Her duet with Brad Paisley is amazing! “Whiskey Lullaby”
That's a tough one though. That will have Amber bawling.🤗
Yes!!! A tear jerker for sure.
So is her duet with Alan Jackson on his first Christmas Album! ( The Angels Cried )
A real tearjerker! The music video is devastatingly beautiful...
You cannot control the flood gates when you react to "Whiskey Lullaby". I'm sorry. I meant to caps CANNOT!
Alison has the most Grammys of any female recording artist. She has 27 and deserves every one of them. Y’all’s sweet smiles also put me in such a great mood. Thank you!
I second that emotion.😄
She's amazing but I think Shania twain is better. I'm probably biased tho cuz my late father grew me up listening to her all the time. And Shania is Canadian like me so lol.
Sorry…but Beyoncé has won the most Grammys of any female. She has 28 wins.
@@joannmerver Hurray for the pimp hop catagory.
Yup. I love Krauss…. Yet as far as facts Beyoncé Holds that title as of the last Grammy’s with 28.
“What is that?”
That’s a mandolin. A device used to cut human fingertips to ribbons. But sounds quite nice while doing it.
@David Reynolds….
🤣
Eh only whtin putting on strings, but yousualy, but your yousing your instrument to slice it up,ok goes both ways. By the way i play mandolin and i cook. happy fun time.
Touché mon freer
lol
😂
One of the purest voices you'll ever hear. What a treasure.
Her for female and Vince Gill for male.
This song was first recorded by Keith Whitley, who ended up dying at a very young age. He was a superstar in country music, and his legend has only increased since his death. After this remake was released, a version was made that inserted Whitley's voice in certain places, and created a duet out of it. It was played on the radio quite a bit.
That is my favorite version!
@@1000lilfeet - mine, too.
Keith did sing it but he didn't write it. Don Schlitz / Paul L Overstreet wrote it.
@@kimp.5853 Agreed. And Keith was a star for sure but not a superstar.
Keith Whitley is my favorite version and I do miss his music. RIP
If anyone hasn't experienced Allison and Union Station her band do so now. The musicianship is other worldly.
W, a, nade, I am a Adi am a lawyer a Ambar.Hey, the more more country CO UN.T.R.Y music MUSI.Say we need some more
Her voice has been called "The voice of an angel" for a LONG time.
By who
@@CanadianGuy2004everyone but you apparently
Robert Plant heard her angelic voice on the radio and contacted her, they ended up doing an album together in 2007 which won 5 Grammys. The unlikely duo teamed up again and released a 2nd album in 2021. Alison also plays a killer violin. Their harmonies are out of this world.
Wow. I did see one duet they did on here. Thank you for sharing this info. 🫶
The voice of an angel. Her version of “Ghost in This House”, and her, along with Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs, singing “Go Rest High on That Mountain”, should be heard at least once by every human being on Earth.
Yes, beautiful performance.
“Ghost in This House” 👍🏻
Also don’t miss Pentatonix “Go Rest High on that Mountain” as well.
Yes!! You have to do her cover of ghost in this house!!

Alison Krauss is one of the most influential people in the genre of Bluegrass. Her band, Union Station, is worth a reaction or two on its own. A good Alison Krauss bluegrass song that features her band , is "Steel Rails". Strongly recommended.
Love her version of that!
Another good one is her cover of the Beatles song I Will.
Steel Rails was the 1st song that I fell in ❤ with Alison Krause. That was around 1986-87 when CMT Channel played country videos.
If you like this, you need to react to “Whiskey Lullaby” by Allison Kraus and Brad Paisley. It’s such and beautiful and heartbreaking song! I know, heartbreaking is sad but trust me, it’s worth it…
Grab the tissues. Incredible song.
Incredible Song!!! #storytelling
I was about to recommend the same thing but, yes, grab a whole box of tissues and waterproof mascara!
Great video
definitely grab the tissues on "Whiskey Lullaby"...It kills me everytime I hear it
If angels have voices, this is what they sound like.
Her performance of "Down to the River to Pray" always makes me emotional.
This is my favorite Allison Krause song
Love this song too
I've heard that a few times before, but not for a while. I think it's on the soundtrack of the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".
It's like the holy spirit consumes you. I feel closer to God with this song then when I got baptized
She’s incredibly talented - plays the violin/fiddle. She did an album that won Grammys - she has the most Grammy award wins of all time - incredible singer and player.
That sound in the song you questioned is a mandolin - jerry Douglas one of the best.
Hey Robert! Jerry Douglass is on Dobro, and he is one of the best. Adam Steffey is on Mandolin here. He is one of the best too!
She is number 4 as of the last Grammys and number 2 female
@@banjorob38 you’re right - jerry can play them all but you are correct
@@bradleysmith8144 again I am mistaken but she carried that title for awhile.
