and a bit old-fashioned, but very pleasant, generous, and had a great sense of humor!
a kiss under a maple in a shower of golden leaves....
Sweet.
The Baldwin's house was something else. Loved a lot of the shows about the Baldwins.
Looked like a mansion. Stunning!
The Baldwin sisters were fantastic, and I loved how Grandpa interacted with them. Judy, you are a dear to take your time to share this information with us, thank-you so much!
Thank you so much!
They really were an integral part of the show. Loved their scenes together ❤️
Thank you Judy for bringing this episode to us. Looking forward to hearing more about the Baldwin sisters.
So glad!
I always loved the Baldwin sisters! They would make you laugh and touch your heart at the same time! 😊❤️
Also, Jonathan Frakes was amazing as Ashley Longworth Jr. I always wished he hadn’t lost his faith. He and Erin were so perfect together! ❤️❤️
I agree.
We had the Marsh sisters in our Church growing up in the 70s ! They lived in a big house, fairly well off, and neither ever married, so similar to the Baldwin ladies. The only thing different was ours had no Recipe 😃
Two of my favorite actresses as well! Loved these ladies dearly! Thank you Judy, once again!
You are so welcome!
Absolutely love Jonathan in anything he does, especially his work with Dean Devlin. He directed my absolute favorite episodes of Leverage and The Librarians and so I can't wait for Leverage 2 to come out in 2021 cuz he recently directed an episode of that.
OMG...I've seen the episodes with Ashleigh and NEVER realized the actor was Jonathan Frakes!!
You're not alone. But you're all caught up now!:-)
He was, and is, definitely a handsome man.
Judy, you do a wonderful job telling these behind the scenes facts. I loved The Waltons from the very first episode. Thanks so much!
My pleasure
This was a gem! Never having a clue "the recipe" was hooch for 9 seasons...is Halarious and well done!
The Baldwin sisters were a trip. Loved how they wanted to adopt Jason, and how they got Tev. Fordwick drunk...and, yes, Johnatho Frakes , who was married to Genie Francis, was very good looking...
Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis are still married - have been married for over 30 years - an accomplishment!
IS good looking...
Loved them together on The North and the South
As "Little House" had Katherine McGregor as the fiesty, cantankerous and odd-centric Mrs. Oleson, "The Walton's" had the quiet, sophisticated eccentricity of the Baldwin sisters. Expertly portrayed by Mary and Helen, the sisters longed tor times past and continually searched for social advancement in a locale where there was none to be had. The "recipe" was the central element in their storyline, but I believe it was the versatility and professionalism of these two fine actresses that writers and directors dared to sidestory them - with immense success at that! Just as Michael Landon and Karen Grassle as Charles and Caroline - in onscreen "private moments" - enjoyed light gossip and a laugh at Mrs. Oleson's expense, I have to wonder if John and Olivia didn't experience a similar "in the dark" moment musing about the antics of the Baldwins!
Great segment as always, Judy! Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely insights.
@@judynorton2598 😊😊😊
I always thought that the Mrs. Olson equivalent was Corabeth Godsey. But I guess you could look at it and that way as well.🤔🏡
I loved the “kid being caught with his hand in the cookie jar” reactions the men all seemed to have after returning from the Baldwin ladies house...we all knew what they were doing there...cheers !
They were so awesome for the show! They really had a knack for comedy between them. When they wanted to adopt Jason is one of the funniest & one of my favourite episodes.
I just ran across these 'Behind the Scenes' segments the other day. They are wonderful! I have always enjoyed finding and watching reunion specials over the years coming. In 2015 I was able to visit Schuyler Va. It was such a nice visit and meant a lot seeing the recreation of sets, the house, memorabilia along with ]conversations with some of the staff working who had knowledge and were interested in sharing. (probably becoming less so as years go on). It just makes you smile, feel good to reflect upon something good in these days and times! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
So glad you are enjoying.
You look very pretty. I like your shirt. It looks like summer, LOL at Christmas time! You remind me of a bright summer day, fixing to go out and enjoy the day!
Oh thank you! Gotta love Christmas time in Southern Calif!
I love the Baldwin sisters. They're so innocent and naive and sweet.
I agree - they are such fun characters
When watching these two wonderful ladies as the Baldwin sisters, I get the feeling that there is a kindness in their souls that gave them a special quality to exercise their craft the way they did. Your kindness in sharing these stories makes it evident that these were joyful times.
They were wonderful, sweet, kind ladies and a pleasure to work with them.
