#ZVE1 #A7CII #A7C2 - Zábava
Props to pushing these videos out, much appreciated, and great work!
By far the best comparison video on YT for these two cameras. Great job.
thanks!!
I was waiting for this one 🙌🏼 thanks bro! 🔥
I think this is the best video on these two. I don’t want to be more of a video guy, I want to take pics I/family can print. So you helped us!!! 🙏🏽
Pre-ordered the a7cii, for my personal shooting style I don't use a lot of Slo-mo, and I do love photography as well. a7cii all the way, it 's basically an a74 with a7r5 features like the AI chip. Also, I just do youtube, don't need dual card slots.
Sold my a74, bought the zve1, selling my a7siii, already pre-ordered the a7cii. The zve1/a7cii is a perfect combo for what I need and want.
That IS a great combo
Hey Chris any reason you sold the A74 for the ZVE1? I just bought the ZVE1 and am regretting not getting the A74 instead!
@@guitarwalljamsthe zve1 is basically the same camera as the a7siii with some upgrades and smaller ff, the a7cii is very much the same camera as the a74 with some upgrades and smaller ff. Mostly I swapped the zve1 for the a7sii and a7cii/a74. I wanted the smaller size and upgraded features the newer cameras have. I am still very happy with this camera combo and I don’t really miss the a74 or a7siii.
If you could only have 1 for long form video interviews and travel video/photo which camera ?
@@jaymills1720for me, I would choose the zve1 without a 2nd thought. But I’m not really much of a photo shooter, primarily only video. In my experience the a7cii is a little less likely to over overheat than the zve1. So if you are doing photo and video and need a solid video shooter too for longer format shoots the a7cii might be the better option.
The video I've been waiting on! I'm so undecided on which one of these will be my first Full Frame Camera A7C II or ZV-E1. I own the ZV-E10.
Get it! I have the zve10 and getting the zve1 was a game changer for me. I think you’ll love the more of everything you already have on your zve10
Yeah the low light, full sensor 60fps and 4k120 is essential for me, especially the 4k120. ZVE1 also actually takes very nice photos. And the whole point of the camera for me when out is it is small for travel etc (have it with the 24mm G F2.8 which is very small) and that dynamic stabilisation is used regularly by me and I never bother with a gimbal.
Another great video, you knock it out of the park, I’ve been watching since your channel was really small and you deserve to see it growing.
Same for me i have been spending my week deciding what camera to get the a7iv or zve1 i have the a7iii and use it hybrid. But the zve1 is such a video killer that iam going for that one its only 12megapixel but the photos look really good cant see mutch difference except when you go and crop the picture. But thats why i take the a73 as backup and my iphone 15 pro max as body cam to stay as light as possible on the go. Also one feature called cinevlog looks really cool to me but cant seem to find mutch video on it did tou try it?
I LOVE your videos Mark, you’ve become my go to for camera reviews, keep up the good work (and it’s Zed not Zee here in the UK too!!)
thanks for the video
Such a great and in-depth review, thank you!
Very nice presentation and very informative which is easily understandable compared to other channels.... Thanks!!🤝
Thank you for the video, very good and clear explanation of both camera features. I owned a Sony ZV-E1.
Really appreciate your subtle sense of humor :)
I've been thinking about updagrading my musical recording gear, and i am new to the online community for camera. all of you are bloody amazing, such a great community and wonderful showcase, there are few things new to me like aps-c or evf, but i still learned a lot. thanks
im leaning towards zv-e1 since i recording in low light, i will have to do something about the over heating.
Keep them coming, Mark!
Clearly I will 🤣🤣
Thanks. You are good at this!!
Best camera channel on CZcams.
The price and overheating of the zv-e1 shocked us at the start, but over time the zv-e1 showed its worth.
I believe this to be true
I actually think the lack of internal fan is a feature, not a defect. For $20, you can buy a Ulanzi external fan, and if it gets noisy or craps out, you can replace it in 10 seconds for $20. The FX-30 is gonna cost ya when that fan gets dog hair/dirt/sand in it. I think over time, we are going to see the fx-30 start to have complaints of overheating as those things build up like in an old laptop fan.
