An extensive work for fans of the Queen Mary's Dolls' House.. www.ottini.eu/e... Un lungo lavoro per gli appassionati della Queen Mary's Dolls' House.. www.ottini.eu/r...
My grandad A.R Dunn was commissioned to make some marqueterie furniture for this house. The furniture that was not chosen was saved and given to us grandchildren for our own house which also had water and lighting
Really?!? WOW! Second person in the comments section to have a direct relative connected to this incredible piece of history, thank you for sharing that and good on you for keeping your family's history and pride alive :-)
Thank you for sharing that information about your 3 great grandfather. What I think is great is that you took the time to know your family and the stories of memories. I wish more people could see the importance in details like you have shared here. Some might say silly things however each piece of this mini doll house played a part in the time, work, and the tinnest details. For me wouldn't it be a dream to own that, and the history with all the peoples names to who handcrafted each detailed art piece. Your grandfather's mini work of artific is outstanding along with the area artist's handcrafted mini pieces.
The consigned artists that created each piece were fabulous in their professional miniature artistry. I'm always in awe of the meticulous details that created such a masterpiece, beyond craftsmanship. Just beautiful. There was a huge dollhouse, prior to this one that has a light and accessible water wherever there was a faucet. Magnificent!
When I first heard about Queen Mary's Doll House, I couldn't believe this magnificent piece of art actually has running water and working elevators. Its just mind boggling even for a guy who has nothing to do with dolls.
I know, i first read about it when i was kid in the 80's. Being a car guy (and into miniatures) the cars are by far my favorite part. They actually run.
darcy mimetz from what i read, yes www.bostonglobe.com/ideas/2014/08/22/queen-mary-dollhouse-and-fascination-miniature-objects/U82Ku63IQ0nLqC6GcwYpBI/story.html
As a miniaturist (we're not all into dolls either, btw) I love it as a work of art, but what I still find sad is that the Queen's dollhouse had running water & its own plumbed-in toilets at a time when many of her subjects still shared outdoor unplumbed outhouses, communal 'steamie' laundries or public bathhouses.
Thanks so much. That was adorable. Do you know if Queen Mary's Dolls' House has a dollhouse? Slightly crazy question I know. I can see a theatre in the nursery but no doll house. I am writing a book of 1:6 DIY furniture designs. I remember reading that the omission of dolls was deliberate-because the makers did not wish to represent the Royal Family as dolls.
We all r drawn 2 miniature things I think esp as finely as these r done. Plus it gives u glimpse in 2 the past of what the furniture mite hav looked like. Or items they fancied
I love this doll house! When I went to see it I was the only one there (except, of course the guard) I tried to get him to let me get closer but of course he wouldn’t! Rats!
Running water , working lifts , AND working electrical . I have had nothing to do in my life with dolls but may I say JESUS ! QUEEN MARY HAD SOME GOOD F****** TASTE IN IN M************ DOLL HOUSES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I right or what ?
@MissGracieLove No, I do not think that the objects are glued. I have a book where some objects are photographed in detail and, therefore, I believe that every object can be moved.
Since my fantasy of Queen Mary quietly making herself some dolls to actually play in this house is set in the past and provably untrue, I will now fantasise about some very fancy rats being given the run of this place in the future. With all that effort and closework-blinded embroiderers someone needs to play with it!
She was married to King George V. She was originally a Danish princess and became mother to King Edward V111, who abdicated in 1036 and became the Duke of Windsor. His brother the Duke of York then became King George V1, and was father to our Queen Elizabeth ll.
I was watching a video of this doll's house before and I watched a video of It's A Small World before that and I was thinking that you could play that song over either of these videos
@VideoExpostulations Tiny drops of water come out the taps and Lutyens is know to have taken pleasure in explaing the plumbing to Queen Mary. Have a nice day!
William Harper do you and you granny believe every piece of tripe your told! Who was this person who gave your granny this piece of information, was it miss marple by any chance? .
Big deal. My father designed and built our home and he then built a scale model of it (including furniture) for me to play with. It was passed down in the family and how is played with by yet another generation of girls.

This is a concert of Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K. 453: allegretto. Have a nice day.

This is probably the most incredible thing I've ever seen in the way of dollhouses. I can't even begin to imagine how much that thing would be worth.
fascinating... and even more is to think Queen Mary's own eyes gazed upon this ت
Absolutely fantastic tour. Thank you!
I've been to see it to get some inspiration for my Victorian house. I'd love to go again.
a masterpiece of skills & hardwork to empress the queen
Arietty would love this

Amazing
I had a book about this dollhouse once, and with your pictures it's the same--Out of context, this would be mistaken for a real house. WOW.
We all r drawn 2 miniature things I think esp as finely as these r done. Plus it gives u glimpse in 2 the past of what the furniture mite hav looked like. Or items they fancied
I've heard that the wine bottles in the wine cellar have real wine in them!
thats the PEOPLES wine>:(((
What's that gorgeous music, Mozart?
I love this doll house! When I went to see it I was the only one there (except, of course the guard) I tried to get him to let me get closer but of course he wouldn’t! Rats!

Anyone know what the room at 5:18 is??
+darcy mimetz Hi this is the treasure room of the British crown.
@faery34 Thanks! Good weekend to you too!
No, I do not think that the Queen had dolls for this magnificent dolls house. I suppose she was satisfied in admiring such magnificence!

who's the author of the background musical composition? many thanks
Which Queen Mary? There were so many!! Who was her husband? Who were her parents?
The queen Mary that they are talking about is her Majesty The Queens grandmother.
She was married to King George V. She was originally a Danish princess and became mother to King Edward V111, who abdicated in 1036 and became the Duke of Windsor. His brother the Duke of York then became King George V1, and was father to our Queen Elizabeth ll.
Sorry..a typo. He abdicated in 1936, not 1036!!
@@normasouthwood3182 Queen Mary wasn't Danish; that was her mother-in-law, Queen Alexandra.
@@andrewthornhill7042 of course! Silly me. I was getting mixed up.
I recently purchased a dollhouse from the UK.The Windsor dollhouse.,and would like to see one (to get some ideas) anyone know where?🏠
@MissGracieLove I do not think anyone could get close!
In Windsor? I saw it

When was that vid made?
I was watching a video of this doll's house before and I watched a video of It's A Small World before that and I was thinking that you could play that song over either of these videos
I WANT THAT DOLL HOUSE . wish I had enough money though. Everything in there like Ron would say in Harry Potter is BLOODY HELL AMAZING!😱😱
A pity there are no dolls to enjoy all this luxury!
i can live there if i my size went down to 1:12!. so freaking detailed. it's even grander than a real mansion.
Did the queen had doll's to play in it ? PLZ REAPlY !!
AmericanGirle Chloe she probably did this is so amazing
i always fantasized about a dollhouse being made wit running water and plumbing.

Is dat house ook in Dublin?
Geweldig mooi

Indeed there is not a doll's house in the day nursery. Good luck on your book!
No dialogue.

William Harper do you and you granny believe every piece of tripe your told! Who was this person who gave your granny this piece of information, was it miss marple by any chance? .
Not much detail here. Scarcely in focus. These are old photos taken from a book. Modern HD pictures would be good.
Big deal. My father designed and built our home and he then built a scale model of it (including furniture) for me to play with. It was passed down in the family and how is played with by yet another generation of girls.

Definition of privilege. Would be sweet to see someone shred it with a fingerboard, actually get some use out of it.
