NORTH BARRIE
1.Age & Price Point
The North end of Barrie was developed before the South end in the early days, and because of this you are more likely to come across older homes in the North end (by about 15-35 years), which is great for many due to the fact that the entry price point for homes and townhouses in the North end is lower compared to the South.
2.Mature Neighbourhoods
Having been developed first, North Barrie has more established commercial areas and strips with well known amenities and independent businesses. Georgian mall and Bayfield mall are both located in the North end, whereas the South does not have any large indoor malls.
3.Investment Opportunities
Continuing with its geographic location, North Barrie is built around Georgian College and the Royal Victoria Hospital, making it a favoured place to invest in for real estate investors, students and health care professionals.
SOUTH BARRIE
1.New Development
There is an amazing amount of new development happening in South Barrie, seeing as the North end has more or less hit the city borders. All this new development brings exciting new opportunities and future growth for certain neighbourhoods. One very important factor to consider is the commuting and logistics with so many new residents set to move in - but not enough expansion for the roads or accessways.
2.Parks/Recreation
North Barrie has 8 parks, whereas the South end has 14. These parks were built into the communities and neighborhoods so if having a home is important to your lifestyle, South Barrie has some great options for you.
3.Commercial Expansion
As mentioned before, although South Barrie does not have a large indoor shopping mall such as Georgian mall, they have Park Place - which is a huge commercial development that is built, and is continuing to grow with large and small businesses moving in. In addition to that, South Barrie is located closer to the GTA, Newmarket, Vaughn and the other southern regions, so if you commute to work in the city everyday, living in South Barrie saves you some time on your commute.