Thank you for telling all the details about the different people on the show. I enjoy your stories of the actors and what it was like to be on the show.
Being a fan of the Waltons, as a youngster, and a lifetime fan of Star Trek I was taken off guard by the title of this video. I didn’t remember Jonathan Frakes in those episodes.
He was in the mini series North and South.
Amazing who stopped by the mountain, right?
he was pretty much an unknown in 1979 until his big break 8 years later as commander riker on Star Trek the next generation witch 5 to 6 years ago got digitally remastered and released on full 1080p HD blu ray, I just saw an ad on CZcams for the blu ray HD deluxe remastered addition of little house on the prairie, it would be nice if the Waltons got its own HD remastered edition
These two ladies were so sweet and kind. They were also a lot of fun, especially when the recipe was involved! There will never be a show like the Waltons again, and I am thankful we have this series to enjoy. Thank you for sharing all the wonderful things that we would never have known without you, “Mary Ellen”
Our pleasure!
They, the Baldwin sisters, did a super job as their characters. The whole cast did such an awesome job! Loved the show!
Ahh, thanks.
I have always loved this show and I still watch it everyday it's like spring time to me thank you so much
The Waltons became my second family at a time when I needed that so much. God bless you for doing this! Merry Christmas to you and your entire family!
The Baldwin sisters were such a delight! The comedic talents of these two actors was brilliant. Richard Thomas mentioned how much fun he had working the the late John Ritter. This brought to mind the hilarious episode where Grandpa takes the young firebrand preacher to visit the Baldwin sisters and they get drunk on the recipe. John Ritter played that part brilliantly. All of the quirky town characters brought so much to the show. Ike Godsey, and the Baldwin sisters are my favorites!
I agree, The Baldwin Sisters were such fun characters.
One of the series' most poignant moments was when Miss Emily fessed(after getting shaken up seeing Erin and Ashley Longworth, Jr. smooching ) that she actually HAD known that Ashley Jr. was NOT his father (the beau of her youth) but had deliberately pretended that the son was the father because she knew that Ashley, Jr. was there to bring sad tidings about his father. In fact, the senior Mr. Longworth had died but had tasked his son to give the news to Miss Emily- along with a final letter for her eyes only. Of course, it was a good testament to the Baldwin Sisters' characters that the Recipe just made them giddier and goofier than when sober but NEVER mean or bitter (unlike with Corabeth). I know it's late on my part but thanks for this!
I appreciate your comments.
You or Kami have asked for ideas for future videos. We would love to see one or several on Virdie. Such a beautiful lady, we love her part in the Waltons.
Great idea!!
Agreed, Verdie and Harley's love story was so beautiful! Two terrific actors who were seen in many other TV shows in addition to The Waltons.
I can't begin to tell you how much I am enjoying these episodes, no matter the length of the episode, I am learning something new with each one you post. Thank you again for posting, BE WELL!
Thank you! So Glad to hear it!
We have a Tradition in our family to watch the Waltons every Thanksgiving & Christmas for the past 28 years!...it never grows old ,a timeless Classic! 💞💞💞
They defiantly brought some comic relief in a casual lighthearted way ,
miss mamie did an episode of the golden girls. she played blanches mother who was in an old folks home.
I saw that episode recently, I picked her out right away!
Thanks Judy!!! I adored those characters....Ashley, he kissed her under the tree. Oh, poor Miss Emily!!! They were superb actors in their respective roles. I just love how they didn't know they were making moonshine, albeit high quality!!! One of my favourite episodes, two part is The Wedding. Yeah, hot and heavy with Curtis. He was the perfect guy for Mary-Ellen. David was too 'normal'. 'Young' Mary-Ellen was so fiery and opinionated and needed a guy like Curtis Willard to spark that electricity. Great casting and acting in that episode!! Any special memories of working with Tom Bower? " dear sweet gentle Mary-Ellen". "I wouldn't marry you Curtis Willard if you were the last man on earth! Such fun.
Then David played on One Life To Live
Yes - sparks did fly in that episode.
But then he deserts her and their son and is living someone else playing house while Mary Ellen is grieving his death. Such a wonderful pair.
The Baldwin Sisters were so perfect ly portrayed! Love those Ladies!!❤❤❤❤
Me too!
The Baldwin sisters were my favorite on the Waltons. Not only the characters, but them as actresses. They added so much, even when not in a scene, and how the whole community loved them.
So true, can't imagine the show without them.
Actually I thought the casting was fantastic.. liked the brother/sister, sister/sister, and brother/brother interaction. Both good scripts and acting. Made the family so likeable.