I got a7c ii already..and plan to get zv-e1 very soon.. love them both.. thanks for this review.
This video is really helpful.
I have the zv e1 and love the low light capability and awesome slow mo....even the pictures I take with it look amazing. Still going to pre order the a7cii but if I had to chose 1 easily by a long shot it would be zv e1. Had a74 so kinda know what to expect from a7cii always used the zv e1 more than a74.
very helpful summary! thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice!! Great film!! Well done!!
Very good job! Thanks!
nice comparison 😍😍👏👏
I film outdoors fairly often and as a result I do wish the ZV-E1 had an EVF. Also, the ability to have a more photo-capable camera is a nice thought, however I bought the ZV-E1 and between the image quality, the slo-mo, AI features... I really have no need to make a lateral change which is what this would be. Coming from the ZV-E10 and ZV-1 the ZV-E1 was a MASSIVE upgrade! Thanks for the video!
I can you shoot in sunny day? the screen it is not so bright and it has not the evf.. do you use a hood?
@@fridadeivizsla2729 a cheep clip on hood with some gaffers tape to secure it worked wonders for my previous camera, although i have not tried out the e1 yet🤗🤗
very good analysis.
thx Mark for great review... I already have zv-e10 so, for better photo features I tend to buy A7CII
Great content! As for the stabilization, seems like the active stabilization on the a7cii is fairly close to the dynamic stabilization on the zve1. Would you agree? I am thinking about filming 3-5 sec short clips without a gimbal, but would also want to make sure I won’t run into banding issues when I take photos. Do you think a7cii should be a good choice?
Hey Mark,
Thanks for pumping all these comparison videos. Always good to keep up with the latest Sony cams.
But gotta say, Mark (ZVE1) looks more handsome than Marcus (A7C2)!
ZVE1 continues to surprise me and with the Tilta fan + Tilta half cage + Power Junkie v2 setup, I get enough short and long form. Haven’t seen if shooting with a Ninja 5/5+ external recorder if it can bypass the overheating and good for long form. The Canon R5 was able to do this and shoot for hours but it had that pesty 30min recording limit crippled by Canon as the lame excuse of the tax law has disappeared years ago and Pana and Sony has shown that the past 5yrs+ (me ranting now)!
I would say I will skip the A7C2 (have the A74) and wait and see what the A75 will have.
great video❤🎉
Mark, the screenshot I took of the differences between the two cameras is worth all 2,354 of your words in the video! 😎 Awesome work, thanks for posting!
haha - people come for the words - they stay for the voice
I have both the sony zv-e1 and the a7c (version 1). Obviously the zv-e1 is better, but I think the new a7c ii is really a good offer, if you want a hybrid.
if I had no camera today, I would probably get the a7c ii just for the higher mega pickel count.
Mark. Does your neighbor know your're a famous youtuber or do they think your a weirdo?
both
Now this is a real world camera comparison. I see so many comparison videos where two cameras that have no business being compared to one another are - and in my view - purely for the sake of making new content and getting views. I'm surprised no one has compared the Panasonic GH5 to the ARRI Alexa Mini LF. (just kidding)
The features of these two cameras definitely makes it a challenging choice. For some features, I lean towards the ZV-E1 like the Cine-Vlog (which I can see using) and the extreme low light performance. For the 7K image downsampled to 4K in the A7Cii. The mechanical shutter, which I would use to cover the sensor when switching lenses. Either way, this is a great comparison that invites serious thoughts and considerations.
Very handsome content as usual.
Panasonic GH5 to the ARRI Alexa Mini LF - good idea - will do 😂
Hey mark please answer do you know how to connect an external flash godox tt350s to the Sony zv e10. I NEED HELP. I don’t know anyone besides you that can help me
Great video, thank you! Personally, I prefer the ZV-E1 4k60 footage, looking just better and 'sharper' to my old eyes :)
Doc! Which image do you prefer? For color, DR, highlight rolloff, clarity.
