- holy heckin guacamole it feels like forever since i've done one of these! as time consuming as it is to film and edit these videos, somehow this channel just doesn't feel right without the monthly week of 😕 i tried to put together something a little different for you guys this time and have been listening to a lot of your feedback regarding things you like and don't like about this series, so hopefully i'm getting closer to making it perfecto for you all. in this week of, it's import week at @northshoretropicals (who's on vacation) which means i spent a LOT of time with @youdontevengrowhere 😂 we did an hour and a half long Q&A while we repot imports answering both personal and plant questions, i repotted some plants at home, told stories no one asked for and also took you through my watering routine. hope you guys enjoy this one!

Hey guys, I’ve been listening to this video whilst doing chores around my apartment. Thank you for the company. I use regular dishwashing liquid, usually Palmolive, mixed in a spray bottle with water and a bit of vinegar to get rid of any, and all bugs on my plants. It works wonders on everything, especially mealybugs, and I drown the first few inches of potting mix in a solution of it as well to get rid of the eggs. It probably would not work so well in non-drainage vessels, but for my plants, which are all in my own aroid mix with drainage, there is no long-term buildup of soap to deal with. I’ve never tried growing in pon or Lecca as those are very expensive here in Australia. Touch wood, I haven’t had a pest problem in a few years. I occasionally get a mealybug on new plant that I rescue from the bargain area at my local Bunnings (our big hardware chain) but a quick spray with the mixture and problem solved. I also use that mixture to clean all my surfaces. Thanks again for keeping me company and I hope you guys have a great weekend.

I keep seeing people giving the info about the granules causing spider mites to be more fertile, so I’m glad to see that the information is definitely spreading in Facebook groups!
I have thrips for the first time this year and I’m so stressed about it 😭
don't be stressed!! breathe-- i promise it'll be fine. just start looking at thrips treatments as a form of cardio. 😮💨 what's your regimen right now to try and get rid of them?
@@unplantparenthood I only just noticed them about a week and a half ago, but didn’t have any treatment other than mosquito dunks for fungus gnats..
I placed an order for soil amendments with OptimizeOrganics, and they sent me 4 predatory mite sachets for free (2 different kinds, one for thrips and one for spider mites), which was a nice surprise considering I was looking at buying them anyways!
I had been using alcohol on a q-tip and removing/killing them by hand, but I stopped doing that when I put the mite sachets out
The sachets have been out on my plants for about 4 days now, so I haven’t yet noticed anything, but from the research and feedback I’ve been seeing online, it seems that I’ll likely need to buy more predatory mites, since I’m trying to avoid chemical treatments as much as possible

I got huge bags of leca at IKEA for 5$. That was a year or two ago though. I prefer PON or a homemade PON as well.

Every time I peel lots of corms it’s only after about the 10th one I start trying to peel my skin off instead of the corn skin…. Yet I never remember to wear gloves at the start 😮

I agree with you on the Ecuagenera Anthurium hybrid naming. It’s very much confusing now and during the live sales if you are not careful you could end up buying the same plants multiple times. And The prices are getting crazy and customer service has gone bad as well.

I went to Ecuagenera FL yesterday and was so confused by all of the names. I kept having to open up their website to see what the actual crosses were. I did get a "Crystal Splendid" which is crystallinum x splendidum and I guess that name makes more sense than "Raven's Heart" but still super confusing. Just put the crosses on the label!

I had stink bug eggs on the backside of a tetrasperma cutting and left it there NC I thought it was lady bug eggs bc t'was the season.... it was not cute lady bugs... I threw the propagation away after dunking everything in 99% alcohol... the pain still lingers 🥲

I find the question about millennials and plants funny. I’m often at plant shops and find Gen Z besties plant shopping or couples on dates. Not everyone is going to have hundreds of plants but, I think they speak to everyone on some level.

Whenever I try to root corms in a soil mix or water and dome them with a lid, they start molding after a few days. How often do you let yours "breathe?" Currently trying perlite, but haven't domed yet because I'm too scared to lose them. Thoughts?

That TPS BILLIONS just does not work for me & I don't understand why!! Ive heard such great things about it but all its done for me is bring my black velvet to the brink of death & burned & yellowed my others. I'm now too nervous to try using it again😅

Where do you guys get those huge clear nursery pots? I’ve been looking for a 14 inch wide 9 inch tall nursery pot in clear for months and I can’t find any bigger than eight or 9 inches. Does anyone else know where you can get nursery pots that large in clear?

Gluten for medical reasons like celiac or. Hashimotos is much more violent than just bloating out like a beach ball. 6 weeks of problems for me if I’m glutened.
It is not a diet trick, it is wheat, rye and barley.
Tons of fattening stuff has none of that. No other condition gets folks assigning motive to no gluten. Which leads to stigma, and sometimes, being deliberately glutened by people who don’t believe it is a thing. Please don’t question the reasons for anyone.
I’m confused by this comment. What is this referring to in my video? I’m not celiac, but gluten sensitive and have to take pills before eating gluten or I’ll pass out with certain foods. So I’m not sure what this comment is referring to?

i was reading some threads about it online and we are definitely not alone! i think the sensation of being drowsy can trigger people with anxiety disorder. i really only take benadryl if I really really have to. I'd rather be itchy than have a panic attack 🙃
