I am one of those English guys that can actually sing 'Modern Major General' word for word and I have memorised this as well. Its a fantastic parody, very funny, very apt, and I'm sure Obama just LOVES IT!

It's parody of "Modern Major General" from Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance".
This is very impressive. I found this while researching Gilbert and Sullivan and politics. Having studied G&S since the late 1980s, I see wonderful uses for their lyrics and music still today. Thank you.

I decided to look up the Modern Major-General song in Wikipedia and they have a great article which talks about many of the parodies and uses of this song. You can find many of them on YT so I highly recommend you do that. Lot of laughs. (Family Guy, Two and a Half Men, Muppet Show, Fraisier, and Simpsons are among them.)