Fantastic video Mark. I am still baffled by the spec set on the a6700 compared to these higher-priced bodies. I feel like I made a great decision with the a6700 and these videos instantly kill my buyer’s remorse panic spells. 😂
It's a bananas value
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I only paid $1200 used for it with the 16-50mm kit lens from B & H. I think someone returned it because they were trying to film a one-take full-length film in 4k 120z and were mad that it overheated. Now they are on back order through the end of October. 🤷♂️😹 #stoleit
Hi, which will the best for northern lights foto and video? It’s enought 12mpx today?
Hi, in terms of sharpness and colors for photos and videos, which one do you think is better?
What parameters should I keep in mind during recording that in post catalyst browse recommends me least amount of crop. Zve10
Difficult choice, mostly because I already do photography with my Canon cams, but are looking for a video body with Sony. Both cams look good for it. But the 4k60 crop feels meh
Waiting for fx30 vs a7cii video, battle of full frame vs apsc
Hye .. can u explain why 1080p from zve1 is sharper than a7cii ? This happen compare to a7iv too in 1080p? Thanks my friend
I have and love the ZV-E1, and one would think that love would create a sense of satiated-contentment... And yet instead, I pre-ordered the A7Cii because I'm a fool and Sony knows it.
Regardless, this video helps me pre-compare them as I'm pre-debating which one to keep. I am looking forward to contrasting the specs, especially in regards to stabilization, as you've done... but with my far less handsome face--that'll be the real test.
Thank you!!
Let us know how it goes!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis will do!
Same Here! Deciding between the two. My ZV E1 is growing on me and I am realizing that I really will gain nothing with the A7c2 other than better thermals.... Dont need the EVF or crop mode and I dont need it for pictures... Will watch to see what you decide, but I dont have overheating issues with my ZV E1 so I really have nothing to gain getting the A7c2...
@@breakfastforyousoul I agree with you on all that... I think I've been pining for the A7Cii for so long (mostly for the 10bit) as my perfect travel camera, and was blindsided by the zve1, that I pre-ordered it almost as a knee jerk reaction... I l will put both through their paces, but I can't imagine a better overall travel cam than the zve1, but we'll see!
You uploaded videos? I will check them right now
What about the 7 stop IBIS vs 5 stop? You did not cover the difference. Who is better active stabilization without the software cropping
Greetings Mark! Thank you for your educational vid here. Can I just ask though whether or not there is a bit of a contradiction? ie the ZV-E1 has the great feature of being able to plug-in to a computer for live streaming purposes but also a strong likelihood of it over-heating while it does?
yes - both are true. Great camera for ease of use streaming, but will likely overheat after about 30 mins of streaming. But if you attack a small Ulanzi fan or any fan to the tripod or camera and point it at the back of the ZV-E1 - it will stream as long as you want. (that's what I do)
brilliant -- thank you, sir@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
Can auto framing be locked for specific face, for example when there are 10 people on stage?
would you review comparixon ZV-E10 and A7c II? thanks in advance
Hey! The best comparison of this 2 cameras by far! Thank You! I don't know what camera is best option for me. I'm worry about heating... by I love de new stabilization of ZVE1(I hate working with high weights...)
What are you shooting? The zv-e1 never overheats on me for what I shoot
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I Shoot always long takes at 4K 24 fps, and shorty takes in slow-motion.
I would try the zv-e1 unless you are always shooting for more than an hour at a time
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank You!
Great video as always Mark. I just bought the ZVE1 and am wondering if there is a fix for the overheating?
set the internal temp to high - keep on a tripod with the screen open. Shoot in 4k 24, 25, or 30. Higher framerates will overheat. Also - ulanzi makes a great fan. amzn.to/3uxegbM
My wife is looking for the best Video Podcasting image possible. She also does a bit of vlogging. I wanted something that did 30fps 4k over USB-C as her primary webcam. Because of the Thermals, the A7CII looks to be what we'll go with.
