to the best of our abilities! We try to answer all questions if a Delivery driver feels lost or confused and we try to help them understand

I was a dispatcher back in Texas and now I’m dispatching at a DSP in Wichita, KS. Yes, it can be boring. Sometimes it’s stressful if your drivers are hard to work with. However I went from one extreme to the other. The DSP in Houston was full of drivers who constantly cut corners and argued with you. It was a headache. The DSP in Kansas is amazing and since I’ve been there (January of this year) we have missed fantastic plus only ONE week. My advice, when you dispatch don’t be afraid to have your drivers help you out there. If you’re lucky like me, the majority of your drivers like helping out after being done and don’t mind going that extra mile. The team is AWESOME!

Been driving a nice blue Amazon Prime van for a year.
Here's some tips for newer folks;
-Don't be a bad employee or good employee. Stay under the radar and get your route done quickly.
- Don't waste your time turning your van on and off. Drop your window just far enough in the event the door accidentally locks, you can reach in and unlock it. Only remove keys when delivering to apartments. The time saved will be noticeable.
- Keep your packages in the front seat even though you're not supposed to. The post office does this too. Keep those packages somewhat organized and within reach and have your next package ready BEFORE you get to the stop. Don't park and then look for it.
- Maintain an 850 FICO score and your DSP will most likely not care about the van being turned off issue as DSPs are rated for overall team Fico scores by Amazon. Although Engine offs and Seatbelts are factored in to your metric; maintaining a high Fico score will drown out the cut corners on seatbelts and engine offs. This goes back to staying under the radar. 😏
- Scan the package in the geofence as your walking up to the property and have the camera ready to go BEFORE you reach the front door. Ring the door and bounce. Do NOT wait for someone to answer. Use Covid to your advantage to deliver quickly and maintain your distance. 🏃♂️
- When delivering to businesses, don't worry about a signature. Select "Receptionist" and type Front Desk or Receptionist. Or if you deliver there often, select that the customer received it even if the Receptionist took it.
Bottom line, don't make this job harder than it is. You're delivering packages.

Being a dispatcher seems like a cool job , but being honest I prefer to be out on the road delivering I enjoy working hard and feel it’s rewarding to myself, also I enjoy seeing the customers smiles when they receive their packages, I’ve been really lucky so far and haven’t had any issues with Dogs or customers, I’m sure it’ll happen eventually but for now I’ll be happy with the luck. It helps that my DSP is amazing and not to hard on everyone as long as we are Delivering our packages on time my Dispatcher leaves us be although they do call and check up on us to see if everything is okay and there’s no issues, the Main thing they are strict about is Driving scores and we are reminded and warned to always take the Keys to the Van with us, never leave a Van running unattended and do not under any circumstances lock yourself out of the vehicle, had a Team member as I like to address my Coworkers lock himself out and they Fired him . And I’ll end this by saying to the other drivers out there, stay safe and keep being awesome. Sending good vibes and the wish for everyone’s 2023 to be the best one for you.
Yes dude same. I got asked to be a closing dispatcher a few months back but I turned it down because I love delivering.

I am so jealous lol I wish our DSP had the bag where everything was ready for you. Instead, us drivers at the DSP I drive at bombard dispatch when they pull up and make multiple lines. One line for tablet to see our route if we have one, one Line for keys and one for rabbits. Also I wish our DSP had numbered areas for our vans too. At least half of them are missing the numbered placard that is on it so if I get one of those I hope the remote for the unlock button works lol if not, I'm going door to door to see which van it unlocks lol.

I’ve only been driving a Year, a small little Ford Fiesta. First time driving a big van was on Monday, & to be honest, it’s a lot easier than driving my little car hah!

Y’all do your drivers good. My dsp just got rid of the 4/5 prime vans we had. All we have now are white vans.
I was just recognized as a top driver 😏💅🏽 with like close to or 100% everything for the past 6 weeks 🤷🏽♂️. They gave me a drawstring back with some “goodies” inside. Lol. Like some Prime socks a fisherman’s hat a water bottle 🤦🏽♂️. And I still get to drive the shtty vans. Lol. I personally like driving the white vans over the prime ones anyways but I like the white vans with the backup camera in the mirror it’s a more clearer picture than the ones in the dash.

I got you! Haha so if the area looks pretty safe. Meaning it looks like a nice neighborhood and there’s not people hanging around then it’s fine to leave it. If there people hanging around and you feel like it can get stolen then you can mark it as “no safe location”. Also if the notes say, do not leave un attended then you can call the costumer to see if they want it left at the front door 😁😁😁

We assign a van to a driver and that's their van and only their van.Not for that day but for their time of employment
Your vans are really nice and cleaned !!! Ours are all dirty and what not. Tired pressure on and its just a bad dsp in my opinion.
Haha we try our best! We are getting them washed and detailed once a month. Yeah. Alll dsps are different. Some have bad management and others are great.

Question, how does mentor look when a driver puts the phone on silent/airplane mode? I just started and drivers are always saying they do that.
The reason they do that is because sometimes if you receive notifications it can make your phone as manipulation. Which is dumb. Mentor still detects everyone even if they do that.

