Beautiful wash & go results for your niece Joy’s hair, Chelli! My hair is similar to Joy in curl pattern & shrinkage, so the Denman brush wouldn’t work for me. I always finger detangle on damp hair when applying DC since that works for me which helps with not causing excessive shedding which happens when my hair is wet when I finger detangle.

I wish my mom did this for me when I was little. She would use non-curly hair products and would brush my hair dry and I HATED it. And of course, I grew up not knowing how to take care of my curls. I'll definitely do this if I have kids. Btw, how do the products smell? I'm not a big fan of coconut or banana type smells, but if my future kids would like it I could use the products on them haha