Thanks for the correction about Adam. I was in band with him in high school. He's the hometown boy that made good!🙂
She has TONS of other great songs this is just the tip of the iceberg. She has the voice of a angel.
Like everyone says, she's absolutely incredible. I wouldn't even mess with her collaborations at first. You gotta know how dang good she is, plus her band, Union Station. Unparalleled.
Yes! Her voice is angelic! This was mine and my wife’s first dance at our wedding. You should check out the original version by Keith Whitley!
I second the Keith Whitley reaction. His voice is amazing
I agree when I hear Keith Whitley sing this it gives me goosebumps.
I third that definitely need to react to Keith Whitley.
Keith Whitley did a beautiful version
@@mozzetti1 when I hear him sing ANYTHING it gives me goosebumps
Her and Brad Paisley with "Whiskey Lullaby" is amazing. One of the purest voices out there. You should hit up Martina McBride again with "This One's For The Girls".
Totally forgot about This Ones For The Girls. Idk how, that song got me through when I broke off my engagement, lemme tell you. I’ve honestly never listened to it without crying, especially because it came out when I was “about 25.”
Update: Still haven’t listened to it without bawling, now that I’m “about 42.” Dang that song! 😭🤣
Not only does Alison Krauss have the most pure Angelic voice i have ever heard...but MAN can she play the FIDDLE!!!! Saw her and Union Station Play at a Chili Cookoff at Virginia Beach in 1992 and never forgot it!
I imagine a world where everyone is as joyful as you two
Here's something : Krauss made an album with the front singer of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant. Against all expectations it was a match made in heaven. Check out "Killing the Blues" where their voices blend beautifully.
I was just about to recommend the Raising Sand album, with Alison and Robert Plant, magical!
@@catherinemccullough299 And there is another on the way, out in November
@@pauline415 I will look forward to that, thank you!😉
Alison recorded a multi Grammy award winning duet album with, of all people, Robert Plant (of Led Zeppelin) called "Raising Sand". It was produced by T-Bone Burnett and featured many great songs including "Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On) and "Rich Woman". They have a new album coming out in November 2021, the first single is "Can't Let Go".
That album is mesmerizing! I didn't know they were doing a sequel! Thanks for the info!
I believe it won the Grammy for Album of the Year…
@@thomasdempsey721 It's called "Raise The Roof".
Love that album with Robert plant and her
I though of that album as soon as i read alison krauss.
Alison is my most favorite American singer, her voice is exquisite. So pure, so delicate, so sweet, just ethereal and magical.
Allison Krauss has the voice of an angel.
Her band, Union Station, did a lot of the music for "O' Brother, Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney..."Man of Constant Sorrow" was a big hit from that movie. They are a powerhouse themselves.
Dan Tyminski of the group did George Clooney's singing voice in the movie...
That movie is what introduced me to her.
Union Station is mainly a bluegrass band and is the tightest band you will ever find. Everything they do is perfect. Add in Alison's violin along with Jerry Douglas playing the Dobro and you can't go wrong.
She has the voice of a angel. If y'all have not done Whiskey Lullaby do so with the official video.
But bring tissues....
Love Alison Krauss since first hearing "Now that I Found You" a few decades ago. Her teaming with Union Station is pure gold. Ironically, as sweet as her voice is, the majority of her music catalog is a stark contrast with songs often of heartbreak. The formula works, but her love life unfulfilled through song has me rooting for her.
Her songs "Lucky One" and "Let Me Touch You for a While" will absolutely not disappoint
This is one of the songs that was on my 'decompress' playlist to help me calm down and actually be able to get some sleep when I was in Iraq.
Great choice! I have a decompress playlist too! Thank you and God bless you for your service!
One of the few artists, like Louis Armstrong, as renowned for her playing as her singing. Her original recording contract (age 14, as I recall) was based on her Bluegrass fiddling, of which she is a master. I was lucky to see her with her great band, Union Station. Just phenomenal.
The thing is, even live, this is Alison!
Love this version of this song!! Her voice is like an angel.
She put out her first album when she was just 16. She is known for having perfect pitch and the ability to hold it throughout songs. Her recent work is doing duets with none other than Sir Robert Plant!
I first saw her at a bluegrass festival when she was 13. She was sitting on a hay bale and I asked her what she us up to and she just said she was there to sing a little. At that age I knew she was going to be a superstar.
I have that Plant/Krauss CD.....love it!
Jordan, the instrument you were asking about was a mandolin. It's often used in folk, bluegrass and Appalachian mountain music. It's a gorgeous instrument!
...and Celtic.
I love the mandolin.
You want to hear some fun mandolin - check out Dwight Yoakam's "Sloop John B" - the dude who plays mandolin and sings back up is great!
