Agreed. I've watched three videos trying to make sure I understand her thoroughly before I pull, and this was I felt the easiest to absorb confidently.
I do believe Kafka is going to be an interesting character, not only she is getting the Damage over Time mechanic, but we gotta respect Owlbert's words by calling us out for our thirsty behavior.
She was made for us to Thirst.
I mean sure we're all looking forward to Kafka here for... Reasons... But to be fair to the other Nihility characters, there's nothing overly unique about her kit. It's more specific to her of course but imo doesn't render other options void. Still might end up being wrong though, these are the kinds of things we'll never really know until we get her
She’s also going to age well they will never stop releasing occasional dot units so she will get better better over time

Kafka is like the “Crit” of DoT teams, triggering the DoT extra times is the same as the DoT critting.

you need e1-2 for her to be what everyone wants her to be a "DOT support"

Himeko needs a lot of effect hit rate
Himeko has a 50% base chance for burn, and y’all know how painful 50/50s can be
I'm the same, I already prefarmed her and have my Himeko built up. as for the 50/50 comment above, it doesn't matter I believe RNJesus would favor us.
1. Himeko and Kafka have close to no synergy together. Himeko's DoT is minuscule and is terrible enabling from Kafka + himeko builds Crit.
2. It's not a 50/50, it's a 50% base chance, without EHR it'll be a 35% chance against the average 30% resist enemy.
3. Not saying that you can't play your OTP. Just that it's a really not a good team for neither of them

I was really trying to figure out DoT mechanics but man the information out there is really hard to find right now, and as a sampo main with 90 wishes saved up for luka, I desperately needed this guide haha. This was such a well thought-out and detailed video, it just helped me understand what feels like 100 things about DoT that I couldn't wrap my head around before. Sampo was my first character I pulled and I’ve loved Nihility and dots in this game ever since. I’m so excited for Kafka
Probably the best informational video so far on HSR. I’ve seen all Sampo and Kafka videos and anything DoT related. I have a pretty good grasp on the subject even the Normal and Break DoTs. But I can’t say this enough, that this is probably the most educational video not just on DoTs but on HSR logic I’ve ever seen.
It frames it in a perfect way that it can cater to all player types from hardcore and even casuals. i dont know how to thank you, i've been searching for a video like this for many time, i havent any idea that break effect only afected damage dealt by weakness break, thats why my silver wolf was built wrong, i had put only break effect on her. thank you very much
Small note that not everyone knows regarding the physical dot
The dmg cap on the physical break works ONLY on the dmg that occurs when you break the physical weakness , it doesnt apply on the Physical DoT itself .

There are a certain content creator who cleared with sampo on moc 10 with 4* but cracked sets. It was a breeze for him. So I’d say that sampo is more than enough
Ive been using Sampo since launch. Hes still great without Kafka (A tier at best) but I believe Kafka would help elevate him being meta
So excited for Kafka! I've been playing DoT since the game came out, and she's gonna be the last piece i need to bring my team from good to great.
4:38 that makes so much sense! i always wondered why i sometimes was able to see two stacks of wind shear on enemies when I hit with sampo but other times when I try to do it, it doesn't work.

universal damage bonuses seem to not always apply to DoTs, like with the lightcone that was used as example 'good night and sleep well', it specifically states that it applies to DoTs, which not all % increases say
I quit after playing for a bit, heard Kafka was running soon n came back to farm. I saw her in the first cutscene n wanted her in my team - now have 80 pulls and 40 pity. Hope I'll get her

Got introduced to a DoT team recently for SU against Svarog…
Have since been building up my Sampo because I want ti see how DoT teams will operate outside of SU AND see if it’ll be a viable way to me to continue to reach more endgame content!
It also helps I just unlocked Sampo’s E1 as well! Gonna he going HAM to get Kafka (though I’m a little bit bummed out that her pre-Beta ability to apply DoT weakness got removed… still excited for her though!
Been using the nihility path in SU and while I know it won't be as broken as that DOT has a ton of potential in the future.
But kafka can make it even better😁

@@gloomgem5307 she will forever be good since her damage come from other unit (and a lil bit from her) for exemple if in patch 2.0 a 5 star dot char release and he does really high dot damage then she will deal even more damage so don't worry about that, she's almost future proof like silverwolf in her category
Don't have Sampo and probably wouldn't build him even if I did, don't enjoy when skills are rng. With that said I'm still rolling for Kafka, was hoping to play her together with Serval but from what I've heard that's unnecessary now because Kafka can put shock on her enemies by herself. So now I'm not really sure who to put her together with.
I have been playing DoT teams since the start of the game and it is very satisfying

So, does having a high speed stat is kinda bad dot units?
Considering if I don't have Kafka that can trigger dot damage when she attacks, I have to wait until the enemy turn for the dot to trigger..

About the debuffs in general, is it advised to invest only in EHR if the character's kit clearly has that text part "this x attack has an xx% chance to inflict zz debuff"?
I am wondering if, for example, March's counter talent has a chance to inflict Freeze on a target without breaking its Toughness gauge. Thanks.

some of them think Effect hit rate better, while some said focusing on break effect is much better for dot characters.

The amount of thinking that goes into builds in star rail is so far beyond genshin 😭 it makes me so confused but this video was very informative!
Very helpful and informative video. I didn’t know the difference between normal DoT and break DoT until I watched this video. There’s one thing I want to clarify for character build just for reference: so for Kafka the relics should be 4pcs lightning set with Atk% chest, atk%/spd boots, lightning bonus sphere and atk% link rope would do just fine? Also for Sampo, Luka and Serval, which one is better: ehr or atk%?

I was planning to run Kafka, Servant and Sampo with a defensive or healer but I want to ask if Luka might be better than Sampo seeing as I have neither and will probably get an ex of both.
so if i want to increase the DoT damage from my characters i need to build my character with break effects and any Elemental boost Dmg is that right or i get it wrong😅
This guide is really good but that gameplay of nihility path is insane thats why i started playing DoT because of the colorful effects but also the dmg is insane i cant wait for kafka.

i would like to point out that the normal dot which is innate to a certain character stacks with other characters dots of the same type, currently you can only do this with burn. So you can have Astas Burn, Hooks Burn and Himekos Burn active on the same enemy at the same time. Which also means that you should be able to run servals shock together with kafkas shock aswell.
Hello! I was looking at the abilities of both Kafka and Serval and noticed that both of them describe the damage of Shock differently. If I build a team with both Kafka and Serval will an enemy with the Shock debuff take both instances of damage or will Shock only apply one?
