Everyone was on board when Clarkson took the job, now that it's taking more than 18 months to rebuild they've turned on him (what a surprise). Trading in McKercher, Duursma, Goad, Dawson and Hardeman (literal 18 year olds) can't replace the size and experience of McKay, Thomas, Cunnington, Hall, Ziebell and Goldy. I think Clarkson is doing the same thing as he did when he started at Hawthorn with a youth policy. Get the kids playing early, have them come through together, form bonds, form trust and do pre-seasons together. The hardship will be worth it if the club and team ends up being a quarter as successful as what the Hawks were under Clarkson.

My mob Carlton about 6 years ago, takes time to develop and create those bonds and very hard if you are losing all the time.
My opinion is Bolton and Teague both played some role in lifting us up in their own way but it took a persona of someone like Voss to put the finishing touches on the list to get the best out of them.
We were rebuilding nicely under Ratten but then they did a stupid thing and got Malthouse which set us back three years.
Clarkson may be a bit of the same, time will tell but he is a proven coach and has dragged a bottom team up to the top.
North supporters just have to stick fat. A bit of pain ahead.

I was angry when we won that game, but I was glad North didn't destroy its strong draft hand to trade up for the #1 pick. North needed to bring in as much high quality talent as possible to replace some of our list cloggers. I actually have a (conspiracy) theory that West Coast provided Gold Coast with an inducement to lose that game. After leading by about 5 goals they completely stopped and there was about a 11 goal turn around. Something was very off about that Gold Coast performance.

@@imalwaysright prior to the Gold Coast game all North needed to do was lose. West Coast were 4 points ahead of them, so a loss locked in 18th no matter what West Coast did. I do believe that the AFL told them that there would be no compensation if they got Pick 1 (or at the very least that they would not get Pick 3 for McKay). The last time a club had a winless Season was Fitzroy in 1964. This is looking like it will be North's first winless Season since 1934. And from there where you do you go with them? More help? They're already going to be getting Pick 1, so what more can you give them that doesn't compromise the draft further? North supporters are going to hate it, but what they need is a fresh start. Relocate them. Merge them. Whatever. They just need to start over.

This midfield right now should be sheezel, Horne Francis and Reid.
They r ruining sheezel, Horne Francis ran and they won a game for no reason to lose Reid. It's ineptitude on the biggest scale. It's worse than Fitzroy from the 90s. Laura Kane's contribution to the North Melbourne Football Club? Lecturing the senior mens team on the difference between men and womens sport. Sonja Hood is in over her head. Get these women away from the sport.

Yep neither of these women have a clue about football and neither are respected as they are both diversity hires

the mental gymnastics to make problems at a football team into an issue about women. The deep-rooted misogyny is jumping out. A woman, Peggy O'Neal, was the first woman in AFL history to be a club president, and ran Richmond during their 3-peat premiership. A woman was in charge at Melbourne during their premiership.

Should've gone to the Gold Coast when the AFL offered them relocation with a truck load of cash.

Relocate to lose the club? You're kidding aren't you? Ask the old South Melbourne supporters if they think Sydney is still their club. Same for the old Fitzroy supporters and Brisbane.

Something has got to give? I'll tell you what has to give - the club I have loved needs to close down. Enough humiliation - it's over, close the club down and redistribute the players to Tasmania and the other clubs. We are an embarrassment.
