This arm waving method is a dying art (at some airports). Last time I was in Toronto they had some kind of computer system they used on the larger planes....there was a marshall on the ground, but he had some kind of device he was pushing buttons to guide the plane in. Also, I think most of the newer planes have cameras on the front wheels and the pilot can see how they are tracking from the screen in the cockpit. Or maybe I am imagining all of this.
There is one technology, but u need mashalls, this technology is present on some very bush airports buy they need Marshalls to still monitor, so atleast they won't be unemployed
Who teaches the Marshaller to tell the aircraft to turn towards the gate! Instead of showing the pilot the lead line! Hes going to turn no matter what! Then this person parks the aircraft on an angle!
The aircraft can move wherever it wants but the Aerobriddge can't. So if there is London new York flight it has to be same at both destinations. A pilot might be travelling to so many countries within a month. If every country had different signals wouldn't it be a crazy cause of confusion for the pilots

Some countries have a specialized training for this course.

Airlines don't have different hand signals. Its the same for all people around the world
