    The only reason used Teslas depreciate rapidly sometimes is because the new ones keep getting cheaper which makes the depreciation irrelevant. If I buy a car for 50k and 5 years later the new price is 25k my trade in is worth a lot less but the new car costs a lot less. If Tesla can lower their prices by 50% over 5 years the rest of the market has to as well or go out of business.

      Except Tesla is mostly focusing on their most premium vehicle, the Cybertruck. If they lower that by 50% it's still over $50k. As for their other vehicles, they're just doing incremental "upgrades." Their next gen vehicles undercutting their current prices, with they also randomly undercuting their current vehicles prices, won't help them in the long run. They'll hit a sales wall again

    I don't see cloth seats necessarily as a downgrade. While not as sophisticated as heated and ventilated seats, cloth seats don't burn skin nor feel wet and clammy in humid environments. And cloth seats don't scratch or suffer from claw marks. And while cloth seats may not be easily wiped clean with a bottle of cleanser, they don't show finger prints, spit, dandruff or dust like vinyl or leatherette. Not that long ago, in the 1970's and 80's velour seats were an extra cost option and were considered desirable in luxury cars. And from an eco standpoint, cloth seats can be made from recycled bottles and perhaps have a lesser impact on the environment.

    • @hibob841
      @hibob841 Před 22 dny +2

      Amen. In my climate, I'll take cloth over leather ("vegan" or otherwise) any day. There was never anything wrong with cloth seats; Americans just became allergic to them at some point. Ventilated cloth seats would be perfection, but those don't seem to exist.

Hopefully Tesla will bring this to America and get in the innovation going plus Tesla is like the only brand that basically only has 2 trims to choose from with their fleet. This is what I have been suggesting all along. There is no need to develop a separate $25k model. With simpler equipment and super efficient manufacturing, slightly lower profit margin? $25k is a real possibility. Why sell it in Mexico only? Lightly equipped model 3/Y is good worldwide.

    • @avgjoe5969
      @avgjoe5969 Před 24 dny

      The new $25k car was to be physically smaller (there are many 3rd world markets where roads are narrow and this would help). So 4 passenger car in a compact package would be ideal. Young adults also tend to favor compact cars like the Golf.
      Trying to sell even a mid size luxury car even at $30k would be problematic.

    While I love ChargePoint, they aren't even close to Tesla. The main problem is their business model - which is to sell equipment to the property owner. Beyond the first year, service is optional and an extra cost to the property owner. So, after the first year, many ChargePoint stalls simply get abandoned. i could typically find this car at around $38k to $40k and specifically having fsd DOES NOT CHANGE THE PRICE you can find it at.
    however, this is not the same as "what is the most i could pay" or "what is the most i could sell it for". i only mean "if you shop around, FSD does not change the price for the buyer"

    Do you think anyone in Mexico cares about heated seats or steering wheel? That would be a show stopped in the Northern US or Canada but in the South or Mexico heated seats are useless. Fabric seats are also more comfortable in hot weather than leatherette seats. Cooled seats are a desirable option in hit climates but if you are trying to save money then cloth is a good alternative. As for that read screen, who thought that was a good idea? It's a waste of money. Passengers in the rear seats already have phones they don't need that screen. An option that Tesla doesn't provide but everyone else does is a WIFI hotspot. A hotspot makes it easier for passengers to use their own tablets

    I love my 2020 Model Y LR, but won't buy a new Tesla until they upgrade some of the amenities that Tesla leaves out. Rather than a downgraded barebones car being of interest, I want a Frunk that can be auto closed, a trunk that will open with a foot gesture if I have my keycard or iPhone on me (so that if I am carrying packages don't have to balance them in my hands or lean them against the car while trying to use the app to open the trunk), some real leather seats, a way to darken the glass in the sky roof when it is really bright outside, and maybe (not as important) a slightly wider seat. It bothers me when I see upgrades to the entertainment system while these functional upgrades are not addressed.
    Also, while working on improving the Autopilot and FSD, the GPS system lags way behind in keeping up with roadway changes, such as states that renumber their exits on major Interstates (More than 3 years ago in New York), change interchanges that require different approaches, etc. If I am buying a premium car, I want to have luxurious premium features.

Perhaps occasionally looking up to take momentary interest in where you are at along your journey or maybe to adjust the temperature, otherwise the interior is meant to provide comfort and safety. Lucid's used inventory is the same as Teslas is the same as Audi or Toyota. Each one is a mystery and it's important to inspect each one carefully to try to get an idea how it was actually treated.
    Also, the Tesla screen being portrait or landscape isn't an indicator of MCU1. Tesla made cars for years (4ish) with a portrait screen layout that were an upgraded MCU2. Just seeing a portrait layout doesn't necessarily mean it's MCU1. Especially since Tesla introduced a path for MCU1 cars to upgrade to MCU2. It's a pretty safe bet to say that MOST (as in more than 50%) cars these days with a portrait layout screen or probably MCU2 by now.