Good Choice
💯👑
Please compare these to zve10 ,it's my favourite 😊
I’m coming from the ZV1 so the ZVE1 seems like a more seamless transition, but i do need photos for social media as well. Is the ZVe1 camera good enough quality?
Also, appreciate you making all these videos.
I have a Nikon Z30 hybrid camera which is very nice for photos (I prefer Nikon image colour science) but I tell you, everyone who gets the ZVE1, me included, is pretty amazed by the quality of its photos. Unless you are cropping in massively or printing out huge prints it will easily suit your needs.
The photos are actually fantastic. It's only an issue if you want to zoom or crop a lot or print out larger photos
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you for everything. If you ever come to Los Angeles, beers on me 🙌🍻
@@wakeywarrior thank you so much 🤓🤓
A7c2 footages seem to be on the softer side which can be good for some but not for vlogger keeping in mind that ZVe-1 was built for vloggers specifically..
I have an a7siii I use for work. I’m selling my A7iv to downsize my second camera. Having a hard time choosing between the two. ZvE1 has all the features I would love for video, but A7Cii has the megapixels that I would love having after using the A7iv. I’m 70% video, 30% photo.. so I’m torn. Get the A7Cii to makeup for the shortcomings of my a7siii or get a zve1 for the stabilization/built in mic for compact stellar video 😕
So at this point would you recommend the ZV-E1 over Doug (ZV-E10)??
I think an alternative is the Fuji XH2 - 40 Megapixel Stills, 5.76 Million Pixel Viewfinder, up to 8K Video, 4KHQ mode downsampled from 8K, a PASM Dial with 7 Custom Presets, Fuji Color Science & F-Log2, 2 Cards (one CF Express), Pro-Res Options, RAW Output, Full-Size HDMI - cheaper than both the ZV-E1 and A7Cii. But the Sonys are very good in their own way, particularly the AF performance + tracking.
Oh that Fuji is a powerhouse for sure. A more reliable autofocus would make it damn near perfect.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisYeah, if Fuji cleaned up their menus (added touch too) and had reliable AF there would be no point in getting a Sony except for the existing lens ecosystem
do u recommend Sony 11mm with Sony ZV-E1 for travel vlog?
you can do it yes, but you need to do clear image zoom and you cannot use dynamic stabilization
Here we go! I’m in between these two cameras. As I’m sure this is the reason why I came across this video. First off great content, thank you!
What I do is real estate photography/videography. I’d say I’m not a beginner, but definitely a beginner with actual cameras. I went from iPhone to iPhone with osmo to dji pocket 3 to now.
I want to be able to create short videos such as reels but also be able to take still photos for realtors.
I’m heavily leaning towards the a7cii but the dynamic stabilization of the zv-e1 sounds just too good to pass up…
I’d prefer not to have to purchase a ronin for my shots. Hence why I’m going with a lighter camera set up.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The zv-e1 is fantastic. The 12 mp is plenty for most photos and the actual photos are stunning.
I am looking at both of these for the primary purpose of using as my main camera for 4 hour 1080p60 DJ streams on twitch in medium-low light conditions with video monitors and flashing color lights in my background. Would either of these have a significant advantage over the other? Thank you for the video!
yes - the a7c ii is the way to go. The ZV-E1 will likely overheat on you.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisThank you!
Thanks for this great comparison.
Let me ask you, if I got the zve1, a 35mm prime lens with clear image zoom, what mm range does it become?
Thank you.
it will zoom from 35 to about 52.5mm filed of view
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks so much. And everything in between, correct? or is just 35mm and the 52mm? Thanks again.
Hey Mark! Seen a lot of reviews about the ZV-E1, but none of them mentions setting the “Auto Pwr Off Temp”. Did you set that setting to high when doing overheating tests? Believe it or not, my A7iii overheated in 70-90F degree weather before finding that setting.
