Seems I’ve had some today but they’ve been deleted thankfully
I thought you gifted me a Sony A1 Camera and five GM lenses....is this gear on the way?
Peak design strap is amazing. It does not only look good, but also feels so smooth in the hands and neck, not rough and sharp like the original strap.
Definitely going to get that monitor setup 🙌
Do you know if the XPERIA supports touch AF tracking? I'm looking for a monitor that does!
This travel compatible second monitor is really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Peak design is my strap system of choice since their first project, the clip system for the strap is really amazing, couldn’t do without now.
Glad you found it interesting! I've been wanting so bad to share it since last July but couldn't find the right opportunity to!
The gaming monitor is a (cough, cough...) game changer! I use my laptop screen at home as my second monitor for file management while I am editing on the big BenQ monitor. Thanks for cluing me in on how to get the same experience out in the field. Optimizing real estate on the laptop is kinda essential for those of whose eyes are getting a little older (which is why I would not know anything about gaming monitors!!) Cheers!!
I just got a Sony A7 iii and your channel has been my guide lately! Good call on the straps
Keep the goodness coming Jason
For camera straps I am a huge fan of the cross body type where the camera slides on the strap. Great video I always like to get new ideas that help me use my Sony more efficiently and effectively.
Love the vid man!
Thank you for this! I discovered new products that would be very helpful for my Set up. Thanks Jason!
The ISDT charger is amazing, though, it's widely unavailable now. It's usb-c, it charges fw and fz batteries, It can fast charge batteries, and the display is awesome. I also love that when it's not plugged in, you can pop a battery in and find out how much charge it has.
Many good tips in your list. Thank you.
When he went to B roll of the screen protector I was about to comment on how nice his nails were. :D
I used a peak design standard plate and attach an anchor on it, and used the Cuff or Leash V1 (its important that its the version 1) on it. Only 1 attach point and it doesn't interfere when rotating the camera and its twice as fast when removing the Leash compared to the Slide
Very informative video on sony gears. A good cage for hybrid shooters would be the Smallrig Half Cage for the A7IV & A7Siii. Since i do like to protect my camera bodies, this cage have made it convenient for me to set the camera down on rough surface without worrying my camera will be scuff. Then attaching the mic or gopro into the cold shoe with ease. And even attaching a monitor mount holder onto the cage allows room for an external monitors while also attaching a handle grip.
loved the ״always practice safe photography" great vid, thanks
😂
Thanks! Very useful
Great video and tips :)
When I saw the article for the Zeiss × Peak Design strap and anchors, you were the first person to come to mind lol.
I need to look more into those monitors...
on the note of straps:
I put some simple "harness clip" thin on the end og the original strap. Easy to remove, no dingling stuff remains on the camera, except that triangle thingy.Way cheaper and easier. My friend has the PD strap. Every time I had to borrow his camera when I needed to film a 4 camera setup. Thad hanging PD stuff made me mad. I cannot imagine using my camera like that.
oh that's smart! that's another layer of freedom shooting!
@@JasonVong yes it is. I'm kind of surprised no "photography hack" video has mentioned it before.
Love your videos! Especially its fun with Vivienne and yourself in the little role play. So great! Yes, peak design strap is a must and agreed with the battery part. Protector is good reminder. Thanks for the great work!
Can you please make an update video on the best micro lens for the E mount (since they’re a couple of new ones) thank you!
3:55 I do agree with the battery part :)
Hey Jason welcome to my town 😆 I live Upstate in Westchester County, but we have some pretty cool towns to see only an hour away hope you get to see them 👋
I own Peak design strap.. Very very comfy, no regrets,!
Just upgraded to a full frame alpha cam, time to use those referral links!
Buying the A7S III in a couple of weeks! Can't wait 😁
omg let me know how it goes. There is a massive shortage right now but if you can pick one up, hold on to it tight!!
@@JasonVong you suck.
Got a third party battery from amazon 6 years ago. Still working just great.
That's awesome man! usually it's a hit or miss with those 3rd party stuff. I had some Wasabi ones that are still kicking to this day! Which brand are you using?
Thanks!
nice tuto. any advise for L-bracket for a7iv and compatibility with peak design arca ?
Yuhuuu good video!!!! Danke schön
nice tips 👌👌
I used 3rd party on my old Canon Cameras but bought Ansmann ones for my XT3 form Amazon ( same one sold at WEX ) and after a few months they start to swell up, then after about a year they swell so much it’s so difficult to get them out of the camera you have to shake them out, not good for any camera so they go in the bin. Now I use Duracell 3rd Party ones with no issues at all.
Hey Jason, what travel tripod do you use? Also, is there a dual camera body strap that you recommend?
