His deputies killed six people last year in car wrecks alone via texting and driving, talking on the phone and driving, accessing the computer while driving. Let that sink in 4 children and 2 adults were killed by someone that is still employed under Grady Judd and he stood behind those deputies 100%. So I hope he’s not the one that you hope will be the savior

Most of the insane drugs we have today are a direct result of the government’s war on drugs. By making it hard or too costly to bring in one drug and you create the incentive to manufacture synthetic drugs. Without government, the elicit drug trade would not exist to begin with. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m a mother, I can’t imagine the pain. I’m also in recovery. I have 11 years sober. Thank GOD I got out of the horrible disease of addiction. Mental health is very very important but I know what’s missing in this program. What my boyfriend did for a living in Ohio. He was the director of an overdose response team and the director of a recovery program. Fayette County was number 2 in Ohio with overdoses. It’s now down 79.82%. He has won awards for the lives he saved. Since we moved back to Florida almost a year ago, my boyfriend can’t find any programs down here like they had in Ohio. They need to add someone who has suffered from addiction and overcame it. They need to add an overdose response team. They need an excellent grant writer and get a grant for funding and adding an overdose response team. That’s what is missing. When a person is suffering from addiction, they will not relate to cops, or doctors, etc. they relate to people that’s been there done that and overcame it. It shows in studies. We have those studies. Now this is a huge step in the right direction but they’re missing a very crucial part. An overdose response team. And a team that works with people who are suffering and we just arrested.

I had a dual diagnosis which was addiction, as well as PTSD anxiety and bipolar disorder as well. As depression. Now, when I did the self-inflicted bodily harm, trying to end MYSELF And myself only yes I was taken to peace river for 3 days. Then I was taken to jail for a violation Of probation. Because I had contact with police because my fiance called the police first assistants because of my mental break. Now peace river put me on medication. In addition to my anti depression. For the first 3 days I was in there. Then I was tripped for it over to polk county jail guess what I bet you can guess it. I didn't get any medication for almost 2 weeks. Nothing no antidepressant, no moods. Stabilizer, but thanks expected me to be okay in there. And then when I got out 30 days later they would not give me the information on the medication that I was given. So I had to go through the whole process again and try to figure out what I was on. Because guess what it was working. But the jail did not want to release my medical record. So while I will commend him on what he's saying he's doing. Somewhere someone in that jail or the sheriff's department. Whichever one you want to go with dropped the ball as far as helping me with my mental health. What’s your definition of a non violent offender? A 12 time convicted drug user/home burglar k!lled my daughter in law during a botched home burglary. All of his previous convictions were either small amounts of marijuana or meth. He received drug counseling through our local drug court system as well as private health care. He fed his addiction by burglarizing homes during daylight hours where homeowners weren’t home. Because of all this he was classified a non violent offender and therefore his sentences were rather light. This was until he burglarized what he thought was a home where no one was home. However once he entered the home my daughter in law was sleeping upstairs (she worked the night shift as a nurse). He startled her or she startled him and this non violent offender crossed the line and in a second became a violent offender. The real problem is with liberal ideology thinking every criminal is a victim of their upbringing or their addiction issues. The other problem is Republicans like to act tough on crime but they don’t want to raise taxes so we could build more prisons to keep criminals behind bars. I know this for a fact because the man who did this to my daughter in law was released from the county jail due to overcrowding. The sheriff and prosecutors office had to/have to make tough choices everyday to let certain people out (pending future criminal proceedings) because they have to make room for someone who they think is a greater risk to the community.

Not all drug/alcohol addicted people have mental health problems but many mentally ill people have self medicated with drugs and alcohol. With a program like this they can be sorted out and treated appropriately. My son has severe mental health issues but by the grace of God, strong family support (not coddling) and a top psychiatrist he is now 54 and functioning with a family of his own. It took a lot of work and having everyone involved on the same page. Getting this group together, working together instead of piecemeal should set a standard for every county. The people who come out of this program will gain skills of working together to solve problems in their personal lives. This is the first program I have heard of that should work and keep people from “falling through the cracks”🙏❤️