Phones yes! And portable charges. No lol are rabbits last quite a while. So they don’t use the portable charges all the time. But I check them. I’d they need charging I charge them 👍🏼

I'm a Driver but I always wondered do dispatchers make more than drivers also I seen dispatchers so drive accasionally.
Depends on the dsp, but I’d say yes. A small raise and depending on the dsp how their schedule works. Our dispatchers come in before the drivers and don’t leave until the last drivers parks the van and they put everything away

How many stops do you have to average an hour? How many stops do people have to do to get ahead?
A good number is 25 stops an hour, but some dsps demand more. Just depends on how much you have. Each day is different and you always get different amounts of packages 📦 some people have gone up to 40 stops an hour that’s extremely good

I’d ask your dsp if there is a spot available. Usually it goes to the people who show good work and that they have knowledge of the delivery job. I was picked as a dispatcher cause they liked my work. But all DSPs have different standard on what they want. I’d ask them what would you need to do to land a job as a dispatcher
From a Drivers Perspective I think that Amazon asks for a little too much and so do the Dispatchers very often. They want you to 100% perfectly deliver, they want you to try all neighbours and also call the customer. This is all costing time and with 220-260 Packages a Day you simply don't have that time because many customers just take a long time to open the door, never answer their phones, have it on auto-mailbox, neighbours don't want to accept packages, they rarely make the effort do go down 1 step of the stairs and let you run all the way which is also a huge waste of time. Mind you I don't deliver in the US, I deliver in Germany in a high-density area where more than 95% of Buildings are +4 Floors and near all customers live on the top floor. Just yesterday I had to carry 5x ~10kg packages up to 7th floor with elevator out of function, this cost me a lot of time and the Dispatcher didn't really care - neither did the Driver Support or Amazon generally. But you are still the one getting blamed and replaced if you don't meet their wished for numbers.
And before you may say I just have to be quicker etc. I mostly deliver close to City Center and manage my 25-30 Stops an hour with 2-3 Concessions a month.

Ohh 😲 gooood luck!!! 😁😁😁 and that’s the best part! Haha the only time you really talk to people is when you get to work to pick up your van and when you come back to park the van. You sometimes have to call the customer to clear some things out, but it’s not so often. Lol no where near like a customer service job.
Can you tell me where you guys bought those bags? Looking for heavy duty bags that don't rip and get dirty.
The totes? The delivery station provides that for you. :)

Hi Juan, I am looking into starting a dsp and as of right now I’m doing calculations and I have a question. The role 2 and role 1, does amazon pay the salaries of the dispatchers/dispatcher or does the dsp.
Dsp pays all their workers. You basically only get paid for what you deliver as a dsp from my understanding.
@@IAmTheJuanAndOnly when new, from your experience can one dispatcher cover both roles while having someone at a office working as a manager to oversee the operation?
Another question (last for now Juan promise!) Can amazon provide drivers and or dispatchers (as in having a system where it’s easier to facilitate dsp’s) or does the dsp have to source all the drivers themselves?
When you first start off you should be able to have one dispatcher be able to cover. Usually when you start a fresh dsp, you’d start with around 5 routes or so. As you grow you’d probably need at least two.
And I don’t think Amazon helps you with dispatcher or drivers, you’d have to source that yourself.

Yeah. So Amazon creates the route. According to drivers the better you do and the faster you go the more packages you get.

Dispatcher? Usually you have to start off as a driver but I think you can try Amazon dispatcher

How do you keep up with damage and service on the vans?
We have a maintenance team. We mark down vans that need repairs or tires and they take care of it

I have customer service experience but no dispatch experience
Usually it’s you start as a driver and work your way up to dispatch. You gotta know your stuff. You’ll be guiding people on what to do if they are on the road. You can’t really do that unless you’ve delivered before.

Haha, I just got to the part about the driver locking the keys in the van. I did that on my first stop on my first day. Another reason I hate the Mercedes vans. They are the only ones we have that lock automatically.
Lol yeah but they are push to start. So I just wear the key around my neck 👌🏼
@@IAmTheJuanAndOnly We don't have anything fancy like that, but I will bring it up to the manager to mess with him. We can't even get vests or hats. They just did a contest so the top person could get a hat and vest. But we get paid better than other DSPs so its a trade off. I'm still wearing jeans or shorts and random tee shirts with a yellow reflector vest.

So does the driver have to rent the van from Amazon or do they get to use the van for free and just get paid hourly?
The driver pays nothing to Amazon. So you use the van and get paid for using it

That’s usually all you need. Usually you can just find the it on indeed. Look up delivery driver. Or Amazon delivery

You can be a DSP dispatcher. But usually they have you drive first then move up to dispatcher. Amazon doesn’t deliver their own packages they use dsps

The higher ups liked my personality and liked that I worked and never complained. And so they asked me one day and I said sure 👍🏼 lol

Not really, I’d you have a driver manager they should be the ones in charge, if not then your dsp manager. But the ones who assign routes to the drivers is amazon. All the dsp does is pass it on from Amazon to the drivers, but they have the power to change the routes to other driver. For example if a driver doesn’t show up then they can give it to a different driver l.
What DSP is that I’ve seen that logo around in the garland warehouse before my dsp moved to ddx6 in frisco

Yes I like it a lot new routes. And we even have a snack shack for all drivers. They are new so we have a little problems here and there but other than that it’s running pretty smoothly

For me it was. You’re just supervising the drivers and making sure they are doing good.

It's not just a pain in the butt there's already not enough time to take a break and go pee granted I'm very new but normally I'm fast and efficient at every job I do but you want us to turn the van off pull the emergency brake take her seat belt off then do the delivery take the picture text the next customer saying we're on our way get back in the van put our seat belt on take the emergency brake off start the van that eats up too much time

25 is a good number :) but it varies when you have apartments.
@@IAmTheJuanAndOnly 🤯 I do 40 -45 the first hour and 30-35 the rest of the day, that includes apartments and businesses, I thought I was slow because when I return most of the drivers are back, I make 210 stops in 6 hours or 7.
