Loco List;
British Rail Class 08 0-6-0DE, No. 08202
Hope you enjoy!
I was smiling all the way. It seemed so fast. David.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Lovey enjoyed that great video!!!
Many thanks!
Must be the only locomotive you can have on a heritage railway and thrash to the max? And still be below line speed. You have got to love the gronk even if your a steam fan!
Oh yes! Especially when the sound suppressor is removed ;)
Very interesting video, never had one sound like that ever. Wonder why?
The noise surpresor had been removed for repair ;)
Certainly an interesting sound. I'm assuming the throttle is wide open so much due to how low geared these are?
Really was indeed! Yes, found 08's have don't coast like other locos, so need a bit of power to keep them rolling :)
in the yard just past the two rusty wagon chassis there was what once was an engine what loco was that engine from?
Can't picture the one your on about sadly, as there are a few in the yards that come to mind
@@SDJR7F88 if u go to 1:08 in the video u will see it
@@owenslanejunction7544 ah, honestly wouldn't know. Could be from the Sentinel maybe?
@@SDJR7F88 ok
I did notice how fast the 08 yesterday shot out of the station with mixed freight I reckon the driver either believes holding the throttle wide open gives constant speed doesn’t know that u can coast or he likes the sound of the engine lol
It's a bit of both really. Having briefly driven an 08, I was very surprised that it doesn't coast like other locos, guess that might be part of the design for shunting purpose :)
08s don't coast particularly well due to the high levels of resistance in the motors and running gear.
Thanks for the info Martyn!
Sounds a bit like a 37, but I think the Rev up sounds are much more suited to a class 14
We were having a bit of a debate to what sounded the closest ;) Now you mention 14 that I can now hear it! :)
@@SDJR7F88 yeah, saw the mass of comments, haha! Thought I'm in on this action lol. Mainly a 14 when it revs up.
Sounds quite nice like all EE engines! ;) Not quite a 37 though!
Oh yes! We couldn't make up our mind what it sounded closest too. ;) Class 20 without the whistle was another :p
I thought that class 08 didnt sound normal / like an 08 at all!
That the noise surpresor removed for repair ;)
Does kind of sound like a 37!
Really was amazing! Never though 08 sounded so good :)
@@SDJR7F88 well, both 37's and 08's are English Electric products, so it does make sense, but an 08 is the engine I would least expect to sound like a 37!
