As every year we have to pass the technical inspection of our vehicle shortly, so we proceed to carry out the Pre-ITV review and maintenance of our vehicle, which in this case is our Volkswagen Bora, identical in engine to models like Golf, Passat and a few more from the VAG group…
A vehicle that we acquired approximately 4 years ago and of which we are tremendously very satisfied due to its high quality and optimal operation.
In this revision and as every year, we proceed to change the engine oil, the oil filter, the air filter and we also add an additive for diesel treatment, anti-smoke and injector cleaning in order to reduce opacity as much as possible for the ITV.
For this review we also wanted to change the gearbox oil (the great forgotten for many) with the transmission oil recommended by the manufacturer, which is an SAE 75w80, viscosity indicated for the correct lubrication of the gears in VW.
When to change the transmission oil in VW?
Well, although it has always been said that this oil should never be changed from the moment it leaves the production factory, it is something that does not make any sense, since this oil loses its lubricating properties over the years, at the same time that it picks up dirt and ferricha or metal shavings, part of the wear of the gears of the box.
Hence, it is recommended to change the oil, there is no exact number of km to change this oil, since each one says one thing, but we and from our own experience, advise changing the transmission oil every 100,000 km or before . You can really change it whenever you want, but it's like everything else, if you want your vehicle to last and last, you must provide it with the best care to slow down its wear and, of course, with the best gearbox oils on the market.
Steps to follow to change the oil in the manual gearbox on VW Bora.
In order to carry out this maintenance operation on our gearbox we must follow the following steps:
Step 1: First of all, we must put the car on a flat surface and raise it with the hydraulic jack enough to be able to work comfortably, once with the appropriate height, we will secure the position with the jack stands for safety.
Step 2: Secondly, and with all the materials already prepared, we will proceed to remove the plastic sump cover from our Volkswagen Bora in order to have access to the gearbox and its fill and drain screws.
Step 3: Thirdly, and after removing the bottom cover of the engine, we can see the drain and filler plugs in the lower and front part of the gearbox. In order to unscrew these plugs, we will prepare the ratchet with the 17mm Allen socket. .

Yo también utilizo el castrol 5/30 y va de lujo en mi Peugeot 807 en cuanto al adictivo la ultima vez puse winss y no parece que note mejoria la verdad en fin ahora dentro de nada tengo que cambiar aceite filtros y el aditivo urea que eso si es un coñazo cambiarlo saludos mixim

En transmisión manual no lleva filtro de aceite hidráulico, si no me equivoco es solo en transmisión automática, ya que en el despiece que vimos en el ordenador me lo hubiera indicado...
