  • When God instructed Peter in a vision to kill and eat animals that were previously considered unclean by Old Testament dietary laws, Peter was perplexed. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul shows how this encounter marks a critical turning point in redemptive history.

11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”

Question Cornelius saw and Angel? Do we have any Idea what the Angel looked like? Movies etc always present them with wings. Ezekiel told of one who looked like a giant wheel. Had eyes all over it. They always say fear not: I wonder if this could be why 2nd Commandment is against making images of anything in heaven? Thank you for these postings of preaching.

What profound ignorance presented here. The God of the Universe created man. He designed man to function according to set immutable physical and spiritual laws, just like the cosmos functions according to immutable laws of physics. God called the children of Israel (not the Jews) out of the world and educated them according to the laws He set in motion for mankind( Deuteronomy 4:7). He designed some plants and animals for food for man, and others not for food for man. The creatures listed in Leviticus 11 simply identify those things God made for human consumption and those not. To think that God just snapped His finger and all the sudden redesigned buzzards, rodents, roaches, termites etc for food is so ridiculous it’s laughable. Acts 10 says absolutely nothing about unclean creatures becoming all the sudden clean. Peter was uncertain what the vision meant(17) at first. By verse 28 God had clarified to him that he was to call no MAN common or unclean. God was opening the preaching of the gospel to the Gentiles, not pronouncing all heretofore unclean creatures now clean for human consumption. Look at Acts 16:20-21. What customs were Paul and Silas teaching these Greeks in Thyatira? Now God is certainly not going to prevent someone from eating crickets, possums or worms. He still gives man free moral agency.
