    Great video, and a really cool product! Like you say, maybe a bit to the expensive side, but it's a really cool thing to take with you outside in the evenings 😀 I have some alternatives around the house from IKEA. A FADO lamp with a tradfri color bulb, then you have the same product- but not that portable (cost like 40 usd /compared to danish prices) 😁 -if you think about price, maybe Philips hue go would be the best alternative 😋

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Před 4 lety +2

      Thank you! Yes, I agree, using smart color bulbs in lamps are a great way to add affordable ambient lighting throughout the house.
      What makes this thing different is definitely the portability. The Phillips Hue Go is probably the closest competitor to this, but it still cost $80. The Hue Go is good to shine against walls, etc in my opinion. But I think the Flare looks better sitting on it's own in the open. Plus the wireless charging and the carry handle are features that the Hue Go doesn't have that I really like for a portable light.

    Philips hue go does exactly the same?

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Před 4 lety

      The Hue Go is the most similar HomeKit product to the Flare available that I know of. The main differences are the Eve flare claims double the battery life of the Hue Go (6 hours vs 3 hours with the Hue) and the Eve Flare can be used outside because of it's IP65 water resistance rating.

      Hi Milan, yes if you are using HomeKit. You create a new automation to turn on the light when your homekit sensor detects motion, then you have the option to TURN OFF after 1 minute - 4 hours.

    Eve's marketing team clearly sucks. I was never going to buy this because I didn't know what it did. I have a A17 Hue Bulb in an iKea Fado globe that provides the same look. That's a 60 dollar or so solution but what I give up is portability and the Fado is glass which can break. The Hue Go is a small portable light that doesn't last but 3 hours or so and doesn't have wireless charging.
    Seeing a lot of unrealistic pricing. You're not going to get these features for 60 dollars. CamelCamelCamel pricing history shows the lowest this went on Amazon.com was $89 back in July '19. This tells me that the price is what it is and I don't have to worry about buying at $9x and then watching the price gutted a month later.
    Great review.

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Před 4 lety

      Murchy Murch thanks for sharing! Sounds like a creative solution, which is awesome!
      I do love the portability and the wireless charging of this. Glass definitely wouldn’t work for me...my 9 year old has already grabbed this thing off the charger every time she makes a new “fort” to provide her lighting 😂 . Biggest downside is the price for sure but I’m learning that Eve really does make quality product imo.
      Thanks for watching !
