    I know that 2020 has been a rough year for a lot of people - there’s nothing anyone can do to change that. But now there’s a whole year full of potential ahead of us. You can turn that potential into anything you want. Life is what you make of it; choose to make it happy!

      Both the Entente and Central Powers were dealt a large dose of reality when World War 1 started. The thing was that up until that point the major powers of Europe had spent most of their time fighting inferior opponents for decades. The last few times two major powers fought, the Franco-Prussian War of 1871 and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, those conflicts were over in under a year and were clear cut victories. And technology was advancing so quickly while tactics still remained stuck in the 19th century, one huge factor to why so many casualties were caused in the early months of the war. As much as Field Marshal Haig gets rightly deserved hate for the Somme and Passchendaele, his German and French counterparts sent plenty of their soldiers to get slaughtered in futile offensives that they believed would break the stalemate.
      If you want to look up two of the largest failures as generals during that war look up Austrian Field Marshal Conrad von Hötzendorf and Italian General Luigi Cadorna. You can chalk up a huge amount their countries' casualties to their ignorant decisions.

      It's excusable because the last major European war before WW1 was the Napoleonic Wars. They weren't used to the new advanced technology, tactics, nations, ect. If WW3 starts, it will be the exact same thing, WW2 was over 76 years ago.

    • @daniels_0399
      @daniels_0399 Před 3 lety +14

      Maybe it was a gentlemany trend to be vegetarian?
      I know that mediteranean diets were seen as fancy.
      I know it became gentlemany about that time to sit down at a table full of food and only grab yourself something small, showed that expensive food for you wasn't a luxury or something like that.
      Being slick also became fashionable, where before it was a sign of wealth to be fat, by then every middle class commoner could afford to eat enough to become fat, so that fell out of trend.

If it was alive/used to be alive it was either animal or vegetable (vegetation, as in plants), and if it wasn't alive (rock, iron, diamond) it was mineral. People still use these categories sometimes when playing party games, but otherwise, the list used today is very different (E.G Fungai now has its own category, as do many microorganisms like bacteria, viruses and amoebas).
