From jobs started and not finished to jobs where Scott takes a deposit but never starts the work, one thing is consistent: Brooks bails on his clients when the going gets tough.
$82,000 was 50% of what the work would cost?😳 That already sounds like a scam. Kudos to this family for getting the law involved because $82,000 would have me contemplating whether or not I could handle prison.
I agree. It blows my mind how these scumbags can openly steal from honest people and then just shrug their shoulders and say "Talk to my attorney". If you rob someone of $100 on the street, you could face significant jail time. However, if you get a contractor's license, a lawyer and defraud clients, you might walk away without severe consequences.

Licensing is really not the relevant point here. The government's imprimatur is what you're looking for? I could care less if my contractor/electrician/plumber is licensed: I care if they're good. If multiple friends/acquaintances have used them in the past and have been happy with the result, that works for me.
@@davidjones-vx9ju I don't know. Not _that_ many. We needed a bunch of work done when we bought our house a few years ago, so we were hiring a roofer, an electrician, a plumber, an inspector, someone to install central air, a floor guy, as well as a general contractor for a bunch of other stuff (e.g. painting, reinforcing the deck, fixing the ceiling, and a bunch of other stuff). A year or two later we had to get some work done, including putting in a new deck, after a 60 foot tree fell on my house.
