Hey PVK, Can you do a video on practical exorcism? I have a side job at the post office and this place is literally full of evil spirits. I speak life into, and pray for my co-workers but the spirit of toxicity is so strong!

I like the prolificity of American Protestantism. But I think it has exhausted our consciousness congress ... so some of us have pulled back into a more narrow High Church culture.

The YT video "Oral Robets A Legacy of Contaminated Theology" on LongforTruth1 channel is very informative. It shows his connection to the Word of Faith/Prosperity Gospel sect. Roberts is shown parodying Scripture and declaring "silver and gold have I plenty!".

3:00 Yes. The televangelism side of the Roberts' ministry and the day-to-day experience of students were more separate than those on the outside might suppose.

I find your quibble about speaking of an "altar call" when there is no physical altar (such as one finds in an Anglo Catholic or Roman Catholic church) rather surprising. The Protestant avoidance of referring to the Communion table as an "altar" is to avoid the idea that Christ Himself is being sacrificed again on that table, but the "code" that travels is from the New Testament understanding of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, and presented on the altar in heaven, as being the spiritual reality that the penitent comes to kneel before. St Paul and the author of Hebrews refer to our having an altar which is not that of the old tabernacle, and which is the benefits received from the sacrifice of Christ, both through communion and from doing good, offering ourselves as living sacrifices to God. Thus, the coming forward and kneeling in place at the "altar call" represents that spiritual reality. Do you and your congregation/denomination have no sense of this?

I'll hear the word "altar" used by some for the "front of the church" but beyond that there is very little consciousness of it in many low church Protestant places. "Stage" is the word that has replaced it.

@@PaulVanderKlay I think you are missing the meaning, which I am fairly sure is meant by the "altar call", that the coming is to Jesus, believing on his sacrifice, presented on the heavenly altar, and laying down oneself on the "altar" as a living sacrifice to God. This laying ourselves on the altar is a feature of several hymns. It is not about a piece of furniture in the church. I am surprised that you are missing this point.

I'd put "stage" somewhere in the late 90s & following, and in only the trendy churches. When it comes to Pentecostal churches, as opposed to spanking new charismatic storefronts, the table and the rail remains the norm until a millennial pastor can get the funds to go trendy. One hopes the Asbury regard for holiness and its boundaries is a seed that will bear fruit.

@@chrishoward8473 Why this preoccupation with a physical construction, when an "altar call" is about a spiritual reality? It's coming to Christ and the altar which is in heaven, and also to the "altar" of one's offering of oneself as a living sacrifice. Is that not what is meant?