Damn! I want them both!
me too 😂
We have a7iv and we mainly bought it for travel vlogs however, it is very heavy and shakey of course since there is no stabilization. Adding gimbal is not an option because of the weight of the camera itself so I am looking for other options. I was checking mainly fx30b or a7cii however, this camera now is on my radar too. Too many options!! Which one would you pick, mainly for video? Also what wide lens would you choose to complete the set?
for travel vlogs - definitely the zv-e1. it’s small, lightweight and the dynamic stabilization is awesome. Get the 20mm 1.8 from Sony or the 20mm 2.8 from viltrox. The A7iv does have active stabilization - so make sure you turn that on and your footage will be much smoother.
Thank you! Yes, I turned it on but it gets shakey after holding the camera for awhile anyway and dynamic stabilization is not much help :) I wish there is more affordable option tho, zv-e1 costs almost the same as a7iv. Since it is a new camera, buying it used option is limited too.@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
i need a b cam and the overheat is such a concern. esp in houston where its been 100+ for 2 months. so now my question is a a7cii or fx30?
Do the FX30. The fan will be clutch plus it's a better video camera overall.
👍👍👍
somehow 4k looked sharper out the zve1 to me in this vid. i also dont get why the 1080p is sharper out the zve1
Judging from the 1:35 footage, A7C II seem a LOT sharper, could the difference really be that big? Or is it just the autofocus failing?
Sharper ain’t always better my friend
Hi can u recommend to me I am looking for camera for travelling I love recording but shooting too 50/50 u know so Iam not sure which be good for me pls can u advice to me thank 😊
The A7CII is great for that. Or the a6700 if that is not in the budget
Hey, that dude runs like a lunatic, I like your video.
U r awesome 🎉😂
Maybe highlight area better in zv-e1?🤨
Honestly my biggest 2 issues with the ZV-E1 is the single slot, and the small screen/no evf. Can it output to the ninja 5 to record as a backup? Feel like i see mixed info there.
yes you can record to a ninja v as a backup (or the primary file) while recording to the sd card
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis hmm i see mixed info on zv e1 recording externally
Does the ZV-E1 have a better stabilisation when taking photos at night as well?
the a7cii has better stabilization for photos actually because it has a better IBIS system (the stabilization of the sensor itself) - the ZV-E1 has great video stabilization because of the electronic stabilization
A6700 vs Fuji XS20 pls?
Hello, my English is not very good, do you think alpha zve1 or alpha 7cii is better for filming?
the a7cii I’ll be better for long filming
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you, how about short and teaser videos?

I'm very torn between these two cameras as my first good camera primarily for product videos for my store, but also to be used for family videos at home and on vacation. I've watched both of your ZV-E1 vs A7Cii videos a gazillion times and I'm still torn.
I will primarily be shooting product showcase videos (sometimes on the fly) in less than favorable light as a novice to show off some of the products in the store and would like these videos to look as cinematic as possible (at least for a novice willing to put in some time to learn).
At $2k I'd also like to use this for family vacation and home videos and photos, but do not want to significantly sacrifice the product showcase performance for this.
I am weighing the added still photo qualities of the a7Cii (for family and product photos) vs the low light performance and video features of the ZV-E1. The low light performance is definitely a big concern, which is why I'm only considering full sensor cameras in the $2k range.
Any thoughts on which would be the better camera for my purposes? Can the A7cii hold up to the ZV-E1 in less than favorable light?
Both will work - but I would do the ZV-E1. Being able to switch tho the second base iso of 12,800 is amazing in SLOG3. I would also say that vacation and home videos and photos would be better on the ZV-E1 because of the great stabilization in video - and the photos will look just as good as a A7Cii as long as you're not cropping in a ton or printing posters
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you!!!
Looking to sell my A7 III for the new A7C II plan to shoot photography and CZcams videos. It sounds like this is the best hybrid option in comparison to the ZV-E1?
yes - I would consider the A7C II the best hybrid option for what you want
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for your very insightful video Mark. You’ve earned my sub!
It's decided. Im getting the A7Cii. Since im a hybrid shooter, and I shoot for takes longer than 60 minutes, it makes the most sense (overheating scares me).

Can you add the for connection to the A7CII?
