      Concentrate on where your break point is, then figure out where you need to stand to hit the pocket, visualize a straight line from your slide board to where the break point board is at the break point distance and see where that line intersects with the arrows, now you have two targets to hit, hope this makes sense its hard to explain in a text comment. Joe Slowinski does a great job of explaining it and showing you what board to slide on and where your ball needs to cross at the arrows based on your breakpoint distance and board with his advanced lane play strategy spreadsheet.

    • @TexPhillyP
      @TexPhillyP Před rokem

      It’s not a dumb question, but to answer your question they use it all the time. Why you ask, because no matter if they’re trying to speed up or slow down (there are other changes but I don’t want to over confuse you) the constant in the process is that their legs stay the same so when they get to the foul line they are in sink every time and their follow through is perfectly executed as well. Hopefully that helped some or possibly Brad and Kyle will respond with a better tip. Good luck out on the lanes.

  • @byronfranek2706
    @byronfranek2706 Před rokem

    I conceptualize timing in the following way:
    Directly under the ball at the address position, there is an imaginary vertical tube the same diameter as the ball. The ball is dropped into the tube and moves down then up within the tube until the ball reaches the apex of the backswing at the power step, at which point the ball escapes the top of the tube and is free to move forward as it drops into the release zone. if the ball does not remain within the "tube" prior to the apex, the timing and/or swing direction (swing slot) is off and balance would be affected. The tube defines timing as well as swing direction. It is a three dimensional concept.

    Another TIP: Buy a pair of good shoes that have changeable soles & heels! The rubber sole of the NON-SLIDING foot will provide a great deal of GRIP and really help you explode into your slide! Not so much if you're using old House rental shoes, or cheap bowling shoes!!!

    • @tmtmtlsml
      @tmtmtlsml Před rokem

      I got my first pair of bowling shoes with the different soles for each foot this year and I've never felt more comfortable on the approach. I can finally make a strong push into the slide without worrying about slipping. Helped my balance a ton

  • @bobbybobman3073
    @bobbybobman3073 Před rokem

    Poor bowler myself here, but I realize that I do bowl (straight) in the mid to upper 20's mph (23-25 on a bad day, 25-28 on the good days) if I'm spinning, I'm around 18-21mph but from what I see on line (for my rev rate I probably should aim for more like 16-18 to get a bit more hook), and what I can't seem to understand is how people are getting in 4 or 5 steps in before the line? But I'm hoping to find some more consistency. Currently I'm only going 2 steps before starting my slide.
    I start left foot on the back edge of the wood and right foot about 14-16 inches Infront. I take a full step like.im normally walking. Then my right leg comes down for my power step, and I explode through into my slide.
    I can't seem to time things up without this form. I can't seem to get a backswing whenever I try to add another step in there. Do people have to consciously contract their delts to raise the ball on the backswing?
    Because with my form it never even feels like I'm lifting the ball with my muscles, it feels like the momentum of the approach, raises the ball for me.
    Thoughts? I am coming from a sports background where explosive movement has always been rewarded, basketball, disc golf, and parkour. So I guess I'm asking what changes other than smaller steps do I need to make so the timing of this all will workout?

    • @chadwhedbee5581
      @chadwhedbee5581 Před rokem

      Step before the slide should be short and you should slowly be getting lower with knee bend leading up to that power step. A little bend in the elbow and you can get a really high back swing. Like they said though, need to get the ball to the top of that back swing when you're doing the power step and then the ball comes forward as u go into the slide. Might want to adjust how high your starting position is. If you're early bring the ball a bit higher and lower if you have late timing.

    • @chadwhedbee5581
      @chadwhedbee5581 Před rokem

      1)Once you go below 14 lbs, the cores aren't the same anymore... don't do that.
      2) Power comes from foot speed, not muscling the ball with your arm.
      EJ Tackett is a bean pole, and Norm Duke is 5'5", and STILL throwing a 16 lb ball at +/- 58 years old... you don't need to be a big guy, or throw an unnecessarily light ball to generate power.
