  • Burton Joyce in 1969 when the roads were much quieter.
Spot Pear Tree Stores which is now the Dentist, the shop at the corner of Lambley Lane which is now the nursery, and the Petrol Station which is now Millfield Close.

Although now in Norfolk, I was born on Criftin Road in the (very) early 40s. Opening shots, of what was Caunt's Pear Tree Stores, Spital's on the corner of Lambley Lane and Peter Thorpe's the Barber. My Mum, Barbara Peters, was Akela of the 1St BJ Cubs for, what seemed like, ever. Anyone remember her or my Aunty Betty Lansdell. So many memories of childhood here and attending the infants' school in the Village Hall and, later, the junior school opposite the small parade of 'new' shops. Barbara Thonger had a pharmacy in a wooden hut on this original site and 'Irene' was a hairdresser in her very large house, which was demolished for the new post office and Jack Brentnalls.

Yes I can remember it well, as I was born in BJ in the 50s and I'm still here.

Hi, Did you know Roger Gale, Mick Bunney or Barry Drake? We were all close mates in the past.

Yes I knew Roger as we both lived on Langham Drive, he is in one of our other videos Parish Council's Centenary Celebrations "part one". I went to BJ School with Barry's sister Marilyn.