What fan were you using for your ZV-E1
What lens are you using? I was thinking about getting the figma 16mm.
Is Sony working on the overheating issue? Should I just wait a few months to see if they bring something else out for it?

I don't think they'll add that. But if you turn off face detect autofocus, you can get a similar result.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisThanks! I'll keep that in mind when choosing my first Fullframe.
Does ZV-E1 record sound in 240fps 1080P mode?
Up to 120p have sound
This is the best comparison I've seen on these two cameras. Can you test whether there is any difference in bokeh between the two cameras when using high shutter speed (1/4000) and a fast prime lens wide open? Does EFCS on the A7CII have a negative impact on bokeh? Is it smoother in full electronic?
electronic first curtain shutter is fine used with the A7CII. it's only a problem with slow reading sensors - and the A7C II's sensor is plenty fast to avoid and possible problems with the bokeh. So feel safe with the mechanical shutter with the a7cII.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks for the quick reply. Do you have an estimate of at what readout speed bokeh may become an issue with EFCS? The A7CR is a slow read speed in comparison to the A7CII, correct? Does the A7CR suffer from this issue? I recall having the effect on my A7RIII if I'm remembering correctly but I may be thinking of banding issues with off camera flash in EFCS that was the bigger issue.
The Sony engineers told me there's no issue with any with any newer Sony camera (including the a7cr) and the issue only lies in really slow readout speed cameras like Sigma FP. They told me that they have not recommended turning off electronic front curtain shutter in any newer Sony camera even if you have the option. It is only a speed benefit with no ill effects.
The look on the zve1 looks to me much better
zv-e1 has an amazing image
Great video and thanks for the review. My friend got a ZV-E1 and it's constantly over heating. Even at 1080p 8 bit. He's just using as a webcam and keeps shutting off every 15-45 mins. Any tips or ideas? Seems like a deal breaker to me if it can't even stay on as a webcam.
webam and streaming definitely makes the camera overheat. set internal temp to high, open screen and out on a tripod. then get a small fan to blow air on the back of the camera. it’s not ideal, but it won’t overheat as a webcam in that case.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for the quick reply!!! Unfortunately he has done all of those things but refuses to have to buy a fan to cool down a $2200 camera. I'm also assuming Sony will never have a firmware update to address this issue. I advised him to return it and get the A7C2. Hopefully that one performs better.
Yes - they did not design the zv-e1 to have good heat management - So he is better off with another camera.
Sony's camera lineup is pure chaos. There is so much overlap and redundancy between models. And the confusing naming choices don't help much either.
There is a ton!!
I’m really torn between the ZV-E1 and the A7C II. The biggest issue for me is the 12MP vs the 33MP. I want to be able to take my camera on vacations, which would involve a lot of landscape photography and when zooming into the photos I want to be able to see the detail. 12MP just won’t cut it. The flipside is I also want to be able to record video of the vacation as well, and that dynamic stabilization is amazing. If I could have both it would be a no brainer, but that’s just not possible. Perhaps the A7C II with the RS3 Mini would be comparable to the ZV-E1?
The A7Cii stabilization is quite good and it records gyro data so you can always use catalyst browse or gyroflow to give you perfectly smooth footage
For capturing video footage on vacation, I’d say the A7CII is totally up to the job. I don’t have one, but I do have the original A7C and it only really hits limits when you film something faster paced. Ok, I guess if you have kids running around, you would benefit from a fast readout speed. But honestly, even with the A7C that kind of stuff is fine. Not great, but fine.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisiswould you go with a kit lens or get a different lens starting out ?
Unless you’re printing your photos or displaying them on huge screens or cropping your images significantly you won’t see a difference with the megapixel count. I know people who do pro real estate photo and video with an fx3 and the 12MP sensor is never a problem.
A6700 has many of the best features of both of these at 2/3 price. You go APS-C!!
Ehh, the A6700 can't even do 4k60 without crop. No go...
the a6700 does 4k60 with no crop. it has 4k120 at a 1.58 crop
I said MANY. That doesn’t mean ALL. Very different word. 😎
