Hi, I have done this work with love for all of you to enjoy all music lovers that time. At no time have made nonprofit. I try not to infringe copyright
How lucky to be of an age that I heard this song back in 1959 and now here we are in 2024 and still loving it.. Great song and beautiful singer and song. Thanks for the memories.
I hope you keep the good taste, same as you, I fell in love with this and many other beautiful songs when I was a kid and I still enjoying them as the first day
@@ChoirWalker wow, yes you are most impressive. Must have made the human journey just for Y.T. since you joined 10 years before your birth! Yep, impressive and you do know good music. Happy trails!
First heard this song when I was 14 and loved it, now at 75 still list it as one of my favourite songs of all time. Exploring Sarah Vaughan's music at 11 years old she led me into jazz music. Thank you Sarah.
That was my experience, too--and same goes for several other Commenters? Light-hearted, soulful and beautiful voice, so unlike singers like Connie Francis of that era. Watching her sing in this video suddenly reminded me of a friend, Carmen Espino, who was shy but always ready to see the funny side of anything.
I've loved this song and her voice for 50 years. Never tire of hearing it, and so happy I have this song on an oldies CD. Thank you Sarah Vaughan. You and your voice are for the ages.
I remember my mum having a cd back in the day and this is one of the songs on it. I can’t remember how old I was prob not a teenager yet but I’m now 36 and this is also one of oldies favourites.
I remember listening to this kind of music when I was just a young 'un. My folks had the greatest era of music to listen to. I really appreciate the opportunity to relive such great music. Thanks from Lindsay On. Canada
I was 15, and an Elvis fan, nuts about Jerry Lee Lewis and all that. A sophisticated black female vocalist was not exactly in my wheelhouse, but I was crazy about this song and readily appreciated "the divine Sarah's" mellifluous vocal skill. I was a Sarah Vaughan fan for the rest of her career.
As a music student , I've studied old jazz performers and music, that music was of higher standard than today's s music, starting from audience, performers, lyrics, dress code, live performing, behavior everything
I'm catching up to you Ken at 64, Aussie. Listened to this on the radio as a kid and loved it forever and always. What a voice and what a classy woman, bless her!
The perfect song for an Autumn afternoon - I feel like going out just to feel the cold wind on my face. Sarah Vaughan's voice was angelical. Thanks a lot lady.
What could be better than gorgeous black girls from the 50s knocking out smash hits in the very best of what is now known as the early R & B genre? Holy smokes! It just gives me the chills, I tell ya'! Miss "Sassy" Sarah was in her mid-30s when this song was recorded. I had tickets to see Sarah around 30 years ago, but as I painfully recall, the concert was cancelled as a consequence to her failing health from a loosing battle against cancer. It was a battle from which she would never recover. She died soon after, and sadly, I was left with only a broken hearted melody...
Don Hill.....I too had tickets to see her at I think the Royal Albert Hall but due to ill health she had to cancel....if I remember correctly the Manhattan transfers took her place....I got a refund but looking back I should have seen them. I too was heartbroken when she passed
It's amazing how much class I had at 11 years of age... this was one of my favorite songs and Sarah Vaughan was just one of my favorite singers. Man I miss turning on the radio and hearing great music.
What a great song.Sarah sings it like it should be sang!!! Beautiful version!!Shes also a very lovely lady!! I get great joy listening to this song. Go Sarah!!!
I fell in love with this woman and her singing lifestyle. I loved her so much that I went out and bought this CD so that I can have this song and listen always to her beautiful singing voice and her other songs she sang. Sarah Vaughn has since passed away now, however she sure did leave a nice musicial impact on my life, I love her! She sure is a beautiful singer.
My Dads favourite song, used to play it on the big wooden record player. Still brings tears to my eyes listening to it. RIP Dad miss and love you so much x
I fell in love with so many things THAT day. That day, as fresh a memory as the day it happened! Her voice, the arrangement, the guitar and OMG the strings! The smooth swing and sway ... to this day it is the one. 💙
I was 9 years of age, and also shocked that she wasn't fond of this song...One of the most melodic and beautiful songs (thanks to her delivery) ever recorded!
