    That just unfortunate for the previous owner and yourself that have to go through all of those pains. I got my F80 used that has 92Km on it two years ago and all I have done to it just 2 oil changed, spark plugs was done last week and all air filters also been replaced last weekend. I own a 2015 M3 with 45K miles. The only issue I had was a failed diff, it was replaced under warranty but the installation was botched by a dealer...another dealer documented the corrective action....I have done my own maintenance since the warranty expiration.....NOTHING ELSE FAILED !.... my advice is find an independent you can trust....or flush your money into a BMW dealership. Or do it yourself....help me diy is an excellent source of information.

  • @ShockwavesFTW
    @ShockwavesFTW Před 3 lety +6

    This was a good video, but the $1500 for 50,000 mile maintenance price tag is really misleading. It's way more useful to know how much the regular maintenance items would cost out of warranty, since most used buyers aren't getting a CPO or warranty car.

  • @billymania11
    @billymania11 Před 3 lety +15

    The biggest danger is tunes. BMW configures the engine management computer to provide a margin of safety and reliability around engine performance. The tuners go in and basically remove those margins and increase boost, decrease knock sensitivity and play around with engine timing. You get more power but the trade-off is that the engine is less reliable and needs more frequent service and repair. The prior owners are never forthcoming about running these tunes and possibly you end up with a BMW M car with a tired and worn powerplant. The smart move is to buy new.

    I have an M4 with a Dinen Stage 2 kit. I have only the most minor issues that BMW took care of no questions or issues. My guess is you bought a car from someone that doesn't know how to care for a car, drove it like a 16 year old, etc. I love the car, it's fast as ^%$(, and beautiful. I had WAY more issues on my Mercedes CL 55AMG!

It’s sad that so many people have issues with these cars. Bmw should probably go up in displacement that would be much more reliable

      @Julio Mac You think a 4 series is unique? Dude nobody is looking it's not a 7 series it's a basic car that's got about as much attention to detail as a jetta. As for interior it's a basic leather interior which will not hold up I see plenty of mustangs running reliably from the 80s where are all the 80's bimmers? Why are they so rare to see running? They're in the junklyard because they were never built to last, they're throw away cars. FYI the m4 is not that much faster it's downright sluggish for the price.