I'm going strapless at the moment but that strap looks like a good idea!
YO! JASON! ...Hopefully easy question.
What is the output resolution to the Pro-I phone as a monitor from the Camera?
Welcome to NYC Jason, hope you enjoy the city don't forget to visit times square.
The best camera straps are the ones that stretch. If they stretch you don’t feel the weight on your shoulder etc.
Hey jason.. where i can get the phone clamp you have ?? Please share the link highly appreciated 🙏
Interesting!
I still use the default neck straps, BUT I obtained these snap off ends that allows me to snap off the ends just like that Zeiss strap, lol.
I am ok with this
@Jason Vong oh thank God I almost threw them away .... lol jkjk love you bud 😁😉😬
You didn’t mention an aftermarket L-bracket, in the past I’ve always used RRS, but finding something for the A7iv is elusive. Any leads on an L-bracket for the A7iv?
I travel a lot too. You won’t need this but Gary Friedman’s manual on my computer helps when I’m trying to translate my a1’s menu.
Good ol' Gary!!!
i prefer the clutch over the strap. and a bag when not shooting :)
Where can I get that phone clamp? I want to use my phone as my external monitor for my a7iv when doing video.
On your top handle setup. Will it work with only the Xperia as an external monitor or can it be any other smartphone of similar size?
What lens filters are you using or recommend with Sony lens?
can you use the handle with the Sony eb10 mic as they go in the same place and a monitor at the same time , if no any recommendation on which mic or handle
thank you
I use aftermarket batteries in emergencies. I have 4 Sony batteries, so it isn’t really an issue, but I keep them anyway.
Liked for the Mulan reference.
bro you got nice nails. love it.
I got it from another brand for my 7iv camera, and it's a good protector, but I still have problems with the camera getting hot.
nice. is the a7 iv protector the same as a1? thanks heaps
Question do i have to use slog in order to get the best low light performance on the camera? Do i need to use a picture profile?
Only thing I'll disagree with is buying the Sony batteries. Batteries have become so good now a days you really don't need to worry. I have about 16 PowerExtra batteries and they last about 90% as well as the original Sony. I can get about 1:45-50 minutes with them. Been using them for over a year now with the A7siii for weddings and commercial work and haven't encountered any issues whatsoever. Also you get two batteries and a charger for $50 US. I highly recommend them and won't be spending $80 on one Sony battery.
Yo Jason! What's this Amazon Warehouse pricing that you mentioned? How do you access such deals?
3:40 i dont think that you tried newer batteries. They really improved and even offer more battery life than the regular batteries if you purchase the right one.
I haven't but lemme know which ones offer more battery life and I can definitely try those out!
Hey brother what would you recommend for someone doing both photography and video in terms of a single camera and lens(es) if budget/cost was unlimited?
So far I am thinking either Sony Alpha 1 (A1), Sony A7IV, or A7SIII .
Ignore prices, I looking to buy once/cry once on most versatile camera & lens(es) setup.
---Out of all the gimbals you have ever used in life , which one is your favorite ?? [ IM GETTING AN A74 FOR REF ]. --ty--LOVE YOUR VIDEOS :)
the mulan reference got me to subscribe, thank you lmao
what is that little circle hanging off the side?
How safe is the Newmowa Dual charger? Do you know if it cuts the life of the Sony batteries?
Peak Design is great, but I am always reluctant to use their straps because the metal clips are very likely to scratch the camera body, screen or even the lens.
Great stuff thank you Jason & Vivian
thanks for watching!!
I enjoy your vids! That Zeiss strap is fire!!
Isn't it?! 😍
you got any problem with your SanDisk SSD? seems like lots of people said they lost their files within the drive recently
when the a7siv come out I want it to have a window in the sensor just like a7iv.
Where to find the og Sony phone clamp???
I have a peak design strap, but I still prefer my good ol' black rapid strap.
The strap that’s in the link is not the same as the one you are wearing. Your strap is rare, any links anywhere to buy one?
Hey I want a 135mm , you still diggin the Zeiss Batis f/2.8 OSS ?
I’m building a light lens travel video/photo , live music setup.
Still my go-to tele lens!
LOL I hate those clunky peak design connectors!
I use the tiny strap Sony used to supply with the RX100m5 - it holds your camera to your wrist, without having those clunkers dangling off my camera :D
Get a small rig half cage, Jason! I’ve been paranoid ever since my AC accidentally dropped my last camera because of a loose hot/cold shoe handle hahaha
What I just added was a Peak Design wrist strap to that setup for extra security... JUST INCASE hahaa
That jacket at 7:58 pls let me know what it is!