@@tigerprayers2824 Also check out Sierra Hull and Chris Thile (or Punch Brothers) for a newer generation of mandolin virtuosos.
She is an awesome songwriter and people think she fell off the Earth but she’s like Carol King or Linda Rhondstat and continues to work even though she probably never has to again. Such passion in all she does.
I have attended 1000's of concerts, mostly Rock ones, I saw Allison & Union Station in concert, the concert was PERFECT, her voice live sounds better than recorded, it is angelic, I cried several times during that concert and I really can't say why...
Another great Allison Krauss song is her version if "Baby, Now That I've Found You".
I agree. Lucky One would also be a good choice
This lady has 25 Grammy Awards. The voice so clear and beautiful and the way she plays a violin/fiddle. A national treasure.

@@johncarroll9489 thnx for correction i couldnt remember how many exactly
@@markbarnwell942 no problem.
You got it right when you said her voice is ethereal. She sings like the angels. She’s very talented. She sings a lot of bluegrass and plays as well, she’s wonderful to listen to no matter what she’s singing or playing. ❤❤❤ Oh and that’s a mandolin being played which she also can play.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. I think the Angels sing like her.
Voice, pure as if it was bell. Angelic.
She absolutely killed this cover... BUT!!! To hear Mr. Whitley's original version, and knowing it was for his wife (fellow country star Lorrie Morgan), you can feel the raw emotion so much more. He had a way with words!
Whitley had a great voice. Gone way before his time.
There’s a version out there where someone mixed Allison and Keith’s versions together!
❤
I don't even like listening to him...hits a little to close to home and I'll leave it at that. Man was a 🦄
“Mr Webster could never define what’s being said between your heart and mine” best line
I agree. Love that line.
Alison idolized Keith Whitley who wrote and also sang this. Keith died early in age from alcohol poisoning. I am a huge fan of them both.
Performers from every type of music has & wants to play music with her
She is a Bluegrass musical legend...a magnificent "fiddle" player! A true talent.
I'm so happy you have discovered her. The song was also performed by Keith Whitley.
Would love to see them react to Keith Whitney's version of this. Just as beautiful but from a male voice
It was written by Paul Overstreet (an excellent artist in his own right) and Don Schlitz, but was performed by Whitley, also one of the purest voices in country music and gone before his time.
Thank you for correcting me!
Alison, has the voice of an Angel!
She is an incredible fiddle player and her band Union Station is the Gold Standard for modern Bluegrass music. She and They are among my absolute favorites. One thing you guys might be interested in is she did a couple duet albums with Robert Plant from Led Helpline and they are fantastic togethet!
Allison Krause has an amazing voice. She is really big on the bluegrass scene. Y'all will like "Lucky One."
She was one of the sirens at the river in Oh Brother Where Art Thou, singing Didn't Leave Nobody But The Baby, also sang Let's Go Down To The River To Pray. Her band member Dan Tyminski sang Man of Constant Sorrow as George Clooney's voice.
What Jay said right away - "Smooth!"
Yeah, that is Allison Krauss. And at the same time, she's remarkably versatile.
This tune is pretty straight up Country.
There are a number of videos from a collaboration with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, at his request, that came out surprisingly well.
She is so quietly talented.
Ohhh..... she has always been my favorite female country singer, and she has done alot of Bluegrass music to.Awesome choice 👍
The little 'guitar' instrument is called a mandolin.
Her voice is what I imagine the angels would sound like when they sing
Me too! I’ve said that for years!
This is the song I sang all of my 5 nieces and nephews to sleep with. Worked on each of them every single time and was our special ritual they sometimes wouldn't go to sleep without. Thanks for the memories!!
Alison was winning major awards at 13 - How do I know? I remember seeing her on The Nashville Network in the early 80's!!! Well, did I/could I ever imagine 40 yrs later she'd be a major star alongside Robert Plant!!??!! Truth is stranger than fiction!!! What a superior talent.
Watch the Carpenters “ hurting each other” as well as tons of other hit songs they sang. This sister/brother band is still a favorite to this day and they had their hits in the 70’s
I love Alison Krauss singing "Down To The River To Pray". Of course she has so many great songs. Such a unique voice.

One of the most beautiful voices ever
A ghost in this house…… Alison has the voice of an angel. She plays violin also.
When Allison sings she sounds like an angel but this is a cover of a Keith Whitley song you need to hear him sing it also.
Yes!
At last. Great bluegrass singer with a voice that is nothing short of genius. Allison is also recognised as one of the very best fiddle players in the industry
Checkout her and the band she is in, Union Station
Paper Airplane
Gravity
Miles To Go
Lucky One
She has such a sweet pretty voice. Talented musician who plays several instruments too.
