  • In this video I install an air bag lift system to level the F-150 for towing or heavy loads. Safer towing. Saves tires from wear. Keeps headlights from blinding oncoming traffic. Better handling.
    There are several brands out there. I got the Ride-Rite ones because a local dealer had a return and I got a great deal on them. The printed instructions could use a few tweaks but we figured it out in the video. Have a watch, click the like and subscribe to help my little channel out!
    Hope it helps!

    Great video. Best one I have seen yet. Are you just using an air compressor to inflate your bags? Also did the kit include zip ties?

    • @grampzquad
      @grampzquad  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Thanks! I bought a small compressor that plugs into the cig 12 volt. It has a digital display that inflates to the pressure I set it to. A lot cheaper than the onboard system. Zip ties were included.

    Great install video. I installed the Firestones on my 2016 F-150 that has a 4" suspension lift. I opted to also install the wireless compressor system from Air Lift for the convenience. You can control the PSI settings from either the Air Lift remote, or the Air Lift app on your phone.

    I'm installing on a 2020 so not the same at all, but still a good watch, thanks for posting. I was hoping that at the end of the video you'de take her for a spin and let us know how they did. Maybe even what your pressures were on that trailer to get back to standard ride height. Also, by leaving the 10 PSI vs the 5 PSI, did that change stock ride height, and how was the ride?

    Curious if your towing experience did or didn’t really improve after using air bags. The Ecoboost is a great truck with a lot of features so I’m curious if you feel like it was worth adding to it (in hindsight). Beautiful truck by the way

    • @grampzquad
      @grampzquad  Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Thanks Chris! This absolutely made towing easier. The truck rides nice and level. The best part is that the front end feels grounded. Without the bags the front felt light like I was on ice. It also wore out the outer edges of the front tires.

      Absolutely worth it! I wore out the outside of my front tires when the truck was squatting. Steering was real light and the truck wandered on the road. Now with level ride it's a dream to tow with.

      The air bags are awesome. They level out the truck nicely. Without the bags the front end seemed really light and the front tires started to wear on the outer edges quickly. Highly recommend them. Save money and DIY it!

    What psi do you find works well for pulling your camper

    • @grampzquad
      @grampzquad  Před 2 lety

      Air bags need to be kept between 5 and 100 psi. I usually keep about 10 psi in them with no load. When towing I put enough in to level the truck. That will vary with each load or trailer.