LongJohnSilver ~ greetings mate from the high skies 🌌 another lonely soul dipping in great blast of past true soul music 🎼 and what a splash me Sarah is a true jewel 💎
"Broken Hearted Melody" was a popular song written by Hal David and Sherman Edwards. It was recorded by Sarah Vaughan and it became a major hit, reaching No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100 in September 1959 and No. 5 on the R&B charts in October 1959. Sarah Vaughan recorded the song in early 1958, left it for over a year before releasing it around the first of July 1959. It was her first million seller and her first song to receive a Grammy nomination at the Second Annual Grammy Awards for Best Performance By A "Top 40" Artist.
Broken-hearted meelody Once you were our song of love Now you just keep taunting me With the memory of (ba da da) His tender love, oh Broken-hearted melody Must you keep reminding me Of the lips I long to kiss And the love I miss since he went away Night and day they play That broken-hearted melody That he used to sing to me When our love was young and bright As he held me tight Suddenly I found I was out of bound Broken-hearted melody Once you were a song of love Now you just keep taunting me With the memory of (ba da da) His tender love, oh Broken-hearted melody Won't you bring him back to me Sing to him until he hears For when he returns no more will he be A broken-hearted melody Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, oo-oo, ooh Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Everything about yesteryear is better. With the exception of technology and medicine. But everything else especially music music music and more music is so much better wish we could go back
You are absolutely right. We can always think about some other things that could be better (or worse depending upon your opinion) now. We have some freedoms we didn't have then such as in how we dress and what we can say. There is less conformity forced on us. We still don't have freedom of expresson. There is less racism and anti semitism now but it's gone to far with so many informers ready to report the slightest transgression and ready to penalize in the extreme instead of allowing for forgiveness.
Yes. The music. Generally speaking 1959 - 1963 was the best. Look at this song. One of the best ever vocalists singing with superb musicians and a great great song even though she didn't like it. They used to have masters of wordwork who could produce the finest handmade product and had great pride in producing it. Now it's all mass produced without that high quality and pride in producing it but it is so much cheaper. It's like that with the music, I think. No one has ever been able to explain to me the answers to these questions. If the music was so good then as I believe, why is it basically all gone as far as the present is concerned? Why does almost everyone prefer today's music and almost no one is interested in the past? Today's people are no less bright, no less emotional, no less caring aren't they? What's the answer?
Not everything. She was playing to a segregated audience. Perhaps you didn't notice that. Some people don't even care. I guess that's why we die and move out of the way, because we wouldn't want anything to change, even when some people suffer because of our privileges.
How lucky to be of an age that I heard this song back in 1959 and now here we are in 2024 and still loving it.. Great song and beautiful singer and song. Thanks for the memories.
In 1959 I was 12 yrs old and remember hearing this on the radio in the house. Even at 12, I knew it was a fantastic song and still is.
No one sings like this anymore, beautiful, the background music, the harmonies wow.
You are 100 % correct !!!!

Today would have been Sarah's 100th birthday. (27th of March). R.I.P. Sarah
I have long regarded this tune as one of her best, if not her finest. Man, let those impeccable vocals move over and through you. Incredible!
Yes she is Divine .. she is like her own personal instrument... i just love her.. what a gift - Beautifulness ; D
Broken-hearted meelody
Once you were our song of love
Now you just keep taunting me
With the memory of (ba da da)
His tender love, oh
Broken-hearted melody
Must you keep reminding me
Of the lips I long to kiss
And the love I miss since he went away
Night and day they play
That broken-hearted melody
That he used to sing to me
When our love was young and bright
As he held me tight
Suddenly I found
I was out of bound
Broken-hearted melody
Once you were a song of love
Now you just keep taunting me
With the memory of (ba da da)
His tender love, oh
Broken-hearted melody
Won't you bring him back to me
Sing to him until he hears
For when he returns no more will he be
A broken-hearted melody
Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, oo-oo, ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Thank you 🙏
Isn't it "heaven bound"? 😍
