  • Rebecca Scott believes that most intractable social problems aren't actually intractable - we just need to be far more creative with our solutions.
In this talk at TEDxCanberra, Rebecca Scott talks about where the dollars go when we buy our daily cup of coffee, and how thinking and acting in a more sustainable way can make a measurable difference all the way from the farmer to the barista - especially when that barista used to be a homeless youth.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).

I love the push for voting with your dollar, so offen we point the finger at the greedy companies but the awful truth is that as a consumer we make the decision for them to sustain their growth. Thank you for advising of the Ethical Shopping Guide I will use it wisely.

Well said. I don't make much but I have committed to buying shade grown coffee bc of birds and biodiversity. They are also in line with fair trade and typically organic. It is close to $20/lb so I savor every drop!
