    Did you hear about the rumour that foreign condo-buyers in Thailand, which involves condo's over 10 million Baht, may attain permanent residence in Thailand?

    • @PropertyScout
      @PropertyScout  Před 3 lety

      Hey Erik, thanks for the question.
      I have not heard of this; I also think it would be unlikely for the Thai Government to offer PR in exchange for the purchase of a condo.
      However, I know that if you are willing to buy a 10mb Condo, you can apply for a long-term Investment Visa (1 Year). You can also have direct dependents (I.e. Your spouse and children) on that visa.
      Hope this helps!

      @@PropertyScout Hi Pierre, it is indeed very speculative, but the message is coming from the head of the Thai condo association, see VDO czcams.com/video/1QYID9kuurQ/video.html&pbjreload=101 from Integrity Legal Thailand.
      Is the investment visa every year renewable after once purchased a condo over 10 million Baht?

    • @PropertyScout
      @PropertyScout  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for sharing, the video is interesting!
      However, considering the Thai Government's conservative visa/ immigration policy, I am not sure it would happen; fingers crossed, let us wait and see!
      For the Investment Visa my understanding is as follows:
      - You need to own 10mb worth of condos for 3 years.
      - You can then apply and it's renewable every year. *
      - You can have dependents registered on the Visa (I.e. Your Spouse or kids)
      *That is provided, there are no changes to the law.

    I lived 5 minutes walk from chong nongsi station, (about 8 months ago) almost at the 1st STR Express bus station. my conclusion: I have never lived in a shittier place in Bangkok. I have 15 years of experience in Thailand (minimum 3 months per year, and 7 full years in Bangkok). The problem with this place is that there is NOTHING on the weekends and in the evening everything is office-oriented. In the evening I had to walk to Silom to find something other than a Seven or a KFC... it sucks! The only restaurant open at night was a Chinese full of cockroaches. as expensive as filthy. Silom, Bangrag or further after Song Nongsi, near Saint Louis Hospital, it's a great neighborhood, but Chongnonsi is in a hole where there is NOTHING. It really sucks.
    From my experience, I stayed 1 year in Nonthaburi and Bangyai, in the northern suburbs of Bangkok, when I didn't speak a word of Thai, no money in my pocket and when nothing was done for the Farang (2009). Life was hard. Still, I had a million times more fun than Chong Nonsi. For me around the Chao Phraya like Bangrak or the North East like Lat Phrao and Wongtonglan are the coolest districts to live in. Wangthonglang is not bad because it's cheap and convenient, to the east is Bangkapi its mall and the Khlong boat takes you to Pratunam in 50 minutes. To the west Lat Phrao and its shopping malls The district has a lot of big houses (I rented 200 sqm for 15,000 B and simple temples, More practical daily shopping malls like 3 Big C, Lotus and large markets , the best street food in bangkok. And in the south you have Thonglor that everyone knows. Not very far on Sutthisan, at the Ratchadapisek and Ladprao road intersection, there is a Night market. The black point is the intense traffic and the typical traffic jams of the Tanon Latphrao (road).With the arrival of the future metro line, this place will become really cool.I recommend it, certainly more than Chong Nonsi.If you want to be in a classy and central place, BangRak and Phra kanong, a house on the banks of the Chao Phraya, the Top, the Holy Grail!
