      Always a Friday Fries! No question! Though Jo would argue for anything chocolate. Haven't been to Bruges since 2006. Time for a return!

    the reason why they called it flemish fries instead of french fries is because fries were actually invented in Belgium and not in France (there's a bit of controversy around it) Glad you enjoyed the most beautiful city in Belgium!!

    When in Bruges: buy nothing, eat nothing, drink nothing. Instead take the bus to Sint-Kruis (Maalsesteenweg) and stop near a supermarket: the food you'll get in Lunch Garden is exactly the same they serve on the market place (at 1/3 of the price) (Lunch Garden = Carrefour supermarket). All the expensive so-called self-made chocolates and famous beers can be bought at discount rates over there.The meals in the city all come from the same supplier (they are delivered vacuum packaged and prepared in steam ovens). Do not ask for a beer on the market: you risk to get one liter of Stella (12 €)

    • @AlwaysaFriday
      @AlwaysaFriday  Před 5 lety

      Great tips Bernard! We've definitely paid €10 for a Stella before!

    In Belgium, you always start with 'een kleintje met stoversaus en mayonaise (the fries) ' and then you order the rest.

    You had some fucking great recommendations here. The waffles should pretty much be always as good as that anywhere in the country, but with fries and chocolate it really depends on where you go. And those seem marvelous.

    All of the food looks so yummy. I don't think I could decide which is my favorite. It is all things I love. If you ever come to the U.S. and visit Philadelphia you'll have to let me know so I can take you to my favorite local chocolate place. I would have eaten all of those chocolates too.

    We actually have two kinds of waffle. The one you had is called Liège waffle, the other one is called Brussels waffle which is more crispy and light. Too bad you didn't try the other one, it's my favorite.

      fries are Belgian, completely
      go to french towns, most of them wil not have dedicated fryeries , Belgian towns do, all of them, no exeptions what so ever
      the frenched fries theory also does not hold,