She has won 27 Grammys, the second most of all time. She is so amazing and talented especial when you account that she plays fiddle, piano and mandolin in some of the best bluegrass bands.
I don’t know if y’all have done a reaction to “Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley yet. Allison Krauss did the duet with Brad.
Yes!!!! Whiskey Lullaby is a haunting song. Beautifully haunting.
@@KittiesMombo Ain’t that the truth!!!!
Yes such a good song
Alison Krauss truly has the voice of an angel. Every time I hear her sing, I just want to envelop her in a warm loving hug. When Dolly Parton was recognized for the Kennedy Center Honors, Alison sang "Jolene" to honor her. The musical instrument you couldn't identify is the mandolin.
I had the pleasure of being at The Palace in Louisville, KY when Alison and Union Station recorded their live CD and DVD. It was probably the best concert I've ever attended, and it's not even my style of music. Wasn't, anyway. I'm a diehard fan of these people now.
She also plays fiddle like she’s heaven sent.
I've never listened to anything from Alison Krauss in my life! Yep, this is the first time I've ever heard her. I'm in love already!!! I have to listen to some more of her music now. I'm a fan already!!!
Listen to Raising Sand with Robert Plant
@@pauline415 Okay. 🙂
This song was originally written and sung by the late singer-songwriter Keith Whitley. He wrote this song for his wife, country singer-songwriter Lorrie Morgan. The song peaked at #1 on the Billboard Country chart back in 1988. Alison Krauss's version peaked at #3 on the Billboard Country chart back in 1995. What a beautiful song indeed!!!
Nice copy and paste
Hi guys! Love your reactions. This was a song originally done by Keith Whitley! You'll have to listen to his version of it too. He does a wonderful job with it as well. Have a great day!
She’s an AMAZING bluegrass fiddle player too. Top of the tops. Just 🔥.
I am so glad that you reacted to Alison; she is an amazing singer/songwriter/musician. Her voice is like crystal. That instrument is a Mandolin by the way. Great reaction to a beautiful song.
The small guitar is called a Mandolin.
I have not seen anyone mention that the reason her voice is so pure is because it is as close to pitch perfect as you can get. And I like her voice better than Dolly's.
I watch this all the time. ❤ her voice!!!!!!! Watch her live....she sounds EXACTLY like this!
My dad (R. I. P. Sparky) loved this song, both the cover by Alison, which you just heard, and the original done by our family friend, Kieth Whitley. In his own words, "You can't go wrong with either one."
Wow
Another smooth soothing voice is
Norah Jones
"Come Away With Me"
Also of course the purest female voice is Karen Carpenter. Take your pick on their songs, you can't go wrong.
Omg yes! 🥰🥰🥰
Her version of Baby Mine is stunning, a great lullaby.
She’s one of my favorites! Great bluegrass singer! Voice of an Angel 💗
I love thier blue grass
I knew you guys would love this song and this artist. You should listen to her sing "Whiskey Lullaby" next.
Alison Krauss did an entire album with Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant.
And they're getting ready to release a second, with a tour in 2022! The Plant/Krauss collaboration ( with T-Bone Burnett ) was crazy good! Two of my favorite singers, but I never pictured them doing anything together. They knocked the first album out of the park! I'm hoping the second will be more of the same!
I love her more
She is pure people! She is a true artist! Any sad song the words just come through. Not true of other singers.
She does a beautiful version of the song from Dumbo called “baby mine” you would love to play that for your new baby. Congratulations!!
Hi guys, first of all congratulations on your lovely baby boy! Alison Krause does a beautiful rendition of 'Go Rest High on That Mountain' with Vince Gill and Ricky Scaggs, it will bring a tear to your eye for sure.
As someone who is more of a rock and Hip-Hop guy. Allison& Union station are absolutely incredible. And check her resume cuz she's been stacking Grammys for a long time. Immensely talented! And I'm a grown man in my 40s and whenever I hear the song I got to do everything to fight back the tears😢 also if you're a rock fan her and Robert plant do all sorts of collaborations together!
Enjoying you reaction to the lovely and sooo talented Alison Krauss.
She’s one of my all-time favorites she sings like an angel.
She plays fiddle like an angel too, but we don't get to see and hear this as much as we should
My husband is so shy with a background of stuttering- this fits how I feel about him completely. She and Dolly sing like birds.
That made me tear up it’s so sweet. I love that!
I love when people discover our country angels 😇 We love Allison Krauss...
Alison Krauss has the voice of an angel. "Stay", "Ghost In This House" (goosebumps) live with her band 'Union Station' czcams.com/video/dWRGZaHb8xE/video.html, & "Baby, Now That I've Found You" are a few of my favorite Alison songs. Glad you found her music!
