- This movie tells the story of Alex Waller, a driven fly angler pursuing his dream of meshing the sport he loves with the necessity of making a living. He travels around New Zealand documenting his fly fishing lifestyle on CZcams to a growing audience. There's a lot to admire in someone who actions what a lot of us talk about doing but never do. A special film for me, as I subscribe to your and Alex's CZcams channel.
Alex's videos inspired me to prepare a fly fishing holiday in New Zealand a good 3 1/2 years ago.
It worked out in January 23, my son Raphael and I were able to experience magnificent moments.
I will never forget the moments on and in the water with these incredible trout. The 3 days with Hans Kreuer on the West Coast were also great.
I can only congratulate you on this film and I look forward to your next project.

Excellent work, mate. This captures much of the essence of fly fishing beyond the self imposed boundaries we burden ourselves with. Days on the river are fleeting, and numbered. The day will come when physical limits assure one's ability to walk that extra mile have arrived, leaving one only with the memories. Bittersweet as it may be, it lies in wait for all of us. Don't forget that.
Moral of the story is... get out and get into it now, don't leave it until next week or next year. It certainly wont come to you...

What a video ... I'm a brit but have done a lot of back country fishing in NZ. I remember walking for two days into the Karamea National Park to fish and then watching a Heli land a couple of guys straight onto the river.... I was not happy, haha

Even though Ben, Johan, Gareth, Ian, Dyl, Dylan and yourselves don't necessarily intend to produce fly fishing tutorials, by dint of what you do and show us, we luddites can pick up the essentials, even if to only dream of matching your efforts!

Thanks for this collab. Years ago I saw one of your videos Mike and I was hooked. The quality and story telling were fantastic. It was definitely quality over quantity though so I went searching for others and then found Alex…. I’m constantly amazed with the quality and frequency he’s able to produce and I haven’t missed a video since. Having moved to Auckland I don’t get to fish as much as I’d like but your videos have kept the passion for fishing in amazing spots alive for me. I know when we move in a few years I’ll be straight back into it again. Love the stuff you both do so well.