Do you feel the 128gb is enough for your photo and video throughout the day. I’m always worried. I want to get just one big sd/cfexpress card.
I am so jealous lol I can't even afford the Sony 70-200 and here you are with all the best cameras :) lol Nice video ..
❤❤❤❤
That Zeiss pd strap is rare rare
I know 4k 60 is better for fast motion, but how well does 4k 60 handle low light?
Do you have any concerns about sticking a piece of aluminum in the multi interface hot shoe Sony now uses? With all those tiny contacts in there, I'd worry about shorting out something, or are all those contacts dead until you activate flash mode?
I haven’t used a flash but I am using the SONY digital mic that takes advantage of the MI of the hot shoe and everything is still a-okay! 👌
You coming to NC?
Does the XPERIA support touch AF tracking!? I'm looking for a monitor that does!
If you're asking if the XPERIA can control the focus of the Alpha cameras, then no :( It can do Touch Tracking AF in it's own native camera app though 😅
@@JasonVong That's what I thought. I wish you could output touch tracking AF support to a monitor so you didn't have to use Sony's crappy, small screens.
My strap is a S&W Shield 9mm.
Jason,
Thank you -- love your work. Informative and fun to watch! Can you tell me if you were able to use the A7iv with the Crane M3? I just got both and I can not make the camera fit so that it full rotates (up/down). If you did, any tricks to making it work?
You need a special plate for the a7 IV. Where did you order?
Looks like they are selling this separately now store.zhiyun-tech.com/collections/accessories-for-crane-m3/products/quick-release-plate-for-crane-m3
Thank you for your video!
How do you clean your screen before installing the protector? I‘ve heard that one shouldnt avoid using alcohol/chemicals because off the screen coating.
we just wiped it down with zeiss wipes, let it dry a bit, and use a microfiber to do another wipe down before applying
Great video -- appreciate the recommendations! One minor comment -- when you're cleaning lenses with wipes, NEVER use your finger directly behind the cleaning cloth. If by chance a piece of sand or grit gets between your finger and the lens, you're gonna scratch it. It's better to scrunch up the cleaning cloth and wipe the lens with it. That way if something solid gets in between, there will be much less pressure, and you'll less likely scratch your lens! Enjoy your travels and looking forward to see more! (Oh, my latest accessory is the A74!)
They discontinued that angle I’m so sad. Only have it with the screws no cold shoe 😢
great sharing! thanks
Anyone know the cheapest Xperia phone that will tether to an a7R3?
5:50 tatakae
Can anyone recommend a wireless trigger for the A7R4? Thanks in advance
I just use my smartphone. Works like a charm.
@@coffeeandcameras1 do you have an app that you specifically use?
@@edward8930 I just use Sony’s own Imaging Edge. I’m not sure there are better apps for it out there.
Where did you get that Sony phone clamp?
XPERIA PRO-I came with it
Great video Jason! 😃
Question, does your a7 iv get warm when you go through the menus?
not when I was doing that 52 min setup guide! 🤣
@@JasonVong I sat through that whole video lol thank you for posting that one. It helped a lot!
Cf type A is noticeably faster than the Sony tough G cards. Especially when you are dumping an almost full card 👌
I know 😭 When I borrowed it for some shoots, it's crazy good! but for $400, i don't have a dire need for it yet... Just gonna wait til there's a sale 🛒
Yes I love those cards (mainyl for form factor), but that super fastness is also wonderful. It is worth those 200-400, though it is not easy or very tempting to buy second one XD
I'm buying everything in this video because I don't have a mind of my own! j/k
JV! What camera and lens did you use to shoot the main talking head shot with? Very informative and great video as usual. Be blessed ✝️
A7SIII and 16-35 f2.8 GM!
@@JasonVong Ty!
Okay, now I know why many photographers hate camera straps. I thought it’s was a way to tell who’s pro who’s amateur. lol
I came from the ergonomically sublime Pentax K-1 to the ergonomic disaster that is the A7RIII. Here's what I did to remedy it...
Screen protector (£5)
Silicone skin (these are awesome and cost me £7)
MiniFocus L-bracket/grip (£8.50 used)
Hot shoe mounted thumb rest (£7.30)
Shutter soft release button (£6)
13mm soft rubber eye cup (£12)
Jason do I need a CF express card to shoot 4k 120 fps on A7siii?
nope! I've been doing it with the tough SD cards!
@@JasonVong thanks!
nice video Jason, wouldn't mind hearing what lens filters you use
No filters. Didn't bring NDs either this time 🙈
@@JasonVong do u already have a video on ur filter choice? (cpl) would u also use one for anti scratch or go bear?
