  • Day 3 in St. John’s had seen us taking a short drive to Cape Spear, a definite highlight for many tourists as you can explore the history and traditions of Newfoundland and Labrador’s oldest surviving lighthouse. It is also a highlight for those WWII buffs as it gives one the chance to wander the ruins of Second World War fortifications as well as see icebergs floating on by.
Every year hundreds of whales migrate to the waters off the coast of Cape Spear to feed, with Humpback, Minke, and Fin whales being the most commonly seen.
Peak season for whale watching is mid May to mid September.
